    Re: West Coast Storm

We live in Tacoma, about 20 miles or so from Sumner, and there were no empty shelves or rushes of people to buy things. That said, Sumner is down by the rivers and they do get flooded if they live down in the valley.

My son sent me pics of the empty shelves at Wal-Mart. People were stocking up just in case. He lives in Sumner, WA. A tornado in Manzanita is very out of the ordinary for that area.

Our power was out yesterday but nothing abnormal for the usually fall storms so far. it seems like Oregon coast has gotten the worst of it with the small tornado's its been spawning. Got about 5 inches of rain but our ground handles massive amounts of rain with ease.

We've had some heavy rain and some wind gusts! We are waiting for the heavy wind, supposed to be later this evening.

I'm not sure disappointed is what we are. I'm going to glad if we don't have to cut our way out of the driveway and we aren't without power for a week.
They may have oversold the storm for some of us, but if they hadn't issued the warnings and it had really slammed us, the outrage and screaming would have gone in for months. We have been hit pretty good with rain, and it was a good reminder to clean out the gutters and storm ditches/drains.

We went to Seattle and got rained on a bit. That stopped and the sun came out. Made some stops on the way back home and it started raining about ten miles from the house. I have to say, unless something drastic happens, this storm has been a great disappointment!

We are used to wind and rain. .....oh! I hear the wind picking up! Maybe it's starting now.

The wind is beginning to pick up here in Victoria. They expect the peak wind to be around 8 tonight. So far it is not anything really abnormal for us, but we are prepared.

    Re: West Coast Storm

So far we have just had large quantities of rain and a few gusts. The thunder and lightening was the biggest shock. I don't remember the weatherman mentioning it, and it was a pretty effective alarm clock Friday morning.

We are making sure all of the animals are tucked up safe for the rest of the storm rolling in later today.

I hope everyone on the right coast is drying out after Mathew.
