    Thursday Trivia: .......It’s a Wrap!

Reynolds Consumer Products says it makes no difference whether you use aluminum foil with the shiny side up or down.

During manufacturing, sheets of aluminum foil go through smoothing rollers. The side of the foil that comes in contact with the rollers becomes shiny. The other one doesn't.

This doesn't affect the cooking time of foil-covered food, and it doesn't affect protection in the fridge or the freezer.

The shiny side looks nicer when you wrap something in it. Who knew there was no 'wrong side?'

And isn't aluminum foil the most amazing substance? It's as thin as paper, can be neatly and easily torn, yet it's impervious and as strong as can be. I don't spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about it, but when I do I'm simply in awe.

And for all our Australian and UK members, yes, we silly Americans did drop an "i" and we do pronounce it incorrectly!

amazing. I always thought the shiny side would direct theheat inward.

Quilters get so used to having a "wrong" or "right" side to fabric, I guess we think everything else does too.
