Monday a new day and the start of a new week

Good morning friends. And how was your weekend? It is getting colder around here, so I had to put the heat on. Saturday we attended an antique show in Ottawa. Very expensive and not much that I wanted, that is for sure. I did see a featherweight for $1500. Sure out of my price range, and it looked just like the one I bought for $40, haha. We then went to an antique mall and nothing there either but I did manage to go the quilt store next door and spent $90. OOPS!! Yesterday I did not do much of anything as I had company come in a couple of times. I also managed a nap in there too. One friend has brought me fabric to make 2 daycare blankets for her grandchildren. I may start those today. Hubby works days today so I SHOULD get a lot done, right?

    Have a great day friends.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

Morning Monique and all who follow. It's a chilly, rainy day here today and they are finally calling for wet flurries...I suppose in spite of my wishing otherwise, winter is really on its way. blah.

I had a relatively fun weekend. Went Friday night to a friends loft in Toronto where she performs her one woman play to promote mental health awareness. Stayed afterwards for a wee visit then left around 11:30 and got trapped downtown. They closed the Gardiner Expressway which is the main downtown highway to get up to the big Ontario main highway (401) from that end of the city. My GPS INSISTED that I take this expressway! So I was trapped on the Lakeshore for over an hour before I came to a street that I knew would take me North to the main highway. Ended up getting home at 2:30 in the morning! That was quite the adventure! My built in GPS does not seem to have a feature to avoid a particular roadway which was very frustrating!

Saturday I went and bought some apples from a local apple farm...they were HUGE! Honey Crisp...one of my favourites!! Sunday I was bored to tears and did absolutely nothing. I read for a bit, then napped, then read some more then napped, then Liam and I got take out for dinner and I read news most of the night. Found a fascinating article on Donald Trump's hair on Gawker.

Well time to get some work done! Hope you all have a fantabulous day!! xox

Weekend was just so so. Cold and raining Sat. which ruled out planned car shopping, so we got piles of laundry done. Sunday was a bit nicer but kind of damp which made my knees ache. Did begin getting some of that laundry away as most were summer clothes that were over loading our closets. Now today will be a Great Day as DGD Christine and 8 month old great grandson James will be visiting along with DS#2, the new grandfather. Can't wait to cuddle that chubby little baby as we haven't seen him for a few months. Know that he will be so much bigger and active and probably won't want to cuddle too long. Just will be wonderful to see them. His Dad is away on a long business trip so they flew up north for a brief visit with family and friends. Got to get in kitchen and rustle up some soup for lunch and tell DH to get the highchair from the garage.

Our weekend was a busy one. My dh did most of the work, he spent about 5 hours total doing yard work. He also replaced the cover on the gazebo. I sewed a few belly bands for the rescue where I found Teddy; the rescue says they can't keep up with the demand for them. They are a perfect use for my leftover flannel so I've been going through my scraps and pulling out flannel to make them.

I took advantage of the warm weather on Sat. to work in the flower beds. A few wks. ago I dug out some of my perennials; it was the only way to get the grass & weeds out from between them. They've been sitting in pans, where I kept them watered. So, I replanted primroses, campanula, a burgundy coral bells, & dug up & divided some Siberian Iris & replanted in other spots. Also dug up some weeds. The temp. rose to 88 deg.! I planted what I wanted & ended up throwing the rest in the garage. Got all 9 pans washed out & stored for the winter. By the time I finished, I was beat. If it hadn't been windy, I think the temp. would have hit 90 or better. I'm still sore from all that work.

Sun. was church, then I worked on my BSF lesson. In the afternoon, I clipped threads & pressed the Carolina Chain quilt top & backing & got it sandwiched & pin basted. I still have to machine baste the perimeter. I'm almost ready to FMQ it. Maybe I'll get to that this afternoon.

Our Fall tree colors are fading & past peak color. We had some blustery winds recently which pulled a lot of leaves off. It's been very dry. Our sprinkler system was blown out >2 wks. ago; I'm still needing to drag the hoses around & keep things watered. We need some rain or snow.

We're having a mostly sunny day. It's supposed to be in the mid-70's this afternoon. Maybe 70's all week long. We'll enjoy it while we can. At least 2 ski resorts already have opened. It's been cold enough in the mts. for snow-making. Plus they did get several in. of snow in recent days.

Our weekend was so busy that we decided to take today as a sabbath. Saturday, my oldest daughter went on a community service project, while my hubby went to a "men's breakfast". Then we had family pictures. Then we hosted our Sunday school class for a cookout. Yesterday was church and then the Harvest Shine festival our church hosts each year. It was a LONG and busy weekend, but still good, you know?

Today, we've not done much. I've played a video game while tacking down binding while the girls have had a My Little Pony marathon then have played with their ponies all afternoon.

I hope you have had and will have an awesome day. Love to you all. <3

Well I am certainly late today! This was a very spontaneous sort of day...the kind I love, but never get anything accomplished. I was invited down to a friend's to help her with a "rosebowl" snowman that she started working on, but had reached a stumbling block. I went down..about 20 minutes away.. to help her out and we ended up driving to town...another 20 minutes...to pick up some supplies for her. That took us to Fabricland (the Canadian version of Joann's, sort of), then to Walmart, then the Dollar Store and of course, we needed to stop for some lunch. A fun day...but didn't get home till almost 3 pm. Oh well, at least I managed to pick up supplies at Fabricland to make up some more Greta Clutches and Homeward Bound Bags. I have made 4 clutches and have sold them all, just by showing to a few friends! Bonus!
Still haven't been able to do any laundry, but we did buy a new machine on Friday and it will be delivered late this week....believe it or not, I can't wait!
Hope everyone has a great "rest of the day".
