Friday's here! Long weekend in the forecast!

    Hello Folksies!
Happy Friday, Happy Canada Day, Happy Fourth of July, heckfire shoot! Let's just celebrate life in general! In looking back over the years of all the holidays we celebrate together as a family, I would rank them in order of like this:
    Christmas
    Fourth of July
    Thanksgiving
    Birthdays
    and so on

Y'all know me - my family doesn't need a 3 day weekend to par-tay. We just enjoy get togethers for any reason .

My earliest memory of knowing it was a 4th of July holiday was when I was about 5. My parents drove up to my Mom's home in Staten Island, NY. Now don't ask me where it was exactly at but I definitely remember being under some kind of bridge, lying on a blanket, watching fireworks over the water. Like I said, we could've driven anywhere on The Island as my Mom calls it.

Have a wonderful weekend doing what you love to do -

    Sewing mends the soul.

Morning Blondie....you're almost a "regular" again! You should have been a journalist...your stories always make me smile!

We're celebrating Canada Day! Without fireworks, because they absolutely terrify the dog and cats, but we are celebrating!

We're having a barbeque/picnic in the back yard for the first time in years! - daughter and son-in-law and their 3 gorgeous girls will be here for an early dinner and then we will have a few sparklers. It will be a great time! There is a thunderstorm in the forecast, but at the moment, it doesn't look likely!

Tomorrow night is date night...something else we haven't done for a while because of hubby's schedule. Off to see "Central Intelligence" at our local theatre. Without pushing my luck, we might just get to Kingston (about 1 1/2 hours away) to pick up the Row by Rows at the 2 LQS's there!

Have a Happy Canada Day to all!

Happy Canada Day today and Happy 4th of July on Monday friends.

Well done work for the week. I am glad it is over. I work all next week, but I will use that word loosely if there is a postal strike. I won't be able to accept any mail, nor will there be any mail coming in or going out. So I should have lots of time to quilt.

I work until Thursday this week then Bonnie and I are off on our Row by Row road trip for 4 days. I am really looking forward to that.

So this morning there is a Canada Day Flea market, a parade later and fireworks tonight. Then tomorrow here in my little town, they are having a parade of lights on the lake and then fireworks. We have been invited to watch from a friend's place right on the water. Sounds like a lot of fun indeed.

So on that note, y'all have a WONDERFUL and SAFE weekend.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

Good morning and Happy Canada Day, Happy 4th of July weekend and Happy Friday. Going to be another busy day at work but I got a good jump on it yesterday so it should be manageable. A lot of what I am hoping to get done today depends on me getting info from others so I am at the mercy of other's peoples response. I have let everyone know that I am not there next week so hopefully things will come to me in a timely fashion.

Have a great day all. Be safe.

          Morning all,
Happy Canada Day, And 4th of July to all! Wishing everyone a safe and happy weekend.

Started on my granddaughter 's Christmas quilt after much procrastination. Have to pick up one more piece of fabric. It called for 9 fabrics and I must have read it too quickly as I had the number 8 in my head when I bought the fabrics
          .
Last night was the last of the classes I teach, kind of bittersweet after 18 years. I am now fully retired from the cake decorating business. Will just be baking for fun now mainly for the grandkids special occasions if asked.

Not sure what today's weather will be looks like the sun wants to break through the clouds but having a hard time of it. Maybe a shower in the forcast which will be one less trip with the watering can around the garden. I had the first moon flower of the season last night what a pretty sight! The flower opens at night and is faded by 10 or so in the morning. If you haven't seen this flower it looks like a white petunia but the size of a plate. Last year was the first year my husband planted some. He usually finds some unusual plant to try out each year. This year he planted some Red Bean Hyacinth on the trellis. It is a very aggressive grower. Can grow up to 20 feet in the season and get purple flowers and purplish color pods that look like peas. It's already almost to the top of the trellis.

Well, better get a move on with the chores that need doing and another cup of coffee.
Hugs to all who may be ailing and need a few extra today.

Wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday.

Nothing to report here other than a very sleepless night, so I'm going to take life in the slow lane today.

