Hoot hoot woot woot! I just finished the Strawberry Farms sampler! I changed it a bit from the original directions but when I ordered "olive green cashel linen" online I did not know that it would be a very different olive green than the original fabric. It was much more green, so I had to change some of the thread colors, but I am still pleased with it. I will get photos up soon, but I'm feeling great that its done. I have several other projects to choose from now! I have a Halloween sampler by the same designer, two different Santa cross stitches, a self designed "happy childhood project" from old photos, and a mom and me photo converted to cross stitch...I've ordered two more floss organizer boxes because I've bought over 100 skeins of different colors. But I think I'll just screw around playing Mahjongg Solitaire for a while!

Hoot hoot Congrats on the finish! You must be happy to be able to move on to a different project now.It sounds like The Happy childhood Project will be really special,how will you decide on thread colors for that?I don't have too much happening here,with my Dad here I'm kind of playing things by ear.He's been able to meet up with some really old friends from the past and he's gone out to lunch and breakfast so far to meet some of them.

Wow you bought 100 kinds of thread that in itself is amazing I bet you can't wait to use it!! I finally finished a flannel quilt I was working on. Had some issues with fraying and raveling and fighting with the thickness the fabric cause I did a double flannel binding. I don't think I was ever so glad to be Done with a quilt! It's for a wedding gift, wedding is not till October so I am way ahead of schedule. Now to make a chevron quilt for my gd. I have all the fabric just have to get started. I am making one for ME in between these two projects. It is a scrappy quilt, I love love love it, every color and print in the rainbow--and I am hq with big stitch and I have about 20 did colors of perle cotton thread to play with. This project has been so much fun to work on, even piecing it, I may never make another traditional quilt again! It is great not having points to match and not making the same block over and over and over--which for me is kind of boring. The top is all fine and I am about one third of the c way done quilting it. And I have a brand new quilting hoop made by Harry Barnett himself so I am loving every minute and not feeling guilty working on a quilt for ME!!!!!!

Yea Kim! Finishing a project is always so fulfilling. Then comes the challenge of what to do next!
I have several cross stitch kits left to finish. I bought a bunch of the perforated paper ones that featured different Santas from all of the world cultures. I have about half of them done. I had intended to finish them and decorate our tree one year. I have three full size floss organizers and a small one to take on trips. I know I don't have all of the colors, but I'm getting close.
Joan, glad the visit with your dad is going well. It's great he's getting to catch up with friends.
Look at you JJ! A wedding gift for October already finished. I'm impressed! We don't actually have a quilt I've pieced in use in the house, and certainly not one for me! I do have a wall hanging in Em's room, and I suppose it can come down and become a real quilt soon. Congrats on a quilt of your very own!

Today is machine quilting day. I finished all of the machine stitching on the CoC quilt I am working on. Now to do the hand work. I'm kind of disappointed with the background material. It stretched more than I would have liked, thus making the borders wonky. Hopefully once it is washed it won't be so noticeable.
Since I had the machine out and the dining table cleared off I went spelunking in the sewing room and found my JellyStone Park quilt I made using honey buns instead of jelly rolls. I made it to test the pattern and use up some of the fabric from a sale I couldn't pass up. (Learned my lesson on buying fabric online with out color checking in person.) I had a weather induced sinus migraine behind my right eye, so hoof trimming and deworming the goats was out. This was about as productive as I was going to get. The outer borders are all but done, and I'm deciding if I want to hand quilt the middle or just go for the machine, which I know would be faster. I have one more thread change and lap around the quilt to decide.
It will be nice to have it done. I may even lay out Em's Zebras and Sharon's Flowers for spray basting! How nice would it be to have most of my completed tops actually quilted? Yeah, we'll see.

The shop that is closing here has floss for a steal! It is not DMC, which is what I used and I can't remember the brand. Somewhere I have my cases of floss....three or four of them!!!! Aye yi yi.......

I need to sleep, and not take naps in the day.....waiting for his surgery is going to do me in!

Joan, I think I will use the same colors that I'm using on the six different Santa project as they are a nice, primary color scheme.

Cathy, I wonder if I am doing a similar Santa kind of project as it is six different old fashioned Santas from a Leisure Arts book that I found at Goodwill. They were intended as individual tree ornaments but I'm just making a framed picture of all of them. One is wearing gold, another blue, two red and two green. I've never worked with perforated paper...is it difficult? Sounds fragile!

The paper is pretty sturdy, unless it gets wet. There are no quarter stitches, etc. as the paper is a fixed grid. The next time I have them out, I'll take a picture so you can see them.
