Sundays are for sleeping in a little bit . . .

Blessed Sunday Morning everyone. I slept in until 7:45! Felt great. Like this kitty, all I wanted to do was stay snuggled up under the covers! Hubs even brought me coffee in bed. I never feel guilty about sleeping in on Sundays. My lazy morning for sure.
After church we are going to Mom's for dinner. This evening I really need to sew on those quilt blocks for my friends.

Crazy dreams last night ~ I dreamt that my hubs lost his job, I lost mine and that in the end I jumped in a river with Hillary Clinton (what is UP with that?) and before Hillary jumped in the river I gave her a swim cap to keep her hair dry. What a nutty mind! I need to tell Luscious the dream although I may leave out the part of him losing his job. That would bother him too much.

Hoping that everyone has a wonderful Sunday. Check in later, gators

      Good morning everyone.
LOVE the kitty Blondie! TOO CUTE! And, what a dream - wonder how they get all jumbled like that.
Cathy - did you get the giraffe snout done and the elephant started? Would love to see photos. I can't 'make' things - I remember it took me a week to make a cape for one of the boys for a Halloween costume. Thank goodness he was about 7 and didn't look too close at it and it didn't fall apart.

Off to stitching using that fancy, smanchy stitching on the machine. Why I haven't used it before I don't know. Not sure if I'm heading to my Dad's or not - maybe if the driveway gets cleaned off from yesterday. The sun might come out for a bit which will be nice since another storm is brewing for the middle of the week. Looks like a mess with snow, freezing sleet, rain, and back to snow again.

The phone is by my side - gonna get that phone call today from Odie - feel it in my bones.

      I'll check in later.

      Hugs,

Trish, what fancy smanchy stitch is that?? Fingers crossed that Odie gets to call you today.

        Blondie, love the sleepy kitten!

Got about half the binding stitched on my dresden plate last night. Will finish it today for sure, but maybe not get it hung until next weekend.

Had a lazy day yesterday; grocery shopping and cleaning today and hanging out with Mike and Spike. Hooray for weekends :-).

Hoping everyone has a great day!!!

Re: Sundays are for sleeping in a little bit . . .

Everybody is finishing up these wonderful projects and getting ready to start more. Since the first of the month my sister has finished two quilt tops . . . and I feel like I have been putzing around. I have lots of ideas but just don't get them into the working stage because I need to do THIS first. Why, oh why, do I have Butt-First (BuT First?) disease . . .

I can brag a bit, though (human nature) because I can walk into my sewing room and start on a project without having to look for pieces, parts, tools, thread, etc. It's all right there where it should be. I guess I spend more time organizing than actually working . . . DUH. Speaking of which - I know I spend too much time at the computer and every time I see something I would like to do I print out the information. So I have reams and reams of printed paper with designs, patterns, ideas, tips . . . and I've sorted into categories - yet I still can't find what I want when I want it. So I decided I would use some 3-ring binders . . . HAVE YOU PRICED THOSE THINGS? I want a specific kind because I have experience with them (D-rings - minimum 3 inches) and like the binders that the back is split so it can stand up as on an easel. THEY ARE OVER $10 APIECE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, that's not bad, but I need a minimum of a dozen . . .

Back to square one. I have a lap quilt in the frame that needs attention soon - today is the day!

Cheers, prayers, good wishes, blessings to all.

Blondie, I love this kitty!! Even Joe liked it and he hates cats. It's funny he keeps saying he hates them but any we have had have always gone to him first. He cuddles them and talks to them. Too funny.
Your dream is funny except for the job part. I have weird dreams like that too. Must be something you and I ate. lol
I'm off to sew more blocks. Hugs, Jan

              Morning Ladies!

