    lunch date....

About once a month, people I used to work with get together for lunch. Today was that day. It was at a bar/restaurant that recently reopened. When one gal got there, she said the last time she was there was in 1974 and I said 'gee, I was still in high school!' It was then that she punched me.....

    On my injured shoulder!

It was then my sewing language came out and I said some very bad words quite loudly.

She then asked what the *#^^ was wrong with me and I reminded her of my injury. She turned white as a sheet. Quite frankly, she was probably lucky she was not carried out on a stretcher under that sheet.

So, here I sit in the pain I was in from about a month or so ago. I had been feeling so much better and wham! What a way to ruin a day......no sorry, no nothing. She just went and sat down, far, far away from me. She did ask about two hours later if I was okay and I told her no, I was in quite a bit of pain.

From where the restaurant is, you can see the sound (bay) from the patio where we were sitting. Shortly before we left, there was the Lady Washington, it looks like the ship from The Goonies, sailing by. What a great end to an almost perfect day!

Oh Bubba what on earth is wrong with people . Even if she didn't know your shoulder was hurt there is no excuse for her hitting you.

I'm sure the initial punch was meant to be a friendly gesture, but no apology after you told her it was the injured shoulder. Just weird and rude IMO. Glad you had a better ending to the day.

I never did find the *friendly* punch or slap to be anything endearing. Maybe I am too old fashioned. And no apology thats just rude and uncalled for . She should have left the lunch in embarrassment. Glad you had a nice view at the end. Hope your sholder is feeling better.

Wow, that must have been some punch she had. So sorry you are hurting again.

At the end of our Needlecrafter's group each week, we all circle up, hold hands and pray. At the end of the prayer I typically squeeze the hands I'm holding. Not hard, just a little squeeze. It's a pretty common practice, at least in my church. When I first joined this group, I squeezed the hand of a lady who has fibromalagia (sic) and she started crying. I was so upset and apologized profusely. I had no idea she had this condition/illness and felt like dog poop for causing her pain with a simple squeeze of the hand. To this day, I make sure I'm not holding her hand when we circle up.

I love your pictures and the stories behind them. Your quilt is lovely too.

                    So sorry about your shoulder.

I remember when I was in high school and had a very bad sunburn. I had a part time job and my supervisor slapped me on the back. She did it intentionally. She laughed her head off! Her opinion was I deserved it for getting a sunburn in the first place. I had to really refrain from violence. Argh - I still have not forgiven her even though I can't remember her name! And how many people intentionally get a sunburn? My bother took me to the Salten Sea in S. California. He is the type to just get darker and not burn - but not me. And his wife and inlaws who are naturnal blonds did not get sunburned either - just me - the brunette!
