    Saturday Night Owls

Hoot hoot! The Bulls won! Woooooooooo @,@ I am trying to stay awake for the Warriors game but just had to close my eyes and suddenly it's halftime.

I wound up at Jo-Ann's again just after they opened at 6 but I just needed some sharp needles. I practiced doing some decorative stitches on leftover scraps of the table runner with my machine. So far, so good.

    How are yooooou?

Packed up my fabric on Friday - will put all my sewing supplies in the van Saturday - and will check in to the time-share on Sunday.

My personal 3-week retreat should be productive. Usually I pre-cut kits and know exactly what I'm making ... but I'm taking all my Blocks so I can wing it this time. Being on the road so much, I find it very difficult to be able to sit behind a machine and concentrate. No time schedule and no commitments ... that's why I love MY retreat time.

Wow Judy! Three weeks! We are lucky if we can manage a whole week. I could groove on three weeks at the beach, even in the winter on our Northwest beaches!

I finished the circle top, kind of. I need to press the last row, and I am thinking about adding a border. Hmmm.

For now we are headed to Mom's to put up her Christmas lights. Then a trip by my Aunt's to trim the hooves of her goats. The fun just never ends!

I got so wrapped up in organizing my fabric I almost forgot to pack clothes! Decided taking all the Block mags will be too heavy so I'm flipping through them to see what catches my eye. I know I over-packed fabric but it will give me a chance to re-organize the stash.

Hope everyone is warm and well.

We managed to get all of Mom's lights up. She is really going to need to replace a bunch of them. We would love to get her to convert to LEDs. It would draw so much less electricity and make our job a bit easier. Maybe we will do a bit of after Christmas shopping for next year.
The hooof trimming at my aunt's house didn't take very long. I think we have struck a bargain. My uncle will come out and see if either of the refrigeration coolers can be easily repaired. In exchange, we will build them a milk stand which will enable them to restrain the goats for routine maintenance. Eric aquired them from the restaurant next door to his work. They condemned the building, and they were just going to scrap them. One is a Coca Cola unit and the other is a double wide slider-door type. We intended for the smaller one to reside in the shop, and the larger one for the milk room. Neither one seems to want to lower to temperature.
We stopped on our way home to check on live trees for Christmas. I think we will go with the scotch pine from the local nursery. It's not real big, but it is nice and healthy. We can usually get two years out of a tree before planting it somewhere on the farm.
No sewing today, yet. I had a second cup of coffee after supper, and I may end up cutting out some things before I toddle off to bed.
I hope you all had a good day!
                Hugs! Cathy

Well, it was after midnight here when I posted it so it was technically Saturday. Sorry to confuse anyone.

I did so much embroidery, both hand and machine, that I got sick of it, and I love to embroider. My machine is doing very well with the decorative trilobal polyester. It can't handle invisible thread anymore but it did when it was new.

I'm amassing a little treasure trove of lace, ornaments and threads for crazy quilting. I wish this town had a better selection of perle cotton. I tried getting ribbon through my fabric with a milliner's needle but the Roses and Chocolate fabric is too well woven. I can weave it in through some of the lace, though.