Thanks for asking Trish! I did get the giraffe done. He is in the floppy state as I haven't stuffed him yet. Once I bust out the polyfil the stuff grows 4-year old legs and wanders all over the house! "Look Momma! Clouds!" I did get started on the elephant too. I'll take photos and try to upload them here. Last time I tried, my 'puter timed out. If I can't get them on here, I'll link ya to the blog and you can see them that way.
I am getting ready to go make a traveling lunch so we can go let the last load of hay. This stuff is decent hay, but the baling job is crap. We had about 6 bales break open while were were trying to unload them. The strings are really loose and when you pick them up the hay just pops out like an accordion. The stack is a lot like walking on a pile of marshmallows. Certainly not what we are used to, but it is better than feeding the girls dirt! I am still thankful for it, even if we have to handle it with kid gloves!
You all have a good lazy Sunday and stitch up a storm!
              Take care! Cathy

Re: Sundays are for sleeping in a little bit . . .

My fancy, smancy stitch looks like a small feather of some sort. I'll get a photo when it's done.

I'm jumping out of my seat every time that durn phone rings.

Ooooh - I am very excited. Was on Craigs List here and this fella is selling a 53x54" quilt - soooo pretty AND a 55" long wooden quilt shelf that has a rod on it to hang quilts. For $25. It was listed for 2 days and noone had called him yet. It's on the way to my Dad's, sooooo - I'm getting it. Even it if turns out to be one made in China (doesn't look like it was), it is pretty and the wooden shelf alone is worth more than the $25.
The quilt has a house design in the center with blocks surrounding it and then on each corner, a basket with flowers. Of course I would have loved a bigger photo, but it's pretty.

Jan - I saw those rotary cutting mats on the website. I'm keeping my eye on it for the big one to go on sale. Yes, isn't that funny that the price changes everytime you check their stuff out. I do see them at quilt shows but they are so expensive.

Better run. Need to fold the last load of laundry and get moving here.

                Have a great day everyone.

Cathy - you remind me so much of my younger days. You don't know how badly I would love to be helping you buck some hay today. Hate those loose bales though.

Trish - don't you love those wonderful finds on the internet? I picked up a spinning rotary cutting board on Amazon this afternoon - with shipping, etc., only $30 for a 14x14 size, self-healing, Fiskars brand. Hope it's a good one - comes with a 'storage bag' also.

Getting hungry - time for leftover stew from Thursday.

                    Hey Ladies!
Got a minute to pop in while the dinner is cooking; almost done - Luscious Larry is calling it Mom surprise since she is cooking today and when he asked her what's for dinner, she gave him my famous reply "food". I had to laugh at that one. Mom's getting her spunk back. I wish you could all meet my Mom. She is the most nurturing person. Prayers for the next week, since it would've been my Dad's birthday next Sunday. Hubs told her to come to our house since Poppa will be watching the Superbowl with him. She is doing pretty good but still has her moments each day of just missing him. I do too but he was my Dad, not my husband. You will think me odd when I say I haven't cried for him yet. I reckon it hasn't really hit me between the eyes? I hear him and see him everywhere and sometimes it catches me off guard, you know? Like wanting to pick up the phone and call him up and ask him about something. hmmm.
The phone just rang. Need to head down the hill for the surprise dinner. I guarantee it is a roast beef, mashed taters, cream corn and rolls. With gravy of course. I was with her at the grocery store, hehehe.

Oh, BTW - it is a glorious day here! We even have a window open. Left for church with a coat on, came out to peel it off. YAY for lazy Sundays. God sure is good to give us such a pretty day and a reminder of good days to come. I always did like the upcoming movie previews at the theatre . . .

Today, I am washing fabric for scrubs and cleaning the sewing room! Haven't done any cleaning down there since Christmas, and I just can't stand it anymore!

I hope every one has a wonderful, blessed Sunday!

Blondie, when my Dad passed I didn't cry right away either. Then one day a song came on the radio and it was one he loved and I finally lost it. It took about 6 months before I really grieved for him. It will hit you. I dream about both my parents. Then when I wake up it takes me a minute to say their not here. They are just visiting me in my dreams. See your not the only one who dreams weird dreams. lol Hugs, Jan

Blondie I know how you feel, and as Jan said, it will come. It also took me six months for my mothers death to hit me, she was young only 48, so I was also young but I had to be the strong one for the rest of the family. I worked hard at keeping my father alive (he didn't want to be alive) and being there for my fairly new husband. When it hit, it hurt, it still does, but the grieving was necessary, take your time, for now your mom needs you.
