    It's Friday!!

Good morning all. Hello Friday! It's going to be a hot, humid weekend. Sis and I have decided not to work in the yard in Brooklyn this weekend. We are still waiting on a closing date for my son's condo so that we can set the closing date for the Brooklyn house. We thought maybe it would be within the next couple weeks but now it looks like it will be a bit delayed (seller of the condo hasn't completed the fixes that need to be done before they close). That gives us at least one more weekend. We just need to go through the yard and dig up some things that we are going to transplant at various other family members homes. A number of our cousins want "a piece of Brooklyn". It was the place for many family gatherings.

So, that means I'll have a full weekend at home. And I have just two more lattice rows to attach on my quilt and then I can attach the borders and finally have the top completed. I am hoping to put a big dent in that project this weekend (dare I hope that I'll finish it?)

So now it's off to work I go. Have a good day everyone. Keep cool.

    Re: It's Friday!!

Good morning everyone, I slept in this morning. Still terribly itchy but today is the DAY that staples and drain come out. Can you tell I am excited? The itching is still really bad so I will see what the nurse has to say about it. I did get more cream yesterday but it doesn't really help much.

I went shopping with my friend yesterday. I was tired when I got home.

Today won't be much of anything until the BIG moment when the nurse's car pulls into the yard.

We got some much needed rain last night, but it could rain more. Today is an overcast day with rain.

    Have a great day everyone.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

      Morning Ginny and others
We are desparate for rain around here and although it seems to rain all around us, we have not had any rain for more than a week and are now in confirmed drought 2 conditions. I'm getting a little concerned about our well. We have been here for 34 years and have never had a problem, but....there's always a first time. As a result, I am using water sparingly That just means I only wash dishes every two days and run the dishwasher once a week, double up on laundry loads, etc. Its not something we've ever had to think about before and now I am so conscious of water consumption.

Monique - I know this is the day you have been waiting for! Good luck with the staple and drain removal....then, please rest for a couple of days!
Wendy - I hope you can get back into the routine without too much effort. I always found it hard to go back to work after a weekend, so after two weeks, it can be tough. Hang in there.

This is going to be a very "social" few days. I am meeting my bowling team for lunch today, tomorrow is the wedding reception for our neice, Monday is breakfast with a friend I used to work with, Tuesday is the Row by Row Experience Road Trip, Wed. have a dr's appt, Thurs, coffee with another friend that I used to work with and just found on Facebook! I'm tired just thinking about it. Not sure when I will have time to get some quilting projects done. Who says that you have all kinds of time when you retire?! It is going to be a fun week! I'm especially looking forward to the road trip.
Have a wonderful day everyone....prayers and hugs for all.

          Good morning,

It's been a while since I've posted. A lot of things have happened and I've just been busy. I'm hoping with fall coming I can get back to quilting. I need to get my quilting room cleaned up, it's been a catch all for anything and everything. I have been watching the tutorials and see a few quilts I want to make.

My daughter had surgery so I'm home for a couple of weeks to take care of her. I will be working from home, as you can see. My mother-in-law passed away in May and DH is the executor so I've been busy helping with that. And then there's work, it's been overwhelming. I'm getting ready to hire someone to help, and maybe take some of the work load off, so I don't have to bring work home with me.

Well time to fix DD something to eat and then decide what I'm going to do today. Have a great day!!!

For all the birthdays I missed while I was gone.....hope you had a wonderful day!!

            Morning all,
Today looks to be another hot and humid day. They've been forecasting rain but so far it seems to scoot all around us and we haven't had any. It's very dry and much needed.
Too hot to stay in the sewing room for long periods but I have managed to get some cutting done for a quilt. Maybe will get a bit more done today.

Spent part of yesterday organizing an Alzheimer's walk for our Pilot Club, and getting my division report written for our newsletter. It was a good day to be inside with the air conditioner going, time well spent.

Must get moving want to get my planter's watered before it gets too hot out there. Thinking if all our members who are having health issues and sending healing thoughts and some extra hugs.

Hate humid weather, skin gets sticky and my hair droops but I need to go out today for some important errands, think we need to have car's AC running before we get into it. Town is still sending Extreme Heat warnings so after errands no lollygagging around as it's back home ASAP.

Happy drain and staples removal Monique, hope that helps with the itching.
Bee, Isn't it so nice to go through old family photos?
Shirley - Nice to see you posting.
Ginny - Nice idea to share family home's plants with other family members. I have hostas from my grandfather's garden in my backyard for the last 55 years, we call them, the Brooklyn plant.
Peggie - Enjoy your social days.
Everyone else, stay cool if you can.

                Re: It's Friday!!

Morning all!! Just popping in before my day goes bonkers. Feast or famine around here for me and right now the feast is on...lots to do.

Monique I hope everything goes well with the nurse today and you are on the mend real soon!

PeggieP, it is DEFINITELY difficult to get back into things. Last year after my vacation was when I crashed so bad and ended up on leave...this year I feel only the normal "down" that you get after a good long vacation and having to come back to work so I'm thankful for that. I still have my moments but compared to last year I am leaps and bounds ahead of where I was.

Ginny, so nice that you all get to keep a "piece" of your family home. Plants and gardens are so amazing for that aren't they? It was very difficult to leave my gardens behind as I had many plants that were gifted to me, some from people who are no longer with us.

Shirley, so nice to see you back! Hope your DD's surgery wasn't serious and she is on the mend really soon and your workload calms down once you hire someone! Hang in there!

Going to visit my border collie on the weekend. I had to rehome him two years ago and I miss him terribly. Finally asked if we could go visit so we are doing that on Saturday. Will be a bitter sweet visit I know. :'(

Well off to get some work done. (((HUGS))) to all in need today and well wishes for those under the weather! xoxox

                  Re: It's Friday!!

We had a very humid and hot day yesterday that made being outside miserable. Then we had rain last night so today is suppose to be cooler which I am looking forward to. DH goes to the dentist today for 5 fillings. I feel sorry for the guy. He took today off work which is a good thing because he is sure not going to feel like doing anything after he gets done at the dentist.

I think the children are going to head to the pool for the last Aloha Friday which is when they have various games planned during three of the pool breaks. Our public pool closes on Sunday and the public school start back on Thursday.

I am hoping that I feel like sewing this evening as I need to work on the retreat favors. The time is quickly slipping away. Still not sure where all of the summer has went to.

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend everyone

                    Re: It's Friday!!

Hi, Shirley - Glad to see you back. I've been missing your posts. Sorry for your loss. Sometimes life just gets too busy even for quilting.

Wendy, How did your vacation go? Glad to see you back.

After all that weeding yest., I'm taking it easy today. I have a much needed massage scheduled at noon. I routinely get a full body massage every 4 wks. It's a wellness thing I'm willing to pay out of pocket for. I've had the same therapist for many years.

Cooler today. It was only 58 deg. this a.m., which is the coolest it's been in weeks. High might be only 82 today, which will be a pleasant change from all the heat.

I hope to get some sample blocks made for the Cutting Corners quilt pattern today. I hope everyone has a good week end.
