It's Tuesday and it's officially SUMMER today

    Morning, Ladies
I know, I know, it has felt like summer in these parts for over a month, but it isn't officially until a little later today. Around 1ish according to my man. Tell that to the power company who will be charging high octane prices for the a/c that's been running non stop! LOL.

Never thought I would say this, but, we do need some rain. It has rained all around us, just skipping our road, leaving us with just lightning, thunder and wind. Putting on my dancing shoes soon for a rain dance. I just saw earlier this morning about some twisters in Nebraska. Anyone in our group from Nebraska? Be safe.

Since the Anthony trial was put off until this morning, I did sew a wee bit with sis yesterday. We are working on a masterpiece but I can't share it yet. I need to get some pics. Will continue today with our various projects.

I am sitting here thinking, This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Hope you can do the same. Blessings!
    Sewing mends the soul.

Morning Blondie! I will rejoice in this day and be glad, thank the Lord! Probably no sewing for me today, although that is all I want to do it seems. Today is a day of house cleaning for me. Family is coming into town tomorrow for a wedding this weekend. I am so looking forward to having both my sisters here for a visit. One sister has never been here. Just wish they had more time so we could show them the sights. I wish I could send you the rain we're gonna get while they're here. Looks like thunderstorms and cool temps for the next couple of days. We've had plenty of rain for a while.

After the wedding this weekend we are headed to Lancaster PA for a week with one of my sisters. Can't wait to check out some of the wonderful quilt shops there. We're also going down to Gettysburg. So if any of you know of some great shops for me to check out, please let me know!

    Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Blondie & Martha and everyone else. Happy Summer! Yesterday and today are lovely weather wise with temps in the 80's. YAY! I finally go myself out for a walk yesterday and hope to today before running my car over to the shop to have another wheel bearing replaced tomorrow. I hate this whole car shuffle process along with the dumping dollar after dollar into the car. Oh well, better to be safe.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I got a sewing machine for my husband. Good trade, huh!?!

        Hi everyone! Happy Summer!

Martha - there are many shops in Lancaster to hit. Have you ever been there?
First go to http://www.quiltart.com/lancaster.html actually you could type in on Google - Lancaster quilt shops - and scroll down until you come to that website. Scroll down and it gives you a list of shops to check out. If you click on the individual shops, most of them give you directons, hours, and some have a photos of what's inside.
The lowest prices I have seen are from: The Fabric Shack (on Rte. 340 between Bird in Hand and Intercourse), Zooks (in Intercourse about a block away from The Old Country Store on the opposite side of the street), Obies (on Rte. 22 in Goodville - about 20 minutes from Intercourse - a Must See if you want to see so much fabric in one place that you will probably never see a store like it again), and Sauders in Denver, PA which is about probably half an hour from Intercourse too, and Log Cabin Quilt Shop which is beside Ruthie's on Rte. 340 (remember Rte. 340 is the same name as Old Philadelphia Pike). The Log Cabin Quilt Shop looks small until you walk inside and go to the back. You can park in the lot behind Ruthie's - and that's the place with the huge bear out frontright near an underpass.
There is also The Old Country Store (with a huge parking lot behind it), Burkholders which is a huge fabric store - I always get alot in there, but is kind of hard to find out in the middle of nowhere but definately worth the trip, and Hayloft - is above a grocery store which goes around in a U at the top of the store - good prices on their precuts - we always go there.
Well - heck - when I go to Lancaster it's an hour and half from me and we go for 2 days. We hit all those shops I mentioned.
We map out the shops and the hours and do them in a driving order usually.

Today is rainy but I still plan on getting my walking in and humid outside so our A/C is running too. When it hits 80 inside, it gets turned on.
Need to get to the sewing machine. Did pick up more needles in case I break any more. I should wear safety glasses when I free motion on this thing!
Well, best run for now. Have a great day everyone!
        Hugs,

Re: It's Tuesday and it's officially SUMMER today

I want to go back to Lancaster with TRISH!! I've been in a lot of those shops and was over-wowed! Absolutely love them. I still have fabric from PA that I need to cut into . . .

