    Crazy weather

So after 13 days of 40+C and many more days over 35C we had 1" of rain in 2 hours and are expecting another 4" in the next 24 hours!

A large damp patch appeared on our kitchen ceiling earlier and its getting larger and wetter. My neighbour saw my comments on FB and came over to help. She arranged for her B-I-L to come out to have a look as he has his own maintenance company. Its 10.00pm but he came straight away. Hopefully we'll be able to do something before the next lot of torrential rain arrives.

Never a dull moment. The whole world seems to be affected by such crazy extremes of weather at the moment (much of the area where we used to live in the UK is under water - near the River Thames)

Hopefully the rains can help put out the bush fires and it continues on into Victoria.

Here in Michigan we still have the cold and snow. I don't want your rain though! However, I can relate to your leaking roof. 2 weeks ago, we developed a leak in our living room. It took a week for anyone to come see about fixing it due to roofs collapsing from all the snow and frigid weather. It is fixed now and the roofer guarantees it won't leak in that spot again! He will also come back in the spring to inspect the work and make sure everything is good.

Auntpiggylpn, Your post reminded me to have DH check the kiddie pool we have above the dining room ceiling. For the past 2 years we have had a small leak in the dining room, we can see where the rain water runs along the roof beam but not where it originates. Had the contractor over several times and he's done a few small repairs but it still leaks so we put a kiddie pool over the ceiling to catch the leaks. Funny thing as it doesn't leak whenever it rains, just once in awhile.

In the North of Spain this has been the rainiest month of January since 1957! There is a serious leak in my sewing-room-to-be, but winds are too dangerous to check the roof, so I put a bucket to collect the water, that I empty every day. The barn's roof must be completely rebuilt due to the storms. We've had 8 red alerts due to winds over 100 km/h (60 mph) from the beginning of the year. The low lands are flooded: there are mostly wheat fields and the crop is ruined.

Well, it is 140 h now, and this has been one of the scariest nights ever. I was at my parents-in-law condo in town. Winds were 130-160 km/h (85-105 mph) all night long. With all shutters down, windows and doors vibrated like crazy, and we could hear things (roof tiles? branches?) falling on the street. Emergency vehicles' syrens all the time. It's terribly cold now, but at least winds have started to slow down.

We will take all the rain you can send us. I was just up in the central valley of California, breadbasket to the world, and the farmers are not planting because there is no water! No water, no food, no jobs. Pray for rain for us.

We are so sick of snow and cold! We were only supposed to get an inch today, but got almost 5 inches instead! The last snow was still here........Tired of shoveling....ready for spring. Hoping the winds die down for you and the fix for your leak is easily done.

This weather is truly nuts. It was in the 80's here in So Cal.. No rain, which we desperately need...
I know warm temps sound good to you all dealing with mountains of snow, but high temps here & no water means forest fires to us who live near the mountains with noting but brush waiting to burn..
Praying for a wet spring here,,, and a warm spring for you guys back east,,,
May the road rise up to meet you...
May the wind be always at your back...
May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead...
