    And......we are back to Wednesday!

Good morning friends. It got a lot cooler around these parts yesterday but it was still a beautiful day. I got laundry done and picking up around here. Not much else. Had a 2 hour nap, woke up at 5:30. I am trying to cut out these 2 hour naps in the afternoon. I still sleep at night, but sleeping away the day I don't like.

Hair cut got put off until today. Work until 1.

    Have a great day everyone.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

    Morning Everyone,

Can you believe it's June 1st already! Today is my interview for the CASA position I would like to have. Wish me luck. This has been a fairly long process. After this I will undergo drug screening and then 5 weeks of training.

I sewed a little this morning on the sashed half-hexie top. I love sewing while everyone is asleep.

Hugs to everyone who needs them....I will check in later this afternoon. Have a great day friends!

Re: And......we are back to Wednesday!

Good morning all. Another sunny morning here. Yesterday was a bit of a sad day here at the house. We had to have a very large tree that has been providing us with a beautiful sight from our kitchen window and while sitting on our front porch taken down. Coming home from work and pulling into my driveway brought tears to my eyes. Everything looks so stark and bare out there now and we have to rethink how we care for the other growing things out there. They do not have the shade they have been used to. I am on a quest now to find the perfect replacement tree for our old friend.

On a much happier note, my son and dil have another visit with the doctor today and if all is still looking good, they will share the news of their pregnancy outside of the close family circle. We are all so very excited and optimistic.

Good luck Barb with your interview.

      Have a wonderful day everyone.

Good Morning and Happy June 1 ~
Late start for me - I went back to sleep after hubs left for work. I finished the inserts for the louvre doors in the kitchen yesterday. I will be taking pics soon and will apologize right this minute for what a poor photographer I am. Here is one little pic I took yesterday morning of one of the yellow walls. Notice Max outside on the deck wondering why in the world he is not inside with me. You will also notice that I have not finished painting the old hoosier yet.

Below is one of the cabinets with the shirred inserts. Told you I was a terrible photographer.

Off to skype with the DD. Have a wonderful day. Blessings and SMILES to all.

Bubby...good luck on the interview and training; I have realized that since I started my new job at the first of this year, how swiftly the past 5 months has flown. It does help when you're doing something you enjoy!

And I feel the same about sewing when the rest of the house is sleeping...I finished the second block if this at 50 AM today!

Sunny and cool this morning, a perfect day to get things done without breaking sweat. I've got a pile of mail to go through and several phone calls to make and will get to them as soon as I have my 2nd cup of coffee. good morning sun.png

                  Happy Hump Day Everyone!
Now that the weather seems to have returned to more normal conditions with much less humidity and more moderate temperatures, it is time to attack the flower beds. Having been away last week, they are in much need of weeding and grooming. I missed out buying any annuals at the garden centres, so will have to plant some seeds. With any luck, I might have some flowers by September!

Barb - Good luck with your interview!

Blondie - Your pictures look great and I love the shirred curtains.

Hope everyone has a terrific day.

Re: And......we are back to Wednesday!

Good morning everyone. It is very sunny here today.

I woke up to something amazing that made me cry. As some of you know, I made quilts for a family affected by the Fort McMurray forest fires. Well, I don't know them personally. I only know the wife through a running group we are on called Run Junkees, but felt I had to do something.

At any rate, they received my care package yesterday, and what she wrote on Facebook made me cry. My quilts will never be in a show. In fact, I only did stitch in the ditch quilting on these quilts, and my sitd quilting is often wonky, but I know they don't care. Am happy that I provided some comfort to them.

There was also a quilt for the dog, which some of you might find weird. When I first thought about offering my quilts to this family, my husband immediately said that I had to make a quilt for the dog too. A number of years ago, my vet saved my Java's life, and as a gesture, I made some quilts for the clinic to go in the crates. There are even crate quilt patterns which were posted after Hurricane Sandy.

I also included two sweetpea pods for mom and daughter. This was my first ever go at a zipper. I think they turned out ok.

At any rate, I will stop rambling today. I posted pics in the Show and Tell folder if anyone is interested.

Have a great hump day everyone.

                        Morning all!!

Barb...good luck with the interview. Drug test!? Is that like a standard there? I have never had to do that in my life! But I guess I have worked at the same employer for 25 years. I wouldn't know what to do out in the "real" world! LOL!

Ginny, that is so sad about the tree. My aunt has lived in the same house since I was a babe and she had this gorgeous, huge tree in front of her house that had to be taken down. It's so sad when that happens. Congrats on the baby news though! That IS exciting!

Blondie! Kitchen is coming along beautifully! Can't wait to see it all done...what's a hoozier?!

Busy day yesterday and I am tired. Had a refugee committee meeting and they always run until 10 pm! It is such a good feeling to be helping families though! Helps put my own life very much into perspective.

Another busy work day then groceries after work. Then part-time job of typing and website editing for a lady so lots to do! Sending love and hugs to those who need them! xox

Good luck with your interview. Are you interviewing for a paid CASA position or as a volunteer? I was on our local CASA Board of Directors and went through the training to be an advocate. I've never taken a case because emotionally I just don't think I could do it.

Wendy, it's become routine in the states to perform drug testing and a background check. Some businesses also perform fingerprinting. It's a large expense for the employer but well worth the cost.

I would view that as a major invasion of my privacy and pretty insulting actually. I hope that never happens here.
