    ALLERGY alert

So today was the BIG day. The drain coming out hurt like the dickens. Staples weren't bad at all. Nurse advises that I get this rash checked out. So off to emergency and I was so very lucky I went when I did. One hour, in and out. It seems like I am taking an allergic reaction to the glue on the bandages. Every place it stuck to is rashed. He gave me a cream, but man it is still itchy. I only have one little bandage around the spot where the drain came out. More benadryl, at least when I am sleeping I can't scratch.

NO NO NO shower until MONDAY!! This makes me very sad, I REALLY want a shower.

Ugh, I have an adhesive allergy. If they put tape on me it will actually pull my skin off with it. It doesn't breathe with the tape on there and my skin doesn't like that. I have to use flexible fabric bandaids if I need one.

Glad those drains are out - "You'll feel a slight sting" is the biggest LIE they tell when they pull those out. Hope you heal the rest of the way with no more issues.

Oh my gosh, Monique. So sorry for the itching and the feeling that you won't get relief. Probably no comparison, but I have had shingles 4 times and the itching was, at times, unbearable, so I REALLY can empathize with you. I will continue to pray for your healing and the easing of this awful itching. Tomorrow is a better day. Seems trivial, but pray that believing this will make you feel hopeful and better.

Mittens made from bubble wrap are recommended.

Good thing you had the rash checked out. If you have any future surgeries or reasons to use the same product, make sure you tell them of your allergy. It should be documented in your medical record as an allergy. Hope the cream clears things up soon.

Oh so not fun. Be sure to make sure it is documented in your records. Plus you tell them every time that you go in.

I'm on benadryl too. My hives came back yesterday behind my knees, in my armpit and one on my stomach. I've been using the Aveeno anti itch lotion that bubba told me about. A cool gel pack is also helping me. But trying to sleep...ugh, they get itchy being warm under the covers but the rest of my freezes with no covers. I combined some wine and benadryl and got some sleep.

Oh no, I feel your pain!! I too am allergic to the gum - when I had my daughter I had to have an epidural and they taped my back all the way from the top to the bottom of my spine!! If I had known they were going to do that I would have stopped them!!!

Wine and benadryl, sounds like a heavenly sleep.

Uuugghhh! That is awful! I have terrible allergy too and it is miserable. I had a large adhesive bandage over a c-section incision 16 yrs ago and when the nurse pulled it off (with my skin ans the skin glue the dr used instead of staples) she almost fell over in shock.

In regards to the drains, no good way around those. Just need to bite a bullet and make sure they pull FAST!