              Yay Friday!!!!!

It's just me in the office today; it would be nice if the owners would let me go home early, but...not sure yet?

DH and DD are on their way to visit family in Maryland; they left yesterday morning and should be arriving sometime this afternoon to their destination. So......I have 5 glorious days by myself to clean, and quilt without interruption! To do what I please and when I want to do things!

I'll probably miss them right before they come home?

Happy Canada Day and 4th of July everyone!

It's raining here! It hasn't rained in weeks, so this is great for the flowers and lawns, but not so great for those trying to celebrate outside today.

It's been an interesting couple of days. I had asked DH for sewing classes (garment sewing) for my upcoming bday. I went up to the shop yesterday and signed up. So I have 6 classes on garment sewing and 2 classes on sewing with knits. My current goal of learning to sew garments is to sew running gear for DH and me. We both have a 30" inseam and most running tights are 4-6" longer than that. As a result they bunch at the ankle, and drive me crazy!

I have also hired a running coach. Never done this before, but I need to get better (faster) at running.

Already been to gym and will be running my first 6km in 9 months tomorrow morning.

Have a great long weekend everyone.

Re: Friday's here! Long weekend in the forecast!

Cloudy & sprinkles here. I did muster up enough energy yest. to spread the fertilizer. Had to take advantage of the cooler weather so it wouldn't burn the lawn. It should start greening up in a few days. We had a brief shower last eve. & everything was wet this a.m., so it rained in the night.

I completed the FMQ on the main body of the baby quilt yest. & got 1 border done. Two more borders to go, then it will be ready to trim & bind. I love Angela Walters' pattern for Stacked Triangles for borders. Once you get it the rhythm, it flows & makes a nice border FMQ. I also like the wishbone pattern. I have both of Angela's books & want to get her 3rd one.

I plan to take it easy today. Finish the FMQ & make a start on the binding. No plans for the 4th holiday other than watch A Capitol Fourth on TV. I like watching fireworks in the comfort of my LR where there are no mosquitos! West Nile is always a concern around here. I had it several yrs. ago. Got bit when I was out at dusk watering the flower beds. Missed 2 wks. of work. Such terrible fatigue. Others in Colo. were not so lucky. Some ended up in ICU with long rehabs. Several died. Make sure you protect yourself from the mosquitos.

                  Enjoy the holiday.

Had a bit of trouble getting here today as I am using DH's computer. Lucky that I found an old Favorites list from when i used it years ago and was able to get to the forum. He uses his computer mainly for his photography work and an occasional email check but the rest of the functions are no longer supported by Microsoft and all it wants to do is to load Windows 10. I'm hoping the computer guy can get my computer going good as I'm not in the mood for getting a new system to navigate.

No plans for the weekend, beginning of the week DIL emailed they were thinking of having a BBQ but no word since then. May be a good time for DH and I to relax and enjoy a quiet weekend, that is until the 4th of July Fireworks start later tonight.

Having fun looking at New England real estate. It's so darn hot that dreaming of a place in the northeast on a lake, river or stream is a very appealing fantasy. Maybe some day it will become a reality.

Have fun over this holiday weekend, everyone.

Happy Independence Day and Canada Day to our northern friends. It is supposed to rain all weekend into Monday but we are gonna brave it. My sis has a huge party at her cabin on Sat for the 4th celebration. Her DH and sons are all pyromaniacs and put on a great fireworks show at dark. Sun we are going to head to the lake for a few days. My only time this year I will probably get to go. I will take some sewing with me.
I have managed in the past few days to actually get some quilting done. I quilted and got the binding on a PICU quilt. I also took one quilt top apart (donated to me, but very big) and get 3 quilts out of it after adding borders. Also got the border on another quilt. I will try to get them sandwiched to take with me...if not I will just take materials to make tops. It will be very hot, so most of my time will be spent in the rv. DH will be night fishing so I will have plenty of me time as well.
BTW...have to tell the great new. My Gabe has gotten a hit in his last 4 ball games.....this is HUGE in case you didn't know.
Hugs and blessings to all. Prayers for those in need.
