Tuesday Trivia: Jacqueline Bouvier Wedding Dress

When Jacqueline Bouvier married John F. Kennedy in September 1953, she wore an ivory silk taffeta gown with layers and swirls of tucked fabric adorning its beautiful bouffant skirt.

The dress was designed by Ann Lowe. An African-American woman raised in segregated Alabama, Lowe designed couture fashions for society women, first in Tampa and later at her own salon in New York City.

Her most famous creation, Mrs. Kennedy's wedding gown, is now in the permanent collection of the JFK Presidential Library in Boston.

Such a classy First Lady. I think she would have looked good in a jogging suit, and given it flair.

Ann Lowe was clearly a very talented seamstress.

Her wedding gown is my favorite of all time. She could make a sack look stylish! Gorgeous gown and bride.
