    Saturday already

We've had a great week of vacation. Lots of beach time, gardening , family time, relaxing and reading. And even time to visit two quilt shops. Now today it's time to get stuff done. I am on my third load of laundry and dh has taken my car in for inspection. It's cloudy today so after he get back, we will probably do a bit of work outside. I also want to get meals prepped for the week. Tomorrow hopefully we will head to the beach again and have a relaxing day before the work week begins.

    Have a good Saturday everyone.

    Re: Saturday already

Today is a work day for us, but this time at our home. We are going to power wash our house and all the concrete. We are still fighting the battle with the millipedes. I will be mowing the yard alone today (about a 7 hour job) and I'm sure to be tuckered out when I get done. I hope I can find my sunblock and bug spray. This day will drive Dottie crazy. She has a meltdown every time I'm on the mower.

Thanks for all the nice comments on my gray Plus Sign quilt.

Ginny, glad to hear you got to have fun while you were off. Going to the beach sounds like heaven to me.

Wishing everyone a wonderful summer day.

      Re: Saturday already

Good morning friends! We've gotten somewhat of a break in the weather this week, but with daily thunderstorms. The lawns are loving it! Mowers had better come soon, or we'll be bailing hay!

I've been in the sewing room finishing my retreat favors. All done! Then I started messing around with lone star patterns. I dug out the ugliest jelly roll I had, one of those paper thing ugly ones from Big Lots. It was ugly on the roll but made a rather handsome lone star! I want to finish it this morning.

image.jpg. Auditioning several options for background fabric from the stash, what do you think?

Next week, ALL MY CHILDREN are coming to visit! Stashing the stash is necessary as two of us will be staying in the guest bedroom, aka as the fabric stash room! I really need to part with some of this, but what do I do? Shop for more fabric! Hit Hancock for perhaps the last time, it's getting pretty bare in there, so sad! That store has been a fabric store with various names since the 1970s and I've shopped there all that time. End of an era!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

        Morning all,
Enjoying the rest and relaxation of upstate. Good to see family members we don't get to see often. My sister and I will be dropping off one of my quilts for quilting, they did my daughter's wedding quilt and I was really happy with their work. When I come back up to pick it up I 'll drop off the 2 other quilts for the grandkids, then Christmas quilts will be done.
Weather is cooler up here so a nice reprieve from the humidity we had on the Island this past week.
Off to start my day, hugs to all in need of a few extra!

          CGood morning 🌞
Jinney, so happy you had a nice vacation, and all of that beach time. I would love to be closer to the beach. Thats awesome.

Barb, you be careful, meowing today.....we have a full day of meowing too, 4 acres here, and my mom's place too. Until it gets sold. Just part of summer.....you know.

I guess Michael, has to fix the a/c on Kelcis car, first thing. I'll get some laundry done before my quilting show's come on. ....I watch Sewing With Nancy and Fons and Porter, on our loacel TV station's.
Watch Jenny's new tutorial and usually a few more .....lol.....can't help it, I always see another one, I NEED to see. 😊
I record, Quilt In A Day, and watch it too. While I work on project's. This seems to be how most of my Saturday's go. Unless other plan's come up.

Stay safe, Be blessed, hugs to all.
          Enjoy your weekend.
          Until next time .

Not too summery today as it's cold.

Ginny and Cathy glad you enjoyed your vacations, sadly it ends too quickly. Barb, be careful out there while mowing, that Plus quilt came out very nice. Jean I like the cream BG for your star quilt. Bee, I feel like joining you in watching those quilting shows but, alas, i need to get going as I planned a few activities.

Hope the sun does come out and we were thinking of spending dinner time sitting along the beach while enjoying a fresh fish dinner from the fishery. Sun or no sun the shore along the ocean will be packed so we like to go a nearby beach along the bay. A lot quieter and we usually can find a parking space right where we like to sit along the walkway near the playground.

Jean, I like the cream background. It gives your star a nice, mellow look.
To all those going to the beach, I am so jealous. I was raised a block and a half from a San Diego beach and haven't been back since we moved when I was 13. Believe me, that was a lot of years ago. DH and I keep talking about the ocean but always seem to end up somewhere else on vacation. I hope you get to see lots of sand pipers, they are so cute. And stay away from the sand fleas!
              Have a good day everyone.

Jean, Jean, Jean!!! That is a gorgeous lone star and how awesome it was made with what you consider ugly fabrics. Now there's definitely a lesson there. I'd probably go with the white background but the yellow looks great too. If you go with yellow for the background will it go anywhere in your house (assuming you're keeping it)? The white gives more options in terms of color schemes. If you have someone in the back of your mind as you're making this you might think about the colors in their home. Since they both look great that's how I'd make a decision. I love the colors in the star!!!

                  Re: Saturday already

The white is much too stark, and jars the eye. The cream was made for it, like pouring cream over berry pie.

Hmm, seems to be some different opinions on what colors those backgrounds are. I see yellow (left) and knowing you Kona Snow on the right. I like the yellow, it brings out the yellows and golds in the star fabrics while the other is just too bright.

Love the Lone Star. I would definitely go with the yellow! The white seems too blah if you ask me but either way your quilt will be so pretty when you are all done. And I don't see a single ugly piece of fabric there! Some people say if you cut up an ugly piece into small enough pieces then it looks good.

Jean.....I have that same jelly roll so I know what you used, but I much prefer the yellow with it. Great save of some not so awesome fabric. That is what I did the JR race top with at that first retreat. I should get that out and revamp it.

Jean that Lone Star is beautiful and I so wish I were going to be part of your mini class. I first thought I liked the beige tone on tone because it drew out the centre but after enlarging the picture I do think I like the yellow best. Either way you choose, it will be a winner. I love it.
