    How Strong Is YOUR Addiction?

    1510474_10202841873396843_821521430_n.jpg

My Addiction is so strong that I'd rather spend money on my fabric and quilting supplies than to pay for a vacation. That is the honest to goodness truth too! Here's my story:

My husband and I decided to book a cruise several months ago. We wanted to celebrate our 25th Anniversary in a special way this May. A cruise seemed so nice at the time...UNTIL...I felt like I was enslaved to it. I have not been able to buy much fabric or supplies because we are saving for OUR CRUISE. I feel like the Kranks on "Christmas With The Kranks". They were quite willing to SKIP Christmas for their wonderful cruise vacation, and here I am, SKIPPING OUT ON BUYING FABRIC for a similar cruise vacation. It's killing me! LOL....my wonderful husband keeps telling me I will have a wonderful time once we go and it will be well worth the sacrifice. I sure hope he's right.

I think our next vacation will involve shop hopping at different quilt shops throughout this country while sight seeing at the same time!

There you have it, folks...I'm addicted and I'm so proud of it! What about you?

I like to be able to buy when I want to buy. Which for me usually happens. We are taking a small trip this year, no cruise, but it won't interfere with my fabric buying power! LOL. I'm on the hunt this week for fabric!

Last year was the first time in my life that I went on a vacation with the girls. I checked all the local and long distance quilt shops., I honestly spent more money on fabric than the entire trip cost. This year I plan to stay home and visit MSQ only!

I get a direct deposit each month and try to save......I have been running low already this month and when the DD was a charm pack...
...Ellie Ann.....I ordered it because I knew it would be the last I could do this month! Then something else came up and now yes, I'm broke. Tee Hee

I love my sewing and quilting , but have so much stash I don't need to buy all the time just a few things here and there to go with what I got. We have another cruise in our future and I can't wait. I absolutely love cruising. Everything is done for you and you don't have to think. Our last cruise was 6 years ago and I can't wait for another!. I guess I am not that addicted.Have been sewing since I am 5 and I am now in my 50's do lots of stash...Not to mention 20 years working in a fabric store as the fabric manager and getting to order fabrics for the store what a blast!.

I seem to run in spurts. I stopped any quilting or fabric buying in July, and then picked it back up in November. I have bought a lot of fabrics and rulers since then, and am working away now. Vacations, however, are very important to me. When I was working, all I lived for was taking a vacation.

That's great, Iris Girl! I really don't have very much stash; I usually buy when I need to.

I love cruises as well. We usually will go once every 2 years. You're right, they do everything for you, which is a good thing. My husband has NO stress when he's on a cruise. I love it when he's not stressed. In fact, I go as far as to renting a limo to take us to the airport so he's on vacation as soon as he walks out the door. I know it's a splurge, but he's worth it. Now that I think about it, I guess my fabric isn't as important to me as he is.

                Sadly, I understand.

But, on the other hand - a cruise will be really nice and then you can get back to your fabric buying ways. Since your DH chose this - next time it's your choice and you already know what you want to do!

Hmm, depending on where your cruise is, maybe you can find some fabric shops when it goes to port.

I love buying quilting stuff. Fabric and all. But my vacations are mostly with my kids except for one girls trip a year. So, I will give up anything I have to for my vacations. Thats not to say my savings sometimes suffer because I cant resist a daily deal

Our dream vacation (hopefully we can go next fall) is to drive along the east coast and stop to soothe both DH and I, Civil War Battlefields for him, quilt shops for me. Last time we went of a road trip I bought one fat quarter at each shop we stopped at and made a quilt to remember or trip.
