    RIP Ross Perot

The great patriot Ross Perot passed away today. My husband worked for Ross's company EDS for over 30 years. Mr. Perot was a good and decent man. When two EDS employees were thrown into prison in Iran, Ross mounted a successful rescue mission. When a former employee called him out of the blue because she was stranded in South America, he took steps to help her. In later life, he has been giving financial aid to the children of fallen soldiers so that they will be able to attend college.

Rest in peace, Mr. Perot. You improved a lot of people's lives including my own.

There is a movie called "On Wings of Eagles" about the rescue of the hostages in Iran.

So sorry. He was a bit eccentric, but a wonderful and good person.

The movie was based on the book by the same name, written by Ken Follett. When Ross Perot decided to put the story into print, EDS first approached a well-known and respected magazine and book publisher. They shall remain nameless, but EDS decided to look elsewhere for an author because this well-known and respected magazine and book publisher wanted to, shall we say, enhance the story. Ken Follett, on the other hand, promised to stay true to the facts. My memory is that the movie follows the book quite carefully.

"On Wings of Eagles" was chosen as the title because EDS had a company motto: Eagles don't flock together, you have to find them one at a time. This motto was a part of the company culture that valued achievement, honesty, and people who would do whatever it took to get a job done right. It was an exhilarating company to be affiliated with. In turn, EDS always took good care of its good employees.

And yes, he was more than a bit eccentric!

He WAS, however, my hero, and should have been president.
TRUTH is seldom appreciated, unless you happen to agree with it. When you don't agree, you just call it rude.

He well and truly deserves the title of hero. I've seen some articles announcing his passing that sought to discredit him in one way of another. Those writers are sorely misinformed.
