Re: Thanks Marilyn!! WOW...
I really love FMQing but wonder how I'm going to feel about these quilts in years to come. I like the instant gratification of finishing and starting a new one. But, handquiltling seems so precious

Re: Thanks Marilyn!! WOW...
When I first started on the FMQ journey, I bought the inexpensive, generic FMQ foot for $9.99. Since it was mostly plastic parts, it didn't hold up well. I think I went through 2 of those before I invested in the specific foot for my brand DSM. I think it cost $35. It's held up well & worked so much better than those plastic ones. Part of the secret is to get the tension adjusted well. I always set my stitch length to 0. If you have a computerized DSM, sometimes you have to adjust the setting for the weight of your fabrics. I always did FMQ on the medium speed. It definitely takes practice! I quilted many quilts on my DSM prior to investing in the Baby Lock Tiara II LA last year. Good luck.

Thanks Marilyn!! WOW...
I finally around to putting that FMQ thingamajig on my machine and trying it out. ZOOM... I am on my way. I did a bit of meandering last night on some sample sandwiches and I was pretty pleased with myself! Indeed! I need to get plenty of practice before I will jump to one of my quilts.. But, I think I will be comfortable with it soon.
Thanks so much... such a small little thing in your hand... a BIG blessing to me!!Tags: None