Sending some fresh, cool air to Blondie with enough rain to do the trick. We were under tornado watch last night - but only got mild winds and enough rain to sparkle up the deck . . . and probably chill off the pool so we won't be able to swim without chatters. Wish I had a heater.

Last night I persuaded Al to take a short walk with me - while mowing on Sunday I spotted the first batch of ripe raspberries. We each picked about a quart in less than 10 minutes. Delicious with whipped cream. I may make a cobbler with some today. There are about five or six spots of wild berries around the edge of our property. The spot we picked from last night was a new area to me - I didn't realize there were berries there. They were large, ripe and ready. The other spots aren't quite as far along - and I am truly hoping they do get bigger than they appear right now. I think all these areas are propagated by bird droppings . . . One year the wild turkeys cleaned the berries before we had a chance. Last year it was so dry that the berries never fully developed. Hoping we get enough for some jam and freezing though. And the mulberries are almost ready to pick. We bring the grandkids over, spread a tarp and send the kids up in the tree to gently shake.

Heading to the sewing room to do the backing for my quilt and sandwich it together. Then I will play with FMQ until I'm comfortable. I ordered new feet for my sewing machine but they haven't arrived. Maybe today!

Special warm wishes, hopes and prayers for all my quilty friends. Hey, Jan, what's the latest on little Emily?

Oh, Sandy--there is nothing like fresh picked raspberries. We use to have many wild bushes, but will have to search for some now. YUM! Enjoy some for all of us!
Blondie----wish we could send you some of the over flowing Missouri river as rain.
Martha--hope your wedding is dry and your shopping trip is productive. Sounds like a fantastic weekend
Trish---would gladly go quilty shopping with you! Sounds fantastic!
              Sewsoft---hello to you, too
Hope everyone has a great first day of summer. I have so many plans and so much to do.....don't know where to start! A dear friend is coming over this afternoon for a quilting lesson, a table runner project. Must make the best of the rest of the morning. Lots of chatter and laughter planned this afternoon. I wish everyone a day full, too.

I'll meet any of ya in Lancaster as long as it's in the summer (I have to take off work during school without pay) and I know ahead of time - like about a week's notice is usually good. I can always find a reason to hit the fabric shops!

Here is a photo of the baby quilt I finished last week.

                  Martha,

All the shops mentioned above are excellent. I especially liked Burkholders, Sauders and Zooks.

While you are in Gettysburg, if you want the most succulent meal, check out the Dobin House, best scallops I have ever had in my whole life. To die for.

Enjoy your trip, Lancaster is beautiful and the surrounding areas even more. Take a scenic tour of Amish country if you have never done so.

Well today was quilt day for Victoria's Quilts. We are having a quilt show in a couple of weeks and selling tickets for a raffle we are having in September. This is our only fundraiser and it is a pretty big one.

Woohoo summer is here. Everyone enjoy the sun and get out and get some Vitamin D.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

Re: It's Tuesday and it's officially SUMMER today

                        A late hello to everyone!
There were terrible storms here tonight and although I had planned to sew when BF went off for the evening, I had to huddle in the kitchen because the tornado sirens were going off and the wind was whipping like I've never heard it before. Had a pillow, quilt, flashlight, phone and candles in the kitchen with me (its the smallest interior room on the lowest floor and BF told me to hang on the pipes under the kitchen sink because pipes are solid) so I was trying to prepare. Thank goodness it finally calmed down with only a flicker of the lights going off. Once it was done I decided just to do some hand sewing downstairs and now I am wide awake from all the drama of the evening. Think I will go escape to blog-land until my eyes won't stay open!
Wishing you all sweet dreams or a happy morning....depending on where you are!
