    Wednesday Greetings

It's Wednesday Folksies! Weather is on it's way. School is closed for the day. Which means that we are going to be going down to Mom's and get her generator started, abd see what happens today. The snow is supposed to arrive around noon, south of us will be ice and hopefully we won't get any. We are expecting 8 to 12 inches. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those south of me as I know only too well how badly ice can affect your life. Forum sisters, hunker down.

Yesterday I cleaned a wee bit in the basement studio. I had sci fi channel on all day while doing the cleaning. What a trip to listen to Destination Truth while I was down there. I managed to make a reversible table runner and 4 reversible placemats. All that is left to complete is the binding. No pattern, just having fun. I like how it turned out. When I get the binding done, I will take pictures.

My dear husband said last night, I thought you were finished cleaning downstairs. I just looked at him sweetly and asked "Why?" Knowing full well that he was about to step in and all over it, the irresitable impulse of one whose thought process must go on in spite of knowing the answer, he blurted out -"You said you weren't going to sew anything until it was finished."
Silly man. I must sew when I get the opportunity. The sewing desk had been cleaned off. The machine called my name. I can always clean. Well, I can but that doesn't mean I will. Life is short. Sew first, clean later.

Last night I made a big pot of spaghetti. Today may be Chili Beans. Of course, that means cornbread to go with.

If'n y'all don't see me for a while, it means we have lost power. Be safe out there, keep warm, count your many blessings one by one and for goodness sakes, SMILE!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sewing mends the soul.

Good mornin Blondie and all here dwell here I am so sick of this weather. Never liked winter anyway but this winter has been a real pain in the butt. I am hopeing if any of you lose power it will be brief. We lost power for 15 days back during the 2009 ice storm. Being out in the country it was rough to say the least. As bad as it was though it was beautiful. and the silence during the day was deafening. At night all you could hear was the humming of distant generators. Very strange feeling but kinda welcoming too. Off to work I go this morning. It is a crisp 14 degrees this morning and I am not looking forward to getting on the bus. Brrrr it will take me all day to get warmed up.
    Yall have a wonderful day.
    Hugs

Good morning Blondie! You and LL hunker down and stay safe and take care of Mama Ruth! DH and I are going to the National Farm Machinery show in Louisville today. Lots of walking, sore feet, and pork chop sandwiches for lunch! There are a couple of crafty booths that I always hit if I can find them. Gotta finish my coffee and get spiffy-ed up a little.
Everyone down south and up the eastern coast, I'll be thinking of you and praying for your safety in the bad weather.

        Good Morning all,

got to run to the E-vet's office and get kitty - the story is in my other thread. Everyone stay safe and warm, and take advantage of staying home and do some quilting! (If you have power)

        Have a Blessed day!

Good morning!!! Another cold day here also but according to the local weather man relief is coming in a few days. I'm one of those crazy people that don't mind winter but even I'm growing weary of the cold. I hope all my fellow forum girls/gals in the path of this latest winter storm stays safe, warm and keeps their electricity. It makes things a little more bearable. I try to look at storms like this as a chance to slow down and just "be". If you feel like cleaning, clean. If you feel like sleeping, sleep. And by all means, if you feel like creating, create. I find I am happiest when I'm creating. The cleaning and cooking takes a back seat.

So by all means dear Blondie and everyone else, if you get snowed in sew and sew some more.

            Good morning....

So this is really what happened:

            ice_age.jpg

It is cold here -13 this morning. I have a serious case of cabin fever. Seems like every week-end we get snow and more snow. I hope Saturday is nice...I need to get out and go somewhere, like a quilt shop.

For everyone that is expecting the ice storm...stay safe and warm.

Well need to get busy. Have a wonderful day! Prayers and hugs

              Re: Wednesday Greetings

Good morning everyone. It is a very chilly start to the morning. It is -30C, which is -22F for you folks south of me. The sky has a pink tinge to it this morning. It will be warming up as the week progresses.

I did nothing but lounge all day yesterday. I did do one load of laundry and that is about it. I made another hair towel wrap as mine was starting to wear thin. That took all of about 10 minutes. I rearranged my remaining blocks for another square in a square quilt. I have to wait until my fabric arrives. I need to find another project real soon.

I work for a couple of hours tomorrow, and then I think I will get some groceries. Friday I sit with a friend's husband, he has alzheimers. Should make for an interesting day. We have dinner with friends (I repaired a little quilt for her and did not charge her) on Friday. I was asked to work Monday & Tuesday. The following weekend is my niece's wedding reception. They got married last weekend in Mexico. Greg & Roxy are coming for that. It is Roxy's birthday tomorrow too. Maybe I will make her something for her birthday.

So that is what my week is shaping up to be.

I wish you all a safe and happy day. I hope you don't get hit too hard with all this snow coming your way.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

Good Morning! It's a blustery day here. The wind is howling something fierce outside, the kind of day you just know you're gonna loose power. I hope not, I'm not schooled in working the generator. Ugh. I have things to do. But I can hear things blowing around on my deck outside!

I slept SO good last night! Woke up after a couple hours of sleep and I thought....oh no. This is it for the night. I prayed my way back to sleep. Literally! And woke up 5 hours later thanking God for his help! May sound silly, but I believe He even cares for our rest.

