    IT'S A BOY

I found out today that my grandson and his girlfriend are having a boy. It is bittersweet considering that they are so young (he is 15 and she is 14) but we will love the little booger no matter what.

My daughter blessed me with her first child when she was 17 and her loser boyfriend (now great hubby) was 19. I was devastated at the time and shocked. She had been educated, warned and all that you are supposed to do to prevent teen pregnancy. She got pregnant anyway. I am now almost 6 yrs later the most grateful woman in the world that she forged and followed her own path. Her and that loser have a wonderful relationship and I am growing to be proud and love him like a son and they have blessed us all with two wonderful and well cared for little girls.

I know I did something right because she at least had the sense enough to fall for a guy that is capable of love and compassion. Not all men have that in them and yet she still puts those kids first, they both do.

I say congratulations because if you are mature enough to love that booger anyway than that young man has a great chance of being a great Dad one day!

Congratulations, Rhonda! My grandson became a dad at age 19, gave us the sweetest little girl to love on! The parents will need support, and you'll be there to give it and love the little one! I wish you all the best of luck!

Amen, Lisa - good to see you back.

My cousin's son was only 18 when his 14 year old girlfriend became pregnant with their daughter - 23 years ago now. By the time she was 19 they had two more - both boys and then got married. They haven't had the easiest road, but they have hung in there together and I for one am very proud of them. Their second one, Marcus, was the one with a brain tumor last year at the age of 19. Currently he is doing fine and seems to be in remission. Blondie's COC quilt was such a blessing to them all.

We learned our oldest was pregnant when she was just 17 and it was quite a surprise to us as well! I was 37 when Tyler was born and we raised him till he was eight years old, at which time, he went to live in Oregon with her and her new husband. That boy, to this day, is considered by Monkeyman and I to be our third child, even though he is the oldest grandchild. He is now almost 19 years old and has become a wonderful young man with a very nice girlfriend we all love. At Christmas, he gave her a promise ring.....

Anyway, congratulations and show that baby all the love you can because it truly deserves it. I'm sure everything will work out for the best with all the support you can give them.

                      Re: IT'S A BOY

My daughter came home at 15 and had my first grandbaby at 16. Yes I spent weeks crying. Not for the fact there was going to be a new life in our home, but for what opportunities she would be missing.
She asked me one day (5 years later) why her father and I didn't throw her out of the house.
I was stunned at the question as it had NEVER crossed our minds.
I told her, that having her leave her home would not make the baby go away and that if she ever needed family support that was the time.
Yes, it was tough, and there were times she might not have been the best Mom, but seeing how her children (now 2 daughters and 1 son) have grown happy and healthy and SO HAS SHE, makes me so proud of her.

Babies are for loving, doesn't matter when they arrive....... End of Story.

                          Re: IT'S A BOY

When my daughter and her boyfriend came to my house to tell my DH and I that she was pregnant. We were devastated, she was 16 and boyfriend was 17. She is 31 and her hubby is 32 and they have a 13 year old son and a 6 year old, ( his birthday was yesterday). They have been together for 15 years. They are the most loving parents and they get involved with their schools. They take their vacation time off at work when the boys have their vacation. She started dating him at 15 and they were always here. When it was his prom, she told me that they were going to an after prom. We gave her a curfew and 9 months later, my beautiful grandson was born. They really had to grow up quickly, and they did. They are married 10 years and their love for each other and the children just keeps getting stronger. My grandsons are such happy kids. He bought her such a beautiful diamond ring.
Everything turned out for the best. I always made them stay here so I could keep a close check on them, lol. She was grounded for two weeks, not because she was pregnant but, because she lied to us about the after prom party.
Hard times turn out to be beautiful times. I am sorry for bending your ear for such a long time.
Good friends are like quilts, they age with you but, never lose their warmth
