    Beautiful Sunday !

Perhaps the weather folks have missed it again. I woke up to a lovely lovely day. I hear all the birdies singing so sweetly, my most luscious husband is making me a breakfast, and my little chi chi Gracie is on my lap with a stinky chew toy. Life is good. If the weather holds out I plan on getting out some root hormone and work on some of the clippings from recent forays into the garden. I declare I could start a nursery is they all took.
This must have been a bumper week at MSQC - all the newbies registering hoping to win one of the Fab Five prizes. I am so thrilled for our family here to increase. I really need to get back in and say hellos and welcomes. I haven't spent that much time online, but maybe while breakfast is cooking I can take a peek and wave a hello to a few.

    Sewing mends the soul.

    Re: Beautiful Sunday !

Good morning everyone! I would say 'sunny' but it certainly isn't. While the fog and rains did let me down yesterday, I'm not gonna let it get to me today! I think I will even seek out the Windex and get those kitty noses off the windows even though the sun won't shine thru them today.

Aren't the colors on the Daily Deal beautiful? I would order a pack of them but I have quite a few pre-cuts and I really need to do something with what I've got before I buy more.

Have a tad of cleaning to do here before I hit the road for Dad's. Doesn't look like any mowing will get done, but visiting is always nice.

I have a question for ya all. I was checking out my email the other day and this one shop was having a sale. While I was cruising the shops internet site, a box came up saying I had 7 items in my cart. I thought 'what? I don't have a cart.' So I click on it and this other lady's information came up - name, address, phone number - in a different state. So, I call her and leave her a message saying that even though for some weird reason that her information came up that she might want to check in to it before ordering - I mean, how safe can this site be if I'm getting some other persons information? I even left my phone number and wouldn't you think she'd call me back to see what it was all about? I think it's weird. I don't have credit card numbers or anything, but I still don't think that someone else's information should be coming up. Has this ever happened to anyone? Should I be calling the shop to tell them about it too? I did try to call them once but they were closed for the weekend. Maybe they don't know it's happening since they just had their site revamped trying to give better customer service. No, it's not MSQC. And, should I post the name of the shop on here to warn people? I don't think the shop is bad - I do think they have had their problems in the past cause when you read prior newsletters from them, it sounds like they did have some customer issues, but I do think they are trying really hard to make a better place to shop and I know the retail place in Lancaster is great to go too so I don't want to badmouth any place, but I do think people need to be careful on where they order from. Let me know your opinions please.

I've been to church and heard a great sermon on praying. Now, to get some things done around here and get the day really moving.

    Hugs,

Good morning, all! We don't have Blondie's beautiful morning here, it's just overcast and trying to rain, but it's Sunday and I'll take it.

Trish, that's a really odd thing to have happened. If I were you I'd call the store tomorrow when they're open and let them know what happened. They could probably use a head's up, especially if your feeling is that they're a good shop trying to provide good customer service. May have just been some weird computer blip.

Got my boy's QFK quilt all pieced and sandwiched yesterday and started quilting it. It's in blues and yellows and I picked a dark blue quilting thread, wanting the quilting to show on the yellow. It looks black, unfortunately, but it still looks cute, I think... I hope...

        Morning all!
Glad you have a nice morning to wake up to Blondie, it's 46, cloudy and really breezy here! Brrr....feels like fall! My tummy doesn't feel too well today and would love to stay home but it's BF's DGS's birthday (he's 2) and there is a big party to attend. If I don't feel better I am going to made a showing and head back home but I feel so guilty doing that.
Trish - Can you email that site/store with the issue using their "contact us" info? They might have a support staff who is available for problems even when they are not open. I wouldn't post their name due to lurkers of a bad nature who might take advantage of the information and then some blame could come your way for sharing that info. Just a thought to CYA. I am sure the lady you contacted will be on them as soon as she can.
Deb - your quilt is adorable! It is always so inspiring to me when someone posts their WIP. It kinda kicks me in the butt to get moving on something!
Well...better go wrap my gift for the birthday boy.

That's kind of what I was thinking too, Patti - the lurkers out there who try to hurt others.
Beautiful quilt Deb! It's so bright and cherry looking. I love it!

Got to run - to Dad's. The one kitty is outside thinking the sun is going to come out, but I think she will be disappointed real soon here. The sky is getting black again.

              Hey Everybody!
Our Saturday training went well. It was a long day and I ended up with a sunburn. (Thank God for Noxema!)
Mary - We have a small farm and we raise dairy goats and have a few chickens. I work with an animal rescue organization and we had a training for our volunteers this weekend. They needed to get some hands on experience with something other than horses, dogs, and cats. So I brought some of my goats and toher members brought some mini-donkeys, chickens, rabbits, llamas, dogs, and a few horses. They had to practice catching the animals, leading them, and then loading them into a trailer. A lot of fun for everybody. Anyhow, I was having trouble finding some cows to practice with. I finally found a pair that some one could bring.

So, after all that fun, I slept in a bit. Then I cleaned up the kitchen and Emily and I made a batch of cookies from Grandma's recipe. They turned out pretty good. I'll have to finish baking them when we get home. We are taking Mom out to supper as a belated Mother's Day thing. (I took her to Applebee's last Sunday after she came with me to the goat show I was judging.)

It is raining here today, so I haven't felt too guilty for not being outside. That and my sunburn from yesterday should probably not have any more aggravation! I hope to get at least another round of borders on my Objects of Desire top tonight.
Gotta run! The cookie timer is going off!
              Take care! Cathy

                Re: Beautiful Sunday !

Hi all. We've had a very rainy weekend which is to bad because my son came to camp and we were looking forwad to doing some kayaking together...oh well, maybe next time. Did play cards and games which we rarely do. Any I got a 48x60" quilt top done (for my SIL for Xmas). I'm going to use this one for the class on how to use the long arm quilter - have an appointment to do that next Saturday. Once I take the class (one on one) I can rent time on the machine by the hour. Also made a rag doggie blanket and it's in the washer now. Hope it comes out alright. It will be my first FINISHED project.

I got a sewing machine for my husband. Good trade, huh!?!

                    Re: Beautiful Sunday !

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. As I told my Mom, I make at least one blunder per quilt, but I prefer to say that I learn at least one lesson per quilt. Next time I'll use a lighter blue on yellow, and I did get my wish, the quilting does show.

Sewsoft, someone (I think it was Rebecca) mentioned Patsy Thompson's free motion quilting videos, so I googled her name and found them. She has quite a few, and they cover preparing for FMQ, sandwiching your quilt (on a wall!), and other tips and tricks. The "Loop-De-Loop" pattern is hers, and it is so much easier than meandering. I watched her video then put together pieces from a layer cake that I don't like, and some scrap batting, and just tried it. Practicing is really fun on a small 10x10 quilt sandwich, and you'll be surprised at how much easier it is than you think.