I have yoga this morning. Wednesday is relaxation and neck and shoulder work so it's VERY enjoyable. The Yoga studio is kept at a perfect temperature for relaxing. I really enjoy Wednesdays.....

Sad to hear of the passing of one of my favorites.....Shirley Temple. I still enjoy watching her movies and own a few. One of my DGDs loves her, the other one just doesn't get it. But I am a HUGE fan and always will be! 1779244_10152644639119199_478821520_n.jpg

Aw Libby, love the snapshot of you and Shirley. I think most of our generation grew up watching Shirley Temple Theater on the weekends. I can't pick a favorite. I loved all of her flicks. I was happy to read she passed in her sleep of natural causes.
Now as for the sleep, I sure know how that goes! Thanking the Lord with you for a good night's sleep. Hmmm, yoga for shoulder and neck? I need to check this out. I would prefer Josh to do massage since I am lazy. But yoga sounds inviting.
                  Love ya girlfriend!

                    Re: Wednesday Greetings

Good morning, everyone! Still cold here but we are promised above freezing today, if only for a little while! That's great!

Yesterday was somewhat of a pointless day if you get points for accomplishing things. I did do a load of laundry, and practiced for about 20 minutes on my longarm. I like to use wide backing for my quilts, because I hate to piece backings. I usually have a small strip left over from each quilt that is still attached to one leader. It could be from 6" to 15" long and as wide as a quilt. So I had a piece of this that was pretty long left from my Irish Chain quilt, I decided to use it as a practice piece for getting better at different quilt designs. I just attach it back to the top leader, slap a scrap of batting on it, and a scrap of extra fabric over that, and practice away. My machine has a stitch regulator, which I have always used. Yesterday, I tried using the manual setting, where the machine just goes at a certain speed, and you control the stitch length by how fast you move the machine. That was a different experience! I know good longarmers use that feature on their machines, so I thought I would try it. And if you don't have a stitch regulator, you have to use that mode. I'm going to attend a seminar on starting your own quilt business on Sunday, and we will practice our longarming skills, I wanted to at least have a little experience with this method before the seminar.

Delivered my Irish Chain quilt yesterday. My client is a lady who I've worked with in the past, she has directed several shows that I've costumed. She is not a gusher with praise, so she just took the quilt with a smile on her face and a thank you, but no gushing. I hope it is to her satisfaction. We're going to see the show Saturday that this quilt is part of, an old lady is in bed the entire time during the play, she needs a nice quilt!

HOpe you east coast people don't get too slammed by the weather today and tomorrow. I guess Atlanta took care of their problems by shutting down the entire city in anticipation of horrible weather approaching. Guess that is better than ignoring it until it hit, like they did last time. You folks in the mountains and piedmont area, sounds like you are going to get slammed by snow. Blondie, glad you are ready with the generator to keep you all warm. Good luck to all and hopefully we'll see some spring weather soon!

Good morning all! Had a hard time drifting off last night...so I am dragging a bit. Went to bed and DH had a silly movie on...robo cop..something and I laid there and watched the whole silly movie. It's work for me today and I would normally have club tonight...but our Pepsi distributor has tickets to the local college basketball game and all the managers are going ...I am going...pretty much cause I have to...lol. It's my alma mater and I love to watch them just not on club night! Gonna hijack Blondie's thread and post a link to my dd Alex's dorm room door picture https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater
It's for a contest, many of you have already clicked like...but if you haven't and have a facebook...I would appreciate it...we are losing to a door with 2 students in the room...

Off to get ready for work...everyone have a great day!!

Nah, nah, nah, nah, naaaaa!!! I get to spend the day with Jenny Doan!!!!!!!!

Okay, that's enough nastiness from me. I am praying all is well with everyone, be SAFE, be warm. Got up to our furnace being OUT. We just had our annual maintenance check up less than a month ago!!!!!!! Luckily the kiddies (and that new GGS) are downstairs and there's another furnace there. Al will deal with the repair man this morning (hopefully we're near the top of the list).

I have to pump gas in the jitney before heading to Hamilton. I'll be thinking of all my buddies who can't make it there!!

                            Good Morning,

Jeff is home today for Lincoln's Birthday. Next Monday is Washington's birthday and he gets that day off also. These holidays are one of the benefits of working for the State. A year or so ago they took back 3 of the holidays because the federal government was complaining that state workers got more days off than they do.

If we can get our act together Jeff and I plan to drive to Rolla to run a couple errands and to have our Valentine dinner. We avoid going our on V-Day and I always make us a special dinner at home.

If there is not one already posted I will put up a storm check-in thread so we can keep track of everyone in the storm path.

Stay safe everyone and stay off the roads if they are icy. It's not worth the risk. Hugs & Prayers

                              Good Morning Ladies,

Sounds as if everyone has there day planned out. For me it is off for my diagnostic mammogram and then on to work. Then home to deal with the directv people as to why two of my TV's will not come on but the one in another room is working. I hate dealing with anything to do the the tv or the computers. Wayne always took care of those things. Well time for me to make one last bathroom run the out the door. Have a safe day all and if you have to get out be careful.
