    Rainy Days and Fridays

or is it mondays or saturdays? Getting our 80% of the wet stuff with temps hovering at 33 right now. Hoping for a steady reading and no drop in temp - other wise there will be icy roads again. I am so done with winter. And I don't even live in the snow belt. On a much brighter note

    HAPPY FRIDAY !!

    Aww that's so cute Blondie.

I'm a little ahead of you guys so Friday is all but done for me and it did not get off to a particularly auspicious start. I showered, dressed and loaded my machine and current project into the car to spend the day sewing with some lovely girl friends, only to find that the battery in my car had died overnight. I thought no way, I used it three times yesterday with no hint of a problem and then wham...dead. So I waited for the service man to come fix it and so it was lunch time before I got to sit and sew with the girls...but the young service guy was cute.

The weekend I hope will be as directed by Blondie...laid back and fun.

Have a great day everyone, I hope everyone is doing well.

        Good morning!

Love the little kitty relaxing, wish I could do the same today.

The first time in my memory, all schools are closed in NM by governor's requests and our city offices are closed today. The water meter at work froze, so we have no water at work. Our part of the country just can not handle this type of weather. Hopefully it will warm up.

The tumbler is deal of the day. Have to say ladies, I love, love, love this ruler!!!!!

Everyone stay warm and have a very blessed day.

Figured out why we say Brrrrrrrrrrr . . . when it is so blasted cold outside. Long time ago, in the land of knights and dragons, there lived a very shy young knight who woke one morning to terrible cold. And he'd had enough of the past winter weather. His attempt to shout out "Bring on Spring" was hindered by the cold and he couldn't get the first word out of his mouth. Thus, Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring on Spring. Okay, I know, I won't qualify for any writing awards this week . . . but needed a bit of levity.

Awoke to find that one of our furnaces decided to stop working overnight. Luckily we have 24/7 service and a maintenance contract in effect . . . they should be here before 10 a.m. for repairs. Meanwhile, my little footsie space heater is doing it's thing and the kitchen is being oven-warmed as I bake my overnight French toast.

Chiro this morning. Had to cancel two appointments this week due to weather. But I awoke feeling much better than I have in a very long time. Slept like a log last night, too - but I am almost always a good sleeper. Did make a bathroom run in the middle of the night and found a reason to appreciate my 'belly fat'. Partly closed the door to get to something in the linen closet (lights off, mind you) and promptly turned around and ran straight into the open door head on. Now if that extra padding in the front had not been there I'd probably be sporting a black eye this morning.

I have my lap quilt packaged and will drop it off at the USPS while I'm out this morning. Worked on my dear MILs lap quilt for quite a while yesterday afternoon. She's in the hospital in LA area with severe kidney infection (they think . . . not determined as yet if that's all . . .) and I keep encouraging Al that he needs to fly home to see his parents (they live in SO CA). Papi is 89 and Mami is 86.

Hope everyone is safe, warm, happy, and ready for a wonderful and creative weekend.

Blondie---I will gladly send you a little sunshine this morning, but it is sooooo cold that I fear it might try to sneak in, too.....thus sunny ice would come your way. Not a good thing! It is so sparkling bright here this morning, that we might have to shut some blinds. I pray you stay just warm enough today!
Dragonfly---sorry about the car battery...how frustrating! At least you found the bright side of it! I pray your weekend is more fun and less frustration!
NM lady---- I pray you can find a warm spot today. Ice and cold must really play havoc in places that are not use to it. No water is a difficulty that I pray is quickly remedied.
Sandy----as always-----so funny! I loved your little story and it makes as much sense as anything. I pray your furnace guy arrives quickly and has your furnace up and running! At least you planned ahead to have a warm tummy! Keep encouraging Al to go see his parents. I know the hard way, when they are gone it is too late! Be safe out on your errands and pray your back continues to improve! Take your sun glasses---that snow is bright!

Off to get schoolwork done, so I can play with that quilting machine. I guess it would be more appropriate to say "practice" but play sounds more fun. We can all use a little more "fun"! Will get fabric in her today and see what I can create!-----hopefully lots of swirly loops and not lots of loopy mess! Not enough hours in my days! SuzyQue

              Hi quilty peeps!
I am dragging at work today because it is my last day til vacation!! So much to get done but I am procrastinating!!!
So excited to get that Tumbler Ruler today, plus bought 3 charm packs!! It will be in my mailbox when I get back to welcome me home!
Crazy train ride home last night, a freight train in front of us hit a truck on the tracks so the train ride ended up being over 2 hours! When we got to the station the stairs I have to go down to get to my car were blocked by a 5 ft pile of hard snow, which everyone was walking over. I climbed up this mountain but it was a sheer drop off to a sidewalk on the other side, so I jumped down....scary...suprised I landed on my feet! Then at the bottom of the stairs I have to walk down a 1/2 block sidewalk which was not plowed and all the snow from the road plow made that about 4 feet deep. It was packed pretty hard so you could follow the deep footprints but it took along time to make my way to the car. I sunk all the way down to my butt with one step and thought I was going to be stuck there!! I was never so glad to get home as i was last night.
This vacation in Florida is coming just in time!
Blondie - hope your temps hover about that freezing mark and warm up this weekend!
NM - stay safe and warm at home. it must be very difficult when you are not used to this kind of cold!
Sandy - you just crack me up girl!! LOL...I could have broke my fall if I landed on my "fluff"!
Take care all...I will check in later!

