Working on quilt for New Baby granddaughter, under the watchful eyes of Big Brother (6) and Big Sister (4). Discussion involves use and threading of serger and regular sewing machines, and the importance of being careful to avoid injury around sharp things.
K: "I wish I could sew."
Me: "You know, K, lots of children can sew. When you're a bit older, say, when you're seven, maybe I can teach you, if your parents say it's okay."
I keep stitching and chatting with Big Brother about various and sundry topics. Big Sister has run off to the living room, as four-year-olds are wont to do.
K: *Returns to sewing room, about 25 seconds later* "They said okay!"
