Tuesday, looks like it will be a rainy one

It is overcast right now, but rain is in the forecast for later today and lots of it apparently. Temperatures are a lot cooler as well today but the heat and sun will return.

Laundry was washed, hung out and dried. A MUCH needed shower was had, and it felt so wonderful. I spent most of the day sewing those scrappy blocks together. My little friend came and sewed for a little bit with me. I think I have about 70 blocks made so far. They come together quickly and no seams to match up. At least when I sew I am not scratching. It is getting better but not quick enough for me. I am tired of being itchy.

On Friday we are going to get Maizyn. I can't wait to have her for the week. She may tire this old granny out but we may tire her out first. Lots planned.

Our friend Lonna, from Louisianna, is working tirelessly on her parent's home which is flooded. Prayers going out to her and her family as they deal with this. I can not imagine what they are going through.

Prayers going out to all those who are suffering in one way or another.

    Have a wonderful day friends.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

    Morning all

Glad you got your shower Monique
We actually went camping this past weekend (just one night)... haven't been camping in a gajillion years since the kids were little!
I only had two requests (ok... demands) in order for me to go willingly A great tent and an even better mattress...
Since we had to buy some new equipment anyway, I researched tents and found a great one for us - love it. Airy, even with the fly on. We also got a 22" high queen mattress... yup! No rolling onto the floor in the morning... works for me. We'll be going again soon for a few days. We did some kayaking on a peaceful lake where nobody else was, because everyone else was at the ocean (we were on Cape Cod)... ahhh... bliss. We even brought Ella kayaking - she loved it, although she did jump in the water a few times trying to get from my hubby's kayak to mine She looked like a drowned rat...

Today holds laundry, cleaning, and possibly sewing
Have a great day all!! HUGS...

Good morning everyone. Monique, thanks for the update on Lonna. Keep them and the rest of southeast Louisiana in your prayers. So many are dealing with flooded homes and businesses. Has anyone heard from MBCA (Beth)? She lives in the Lafayette area.

So sad to see all the flooding happening in Lousiana. Hoping all our quilty friends are staying safe and dry!

Songbird, glad you had fun camping. I'm hoping to pay down my credit card so that I can buy a couple of kayaks for Liam and I. I absolutely LOVE kayaking!

Not much happening with me. The barometric pressure has been wreaking havoc on my head...bad headaches for the past few days and ended up staying in bed yesterday.

Sunday we went to visit my border collie whom I had to re-home two years ago. It was the very most difficult thing I had ever had to do at a time when my marriage was also being destroyed. I missed him a lot and finally decided it was time to visit. I'm so glad that I did! He is so happy where he is. Gets to run so MUCH! Has so much freedom! He's a little greyer around the muzzle and has a bit of arthritis which is hard to hear as he's only 8 years old...but otherwise is doing very well and I am much relieved and reassured that I did the right thing.

Well I'm off to catch up on everyone while I avoid some of the yucky things I have to do today. uhg. Only 15 more years until I can retire! Can't WAIT!

Sending Hugs and Love to those in need! xoxox

Looks pretty nice outdoors but it's heating up again. Had a bad night so I've cancelled today's PT - wouldn't have been a good one as my knees need another day or so rest after yesterday's shots. I'll do a modified session at home with DH's assistance, he could use the workout too.

Going to spend some time getting the house in order especially my roll top desk. DH puts things down and says he'll take care of it later but now there is a big pile of his stuff all over my desk and I need to get some paper work done. Slowly but surely he has taken over my desktop and file drawers, even my little cubby holes and that's too much as they are organized for Taxes, my checking, as well as supplies. I was a secretary for many years to several professors and always kept my desk pretty cleared off so I could go from task to task easily.

Feel like a dummy, went to post office yesterday to mail some small packages but forgot to get stamps. Think I have a mail in form and will leave it in mail box for our mailman. I usually make a list of things I need get when running errands but it doesn't work if I don't look at it.

Need to switch to DH's computer as this one is doing crazy stuff, clicked off right in the middle of writing this post. Maybe it was trying to tell me it's time to sign off and get something done instead of moaning about them. Have a good day.

Re: Tuesday, looks like it will be a rainy one

Gosh, Louisiana really does get some lousy summer weather way too often. We had an earthquake at 12:18 a.m. (according to my clock). It was really quick and a jerky one. Between that and a spider I killed that was on the wall above our bed I thought I'd have trouble falling asleep. Fortunately, it didn't affect me and I was off to dream land in no time. I find if I stay up later I sleep better. I guess as I'm aging I just don't need as much sleep.

My friend who had the double mastectomy is finally healing now that they removed the expanders (for breast enhancement). For some reason her body just couldn't handle those things. Yesterday, I took her some dinner and I was so pleased to see her acting more like herself. She was never a big busted person so losing what she had isn't going to be very noticeable. She's also going to see about a prosthetic bra and then start spending some time looking for a dress to wear to her daughter's wedding. After the wedding I guess she'll start chemo.

I'm glad you visited your dog, Wendy. It's good for you to see that you did the right thing.

Monique, I totally understand your discomfort. I won't bore you with the details but I had a terrible time (for about a year) dealing with a similar issue. What finally helped me get over it was a wonderful little drug called Doxepin. It is a drug used for several different purposes one of which is depression. In my case, taking high doses of that drug, caused the rash and hives (all over me) to finally go away. It's a very powerful antihistamine. Don't ask me why it would help depression but evidently it does. So, not only did I become rash free but I was also a very happy gal. hahaha Remember this if the rash gets worse and doesn't go away. I'm just hoping it's related to your surgery. The fact that it's dissipating is a good sign.

Songbird - I'm wondering about a queen-size camp mattess. Is it inflatable? Your method of camping sounds right up my alley. I can't remember the last time we camped. Probably when we lived in Houston. That was probably twenty-four years ago.

              Rebecca,
This is the mattress we got (paid a bit more locally, because we bought it the day before we left). It has a built in electric pump.

We have a converter for our vehicle to provide electricity to blow it up. It literally inflates in minutes this way (you can use an old fashioned pump if you need to as well, but it will be slower). These do 'give' a little, the first few times they are inflated, that is normal. It was so nice to wake up and not have my butt on the ground
There are other brands out there, so do your research to see what you like, but this one worked great for us!

Re: Tuesday, looks like it will be a rainy one

Another sunny a.m. here. But it seems a bit hazy. Must still be from those western fires. Air quality has not been the best the past few weeks -- ozone, etc. I started the FMQ on my quilt yest. Got maybe 2/3 done. I hope to finish it today. Since I did not add a border to this quilt, I'm doing FMQ edge-to-edge. I've had to play around with the tension more than usual & have had 2 or 3 thread breakages, which usually is not a problem.

Today is DH's & my 41st anniversary (2nd marriage for both of us). I wondered if he'd live through last year, but he's still hanging on one day at a time. Very weak, but he gets up & dressed every morning. He has to be very careful, since his balance is not that good. He says he doesn't need a walker or cane, but he sometimes holds on to the wall or furniture. He feels bad he can't take me out to eat at a nice restaurant to celebrate. He has so many food intolerances & allergies, it's been many yrs. since we went out to eat together. He's extremely allergic to MSG; that always was a hazard when we used to eat out. His weight now is only 100 lb., so he's really skinny. But we're still together, & the Lord keeps us in His care day by day. I will be thankful for what I have. The reality is, we have to face life like it is, not as we wish it were.
