    An Unexpected Furry Visitor

I let my old guys outside this afternoon and look what I saw on our deck railing! It got up to 54* here in Southwest Michigan today.

YEA!!! I used to love to find those as a child and would let them crawl up my arm, delighted with the little tickle. . . until they pooped on me.

That is quite the contrast with that fuzzy little guy, and the snow in the background.

Wooly worms are winter weather predictors. I hope he's not already here to let us know how bad next winter will be. I saw more wooly worms this past summer (and more solid white ones) than I've ever seen and this winter has been a rough one.

I know! I don't think in all my years I've ever seen one with snow still on the ground!!! We still have about 6" of melting snow .

We use to find them in our wood piles.

That's better than the scared opossum DH found sitting on top of his tire on his VW Bug this morning. With the dog and car sniffing around, who knows how long he hung around. Your wooly caterpillar is cute.
