    Wednesday......not really Trivia

Proofreading - an apparently dying art.
    From newspaper articles.

Man Kills Self Before Shooting Wife and Daughter
This appeared in a local paper. A reader called the Editorial Room and asked who wrote this. It took two or three readings before the editor realized that what he was reading was impossible!!! They put in a correction the next day.

      Re: Wednesday......not really Trivia

Yes, proofreading is a lost art. Do they actually read what they write? And it isn't any better with the short "teasers" for the news during programs. I recently listened to an anchor doing a promo for the 110 news at around 10:30 say "Man attacked in subway at 110" Really? If it's going to happen at 11, can we get somebody there to prevent it please?

These are hilarious. You had both my husband & I in stitches.

Thanks for making our slow morning great.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

          Re: Wednesday......not really Trivia

I love it. What a good way to start the day.
Speaking of proofreading...wouldn't it be great if they could spell on the bottom of the TV screen when they are trying to post something?
Walk in peace with the Lord by your side.

            Re: Wednesday......not really Trivia

loved this so funny especially if thinking of Tweaky's voice in Buck Rogers teehee what a guy hehhee.

              Re: Wednesday......not really Trivia

OMG! Too funny & knowing how careful (NOT) they proofread they should be given an award in journalism.

                Re: Wednesday......not really Trivia

Thank you, got several good laughs!!

                  Re: Wednesday......not really Trivia

I think proof reading is a lost art. Too many people depend on spell check. Even if the word is spelled correctly, it might not be the right application for the sentence in which it's used. Those headlines gave me a laugh for the day. Thanks for sharing.

                    Re: Wednesday......not really Trivia

I get a kick out of just reading the banners with stupid abbreviated sentences on the News. Some are really hard to make sense of. why do they continue to do it?? that is my question. I worked with a friend who had dyslexia and proof read all her letters to customers.
