    Hello! I'm back from Iceland!!

Hi all! Although I admit I'm not as present as I would love to in this forum, lately I've been even less active because I spent two weeks in Iceland!!

    BlogPostIceland4.jpg
Iceland is a wild and marvellous country. We saw so many gorgeous things! We walked around the craters of volcanoes, we saw so many beautiful and stunning waterfalls...

    BlogPostIceland2.jpg
We had the chance to sail on a boat and go whale watching along puffins watching. We saw thousands of birds, visited an Arctic Tern colony as well, where the birds were very angry and free and quite so many I really got a feeling of "The Birds" the movie (although there was a sign advicing to protect ourselves using a stitck over our head).

    BlogPostIceland1.jpg
I loved the trip. We had a 4x4 jeep to drive and we even forded a couple of rivers. We saw wonderful things. What an adventure!

    BlogPostIceland3.jpg
A part of me is still there. Breathtaking. Although I admit that when we were there there was no night, it was always daylight and this really bothers me a lot. Luckily I had sewn myself and hubby a sleeping mask before leaving and I used it a lot!!

    BlogPostIceland5.jpg

And look I also spotted a quilt! Glued on the wall (that was painful, but...) I think it must be 20-40 yrs old, the waitress wasn't sure but asked the owner and we think it should be something like that. I loved seeing this quilt, it fascinated me!

    BlogPostIceland6.jpg

This is just some pics, I cannot possibly upload all thousands pics we've taken but I loved this trip!

I've wanted to go to Iceland for a long time. There's a "ring road" trip that sounded fun. I think volcanoes are so interesting. Did you soak in the heated water?

Beautiful! I went to Alaska one year in the summer. It never really got dark there either. Sort of darkish about midnight, but getting light again by 2 a.m. That's when I started using a sleeping mask. Then in the winter time they have those long dark days with less daylight. I wouldn't like that. But during those long summer days, they sure do have a good growing season. It's amazing the veggies they grow. Also the flowers were beautiful.

Sheeps everywhere! And I mean everywhere! Some cows and a lot of horses. We also saw so many birds, it was amazing, there were so many species! I'm sure my hubby who has a better camera has made great pics, I'll ask him to share Food was great! I was looking for the food we hadn't the chance to eat EVERYTHING but almost1 We tried a delicious deep fried like-donught sweet treat called "kleina", we tasted the dehydrated fish called "hardfiskur2 if I'm not wrong, which is delightful with the salted butter... lobster soup was great! I have to admit almost all soups were absolutely delicious! I also tried a magnificent fish stew once for lunch (the only lunch that wasn't a cold sandwich! LOL ) everything was always good. The lamb as well! I took pictures! Let's see if I find a good one!

Yeah basically Road 1 is the only main road. It goes around Iceland. That's what we did! We started from the capital, went north east, then down south and back west. It was amazing when we saw the first "one car only" bridge I did! One night at the guesthouse/hotel where we slept there were two outdoors hot tubs with soulphorus water (did I spell it right?!) and it was so great!!

Beautiful flowers everywhere here as well! I saw so many Lupin flowers, with a deep purple and violet colors! How pretty... like a purple sea. Anyway I really cannot live without the night every day!

Wendyyyyy How lovely to read you! yes those are true icebergs! We were at a glacier lagoon, when the ice breaks from the glacier they float on the lake. We were especially lucky because when it's cloudy they look very blue and are so beautiful. When it's sunny they look crystal-like and transparent. we even saw a couple of seals!
