I have been given a porcelain doll by a friend who was going to throw it away......it was pretty dusty and neglected and I felt sorry for the poor little thing so I have taken her home, dusted her off and even shampooed and conditioned her long hair which was in a dreadful knotty state. She is very pretty and her certificate thingy says she is the "Princess and the Frog" 19 inch doll......hmmmmmmm frog has gone long ago......certainly not with her now.
So out of interest I have been googling these porcelain dolls and have become quite intrigued....is there anyone on the forum that knows anything about these dolls, and why they are collectable? I am presuming my newly acquired little friend would not be worth much as she is minus her frog and the elastic in her bloomers (oh dear, how embarassing!).
Is there any way to tell if she is "real" or a "knock off?". She has come with a little certificate thingy but I'm guessing anyone can print something like that off. She has taken up residence on top of my old Singer treadle in the lounge room and looks as though she was always meant to be right there!
Any help or information would be appreciated.