"Rainy days and Mondays always get me down..............."
OK, no more singing! That is how the song goes if I remember correctly...supposed to rain a bit here today as well, but we are "warm" at 50* already!
Lots of homework and an exam to take today, need to get some house work done, too, my cats are starting to hunt the dust bunnies!

Sandy, I know all about that fluffy cushion, it has saved me many a time!! I hope your furnace it repaired soon!

Patti, that is one scary commute home!! I am glad you get to go to Florida to recover!

Dragonfly, like Debi said, always a silver lining!!

NM, there will be alot of broken water pipes in your neck of the woods, be careful! I hope it warms up soon for you!

I hope everyone has a blessed day!

                  Re: Rainy Days and Fridays

Sooo glad it's friday. And we only had 3 days of school this week. I don't mind helping the kids who TRY, it's the ones who sit there and whine and don't even open the book or read the question and then tell me they don't get it. If they haven't figured out by now that I do not just hand over the answers, they should learn that before the end of the year. If fact, some of them did learn that because they won't put their hand in the air if I'm sitting there looking for someone that needs help. They wait until I turn my back and ask someone else. I just wish some of these teachers would tell them the same thing I do.

Odie is finally in Oklahoma - landed arounded midnight my time. Today, they wouldn't let him go to medical because he has no uniforms. Seems his luggage is lost and they are still trying to find it. Still pretty sick, but said the inhaler they gave him is helping to take the edge off.

Still have to copy the bulletins for Sunday morning - looks like I'll have to do it tomorrow afternoon. A lady at church lost her daughter - 26, problems with drugs and they found her unconscious earlier in the week. They did 2 tests to see if there was any response to life and they had to disconnect all life support. So sad. Services are tonight and though I really didn't know her daughter, I will send the mother a card.

Today, a trip into the laundromat to wash the whites, a trip to the food store, and a trip in to the library where they have $.50 paper covered items and $1. for hardback. Sometimes I make out like a bandit with the quilting stuff. A wintery mix tomorrow morning will keep me sewing. Would like to work on that snowman quilt. Still trying to get the layers together.

Well, better get moving here. Library sale is over at 6. I'm usually there for preveiw night but I missed that with all the ice here on Tuesday.

                  Have a super evening everyone!

                  Hugs,

Hope everyone is having a good day... Trish I'm glad Odie got an inhaler, but how frustrating that he couldn't go to medical. Hang in there!

Patticakes, hope your vacation is wonderful! Your "commute" sounds like an adventure!

My sewing beastie seemed to respond to a new needle and such, then developed a new problem - breaking the top thread every five or or inches of sewing. So I was stuck home sick all day and couldn't even sew! What a lousy day LOL. Now that DH is home from work maybe he can get it up and running for the weekend. I'm hoping!

                      Good evening.

The water meter thawed at work today and water started gushing at the meter. No damage inside the building, but the city had to fix the meter. Felt like we were really not to have any problems in the building.

It warmed up nicely and think it's supposed to be in the 60's tomorrow. Is that crazy or what????

Oh well, we like our warm weather in NM.

God bless and take care. Stay warm.

Long day, glad it is time to rest until the early morning.

Cathy, I actually FOUND some peach schnapps. Thinking of you just this minute. mm mmm good.

NM - glad that you warmed up a bit and hope tomorrow meets their predictions. I know this has been crazy weather for you.

Pattie, by now you are finished packing I am certain. You deserve to get the heckfire shoot out of Dodge for awhile, just as our Shauna is doing.

Sweet Trish, glad that Odie made it to OK - and it sounds as if your weekend will be packed. I am planning on bringing some of my older quilt books to a used book store for cash or credit.

Lynn, speaking of cute service guys - took my Mom to the big city for her appt with the surgeon who was an hour and a half behind - which is why I am so late saying nite nite here.
Only good thing about waiting was knowing what a looker her doc is. Mom and I both giggled to each other about it. Poor Luscious. He has to deal with women all day at work and then listen to us. Speaking on my behalf, when saying our goodbyes, instead of grabbing this delicious man in my substantial arms, I merely shook his hand warmly. Sigh. He still remembers the night we first met. I soundly told his good looking face off outside the surgical wing at 1:30 in the morning. Such nice memories. After the surgery for my Mom was successful he told me that I reminded him of his favorite aunt. He said everyone called her the General because she got things done "toute suite". LOL. My Daddy always DID call me bossy and my Mom does call me Mrs. Sassy. Luscious just calls me feisty.

Ladies, I am tired, ready for bed and will see y'all sometime tomorrow. I am not promising a chipper good morning.

Big hugs and wishes for good weather, great fabric to sew with and since I've been working on a tall fuzzy navel, I will wish everyone the good fortune to have a good looking service man or doctor in their future. It does cover a multitude of grief.
                        Nites!

                        Sewing mends the soul.
