I was upstairs sewing when I heard a lot of sirens about an hour and a half ago. Thought nothing of it until MM came up to get me for dinner. A Tacoma police officer has been shot several times and is in the hospital. I don't know his condition.

Helicopters are circling overhead....this is about 1.5 miles from our house, about six blocks from our daughters. Just hearing a lot more sirens now.

Six years ago yesterday, we lost four Lakewood officers when they were ambushed...three men and one woman. It was the largest police shooting until the recent one in Texas. One month prior to that, Seattle lost an officer. One month later, we did. The deputy was one of my best friends ever and I miss him everyday.

When all this went on, it was the beginning of the end for me. Just because I'm no longer there does not mean it does not bother me....this is just awful and all I want to do is scream bad words. I can't because my grandgirls are here. I had to come up to my sewing studio to be alone. I think I heard one creep up a bit ago, but she must have heard me crying because she went back downstairs without saying anything.

Please keep his family in your thoughts.

I've known for over an hour now, but it had not been released. He has died of his injuries. Please keep his family, both blood and blue, in your thoughts and prayers.

If you don't see me for a while, don't worry. It is so very hard right now. Unfortunately, just because I left the job does not mean the job left me.

Our community mourns today. Our Police Officers put their lives on the line every day, their familys put their fears aside everytime the Officer heads out for duty. Let us all please say a silent prayer for all our Police Officers and other 1st Responders and their familys.
