Re: Any Interest in Books for Jenny
I guess I don't get it....This was posted less than an hour ago and obviously you feel slighted about not getting recognized right away. I don't know what you had in mind souled quilts, but it might be a great idea. sometimes, our posts aren't about us. they are about what might happen. I don't know the logistics for contacting the Hamilton Library to see if we can send books. Maybe Mccuen knows how we would contact Jenny to see if they are interested in our donations. They may or may not have staff to accept large amounts of books. They would have to be catalogued in and they would need space. They may have become a digital library by now like some of the larger cities are starting to do. I've never been to Hamilton, but perhaps one of you folks that live in driving distance might check and see if our donations would be welcome. Then we can check with the post office and get book rates and start our mammoth project if It were welcome.
So, come on Souled quilts...don't be a soured quilt...if you aren't here for the commoradarie then perhaps, you aren't here for the right reasons anyway. This forum is a life saver for many of us and for those of us who are lonely or for those of us who want to help other people or inspire other folks with things we truly love.success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiam

Re: Any Interest in Books for Jenny
I googled the Hamilton Public Library & have sent an e-m to them to inquire if donations even would be welcome. I asked if the books need to be new or if used it ok. I think we should ascertain if they even want books before we start a donation drive. It's a good idea.

Re: Any Interest in Books for Jenny
grammaterry, I've often read your posts and thought you to be a most admirable person. So very generous and giving. I've admired you from afar so to speak.
I have posted a few times and even gone out of my way to let someone know that what they were doing was appreciated. I've been ignored almost without exception. Having recently had serious surgery, and trying desperately to climb out of a pit I've been in, I've tried to get involved in something bigger than myself and matter to someone else who might be in a worse place than I am.
I thank you so very much for publicly scolding me. I needed that, oh how I needed that. It makes me remember to just stay away from keyboard warriors that want to shine while they blow someone else's candle right out.

Quoting grammaterry there.
My reason for not usually posting is because what I think and what I type don't always mesh. I have a brain disease that causes that, the recent surgery to compound that, and there's nothing I can do about my situation. My thought was to do something about someone else's situation.
What I don't need is someone who can't have the decency to PM me when they want to tell me why I should or should not be here. It's not like I came in here asking for something for myself you know!

Re: Any Interest in Books for Jenny
There is no reason for anyone to tell you the reasons you should or should not be here. We all have our own reasons. I personally did not see the post, because I was not on my computer...therefore I have no idea what it was about. I am sorry if one of members made you feel unwelcome.Blankets wrap you in warmth, quilts wrap you in love

Re: Any Interest in Books for Jenny
I think if you give us another chance that you will find almost all of here on the Forum try to be sincerely welcoming of anyone new. If advice is asked we give our opinions, boy do we ever! But never in a backstabbing snarky way. I did not see your post before you pulled it. I respond to lots of posts and try my best to keep comments positive, but once in awhile constructive criticism if it seems warranted. I would not deliberately say something hurtful. I think everyone's opinion had value even if is something I disagree with. I have posted questions or comments that nobody responded to but I just let it go and move on. I figure not every single thing I post is that interesting!

Re: Any Interest in Books for Jenny
Souled Quilts, please don't be offended! I often look quickly at the current threads but don't always take time to check "new posts" so I completely missed your post - and I'm sure I've missed others. It's not because I don't care or am not interested, I just am not on here all the time although I try to check in once or twice a day. This is a very friendly forum with many compassionate and caring people. Don't give up on us quite yet!Brenda. :icon_wave:
