    Friday is here

It's Friday and the last day of February. I am wondering if I am supposed to be happy about either? Or do I decide to change my way of thinking today since it is somewhere in the vicinity of 20 degrees and just say we are one day closer to Spring?
So, we got the gravel dump yesterday and in between clients I was pushing and raking rock around. By the time Luscious got home it was almost done. I am not as stiff as I thought I would be but good grief, why are rocks so heavy? And hard. I should also note that I did not cook dinner (a personal yay) and I slept like a log - or should I say a rock?

Enough of my blonde ponderings this morning. I am off for the weekend, folksies, so play nice and keep those fingers busy. Oh, and don't forget to smile!

Good morning Blondie and all my fellow quilters! Watching the news before heading to work...Indiana is about to get hit with, yet another, winter storm...looks like my neck to the woods is in for snow, sleet and freezing rain! UGH! Was supposed to get the grandkids tomorrow, but with this crazy weather, those plans are cancelled. Maybe I can finally get a haircut tomorrow before the storm gets here. Well, as much as I hate to get up off this couch, I need to finish getting ready for work. Have a great day everyone!

I always hated shoveling gravel! After work today the plan is to go pick up my sewing machine. The one I broke the needle bar on over a month ago. As it turned out the shop couldn't fix it and I was told I would have to take it to a dealer. Well said dealer is a very very rude man and I refuse to take it to him so I done some brain storming and thought I would let my BIL who is an engineer have a look at it. He was quick to say yes so he called yesterday and said it was finished. I am not sure if it will sew because I forgot to send a bobbin with it so when I get there we will fire it up and cross our fingers it will work. This is my Brother 8500 embroider machine too Please oh please oh please let it work.
The weather here is awful. They are thinking we are in for some more ice, sleet, and snow come Sunday night and Monday. Come on spring already Geeeeeessee I am so burnt.
Off to work I go. Yall have a great day

          Re: Friday is here

Good morning all. Another cold one here this morning. -4 here this morning. Brrrrr.

Well I decided to use the sheet I had originally wanted but was too small for the backing on my quilt. I cut it into four sections. I had some flannel that would work, so I added fabric to make it big enough. It worked out pretty good. Now to get it sandwiched. I will have to wait until next week to get back into the municipal hall.

I work today. My brother is meeting me there. He fixed a little train engine that wasn't working. I have been working on restoring a little train set that I bought Greg for his first gift from Santa. He left Santa the soother and Santa brought him a train. I did not realize that over the years, pieces had gone missing. I have been lucky to find them on ebay. I always thought the little engine worked but NOT!! The little engine that couldn't can again.

I work today but have three hours off for lunch. So my friend is meeting me at work and then we are off shopping. Sales are good this week.

I don't know what is in store for the weekend. I am hoping for warmer weather.

          Have a great day everyone.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

            Re: Friday is here

I had to spread 18 tons of gravel around the greenhouse I manage. That was 2 years ago and my back still hurts just thinking about it.

I took some of the advice I was given here and tried to make a little time for Tabatha last night. We inexplicably have owned a bag of roughly 100 tea light candles for years. I don't know where they came from and we don't really burn tea lights so I'm not sure why we originally bought them? Anyway- I sneaked down to the basement (aka sewing room) last night after supper and pushed everything out of the center of the room. I lit about 30 of the candles in a circle on the floor with some additional lights on various tables and shelves to set a mood. I made a custom playlist on the iPod with "Amazed" by Lonestar which was "our song" from when we first met as sophomores in high school 14ish years ago. Following that was the Alison Krauss song, "Baby, Now that I've Found You" which is an amazing song simply because it is Alison Krauss (One of the finest voices ever. Anywhere. Ever.) but it was also the song we played for the recessional at our wedding six and a half years ago. I called her downstairs to help me with something and I think she was surprised at what she found. We had a nice dance and avoided a house fire which is impressive given the amount of open flame and flammable materials this involved.

Little man is still a little confused about how days are for being awake and nights are for sleeping but if I have to be up all night I can't think of a cooler little dude to hang out with. Daddy's little Mini Cooper.

Good morning Girlees! Doin the Friday Happy Dance in my neck of the woods.

I'm watching the weather and for Sunday he is showing us in the ice/sleet band with a 1/2 inch accumulation. Yuck! Looks like a stock up trip to the grocery store is in my future. I was hoping we were done with this mess.

Talked to my dd yesterday and she may have a job lined up after she completes her licensing for cosmetology so that was some good news. She was checking her hours with her instructor and they noticed that on the termination form the previous school filed with the state the school claimed she owed them money. Ugh! After getting a little bit of run around from her former school, they said it was a $100 termination fee. DD still has her handbook and when she gets home Saturday we are going to look at it and see what we find before paying it. She checked with another girl that terminated the same time she did and she was not charged a termination fee. I would have gladly paid this 9 months ago when she terminated but dd has received no notification that she owed it. At that time, she and some others filed a complaint with the State against the school and I have a feeling that's why she is getting charged. I don't think her friend filed a complaint. Trying to see the bright side, at least she found it now and not later when she will schedule to take her test. I'm just glad she didn't finish out at this school as it just rubbed be wrong from the get go.

I have two sets of Pug eyes staring at me so I guess it's time to get this day on the road. Have a great day everyone!!

Enjoying my 2nd cup of coffee and getting ready to face the day. No fooling around doing chores or stuff downstairs as I need to head upstairs to my sewing room and get moving on a few items that needed to be done Yesterday.

Haven't checked weekend weather, almost afraid to as I have lots I need to do this weekend. One is to attend my Guild's meeting on Sunday afternoon that features guest speakers from local Modern Quilt Guild. Don't know if I want to join that guild but I'm very interested in hearing what they have to say. Before getting any new quilt ideas I need to finish a very traditional quilt I'm making for my Guild's show in May. Would I have time to make a modern quilt too? Probably not. What I really need to do besides finishing the traditional quilt is put together the shoe blocks from a swap several years ago with some Guild members. Shoe blocks are fantastic and the gals who made them keep asking me when will I put them into a quilt. Well, foolish me said I'll have it done for this year's show. Me and my big mouth!

                    Ryan, how sweet of you

We are suppose to be at 44 degree today. It is going to have to really warm up to make it there. Then we are suppose to get hit with storms the rest of the weekend and into next week.

I'm off this morning to the Missouri Star and to see my parents. Mom is finally starting to mend for her surgery. Yeah!!!! It has been a long couple of weeks. And at home yesterday was a very long afternoon because oldest son got a new spring on his braces and was in a lot of pain, so I am looking forward to a little quiet relaxing time today. Two of the kiddos are up to see me off this morning.

Have a safe and wonderful day

                      Hi Everyone,

I spilled a cup of hot cocoa on my keyboard this morning. I'm not sure how this is going to play out after things dry up. Where's Sheldon Cooper when I need him?? Are laptop keys removable? I tuned it upside down to drain out as much of the cocoa as possible. Things seem to be working okay right now. If I drop off the forum suddenly you know I have sticky keys.

Don't you just love the new Wonky Star tutorial? I'm going to make it for a July 4th quilt this year. I also want to make the tumbler flag that everyone made last year.

Wishing everyone a blessed day...stay warm and stay safe!

We're bracing for another arctic blast. We will get part one this afternoon which is just supposed to be sleet and possibly snow. Tomorrow is unknown but Sunday is when the Ice Age returns. I think we are okay as far as food and supplies are concerned.

I took Jeff's quilt to Reggie yesterday. Can't wait to get it back and surprise him by having it done at last.

Blondie, shoveling rock isn't good for your newly mended toe, Sister! I had to break up some concrete with a sledge hammer a few weeks ago and I was sore for a week.

I have loads of laundry to do today but I changed the linen on you bed as soon as I woke up this morning. That's a big job done. The Girls are napping for now.

Just lost a wonderfully worded witty post. Now I'm out of the mood for witty.

                        Ryan, you go, guy!

Blondie, rock raking is not for ladies with broken toes. Don't you have some young guy you can talk into doing that for a nice loaf of homemade bread?

Barb, my Y key is sticking on the computer. Do you know how many words have ys in them? Avoid adverbs! Hope yours dries out with no ill effects!

I'm going to work on my Sochi Inspired quilt. All bias, I'm sure wonky is in my future!

                        Have a great day!

Hi, Peeps! I'm first of all, very impressed by Ryan's choice of music. Alison Krauss just can't be beat. Heaven loves a man who can throw a bit of romantic in between the feedings and diaper changes. Yeah, Ryan!!

I have this handsome SIL who works out in his company's gym before work every night. He's not Arnold, but he's strong and in shape. A couple years ago I had a ton of river rocks delivered and after I used what I needed he said they could use some at their place. So I helped him shovel a truck load - I used a huge corn shovel (if you don't know what that is you have to look it up) and he used a garden spade. He took way too many breaks. Later he made a comment to a mutual friend who told him "See, I told you your MIL was a work horse." I think that's probably what has made me totally worn out today . . .

AT LAST - Al and I made a trip to KC HV dealer yesterday and picked up the new computer interface for my long-arm. After a much too large lunch we weren't in the mood to hook it up when we got home yesterday, so that's on the list of things to do today. Wish us success - otherwise I have a very expensive paperweight for sale.

My mechanic didn't get his previous job finished yesterday, so I'm hoping my Burb can get in today for some much needed tune-up and repairs.

Looking so forward to next Wednesday's BOM at the M* retreat center. So much fun!!

Don't go spilling anything, keep calm in the storm, stay warm, and most of all . . . just be happy!!
Sometimes, when there's a raging fire,
it's best not to try to put it out with gasoline.

Well very little quilting in my future today, or the next few days. I'm getting ready for a short trip to Florida. A friend and I fly out tomorrow morning from Kansas City. Fly back on the 5th. No big plans other than just relaxing and getting away from home for a while with a friend. This seems to be a good time to go, the forecast is for up to 1" of snow today, cold tomorrow and 4-6" of snow and sleet on Sunday. So I am going to miss some of the cold and snow. I'm taking my laptop so I'm going to try to keep up with the forums.

Good morning! Blondie I LOVE the sign this morning! So very "suthern"! I'm glad you got your gravel spread.

Ryan, I remember DH and I taking turns being up with our bright-eyed son when he got his days and nights mixed up. I nodded off in the rocking chair more than once. WTG on the romantic evening with no fire alarms!

Barb, I had to get a new laptop after spilling coffee in my keyboard. Good luck with yours!

Jean, try not to get too biased working on your new quilt.

As cliche as it may sound, I have to stock up on milk, bread and TP today. Not because of bad weather coming, but because we're running out! Going to check out the daily deal and new tutorial. Happy Friday everyone!!

Rhonda, I hope the ice misses both of us! DS is in Covington and he's prepping for it.
