    Where's Blondie?

I look forward to checking out Blondie's posts every day. Hope everything is well for her.

I awoke to a gorgeous sunrise and recall my mother reciting "Red sky in the morning, Sailors take warning. Red sky at night, Sailors delight." Hope this beautiful red sky is not indicative of another snowstorm brewing. . . . and then I walked into the kitchen for my morning cuppa . . . DH had hung his winter coat and outside paraphernalia on the back of a kitchen chair. It was in shadow due to this gorgeous sunrise and truly caught me off guard. I thought there was a strange person sitting at our table.

Dear EM (6yo GD) called before 9 to tell me she had a tummy ache . . and then the truth comes out. She really, really, really wanted to spend the day at Nana's house so she could finish a very special project she started last week. She thought if she cried tummy ache she probably could get out of doing her schoolwork this morning. Drats - she was found out.

I've decided to hand-tie my lap quilt for my DH's favorite aunt. I'm using a fiberfil for 'batting' because that's what I had that fit, she lives in very cold NY - and she's just turned 90 YO. Besides, it will help cover up that annoying pucker that showed up only AFTER the seams were sewn.

Have a wonderful, bountiful day and may the sun keep shining (not only outside, but in your heart as well).
Sometimes, when there's a raging fire,
it's best not to try to put it out with gasoline.

Good morning! It was great to read your post Sandy and I also miss Blondie's early morning post. Hope all is well with her - Your quilt will be loved and will keep your dear one nice and warm. Don't you love the thought of a quilt enfolding a loved person in warmth! My family lives all around the country and when I send them a quilt, I envision them wrapped in the quilt - this is one of the great things about quilting. Hope everyone has a good Friday.

Hello Ladies, I'm almost done with my blocks and was thinking for my next project. My two DD's were asking if mom would make them a quilt. So I figure hey, Why not... Do any of you have any ideals for prints and quilt block styles that are not to hard since I'm still a beginning quilter. My DD's are 10 and 7 any ideals as far as prints that won't look like it were made for a baby as they grow and still use the quilt? My 10yo DD act's like a 12yo thinking everything is for babies and she is too big for that now... Lol she's funny.
      Any ideas anyone?

Sandy - She will love the quilt. It just gives it more character and she may not even notice the pucker. Quilt's are so expensive to buy these days. The quilt is very beautiful you did a wonderful job.

        Re: Where's Blondie?

Bondie is a joy in the morning! Hope all is going well with her and her mom!

Sewsoft, I am very new at this quilting thing, so I am not the one to advise possibly, but I just put out a new album on my profile that has a project in DRESDEN which I cannot wait to copy. I found it on a cover of an old magazine QUILT 2007 #82
I've accomplished several blocks in the Dresden and find them so fun to make. So, it might be a design you'd like to try. If you have the dresden ruler from MSQC, it makes it very easy to cut your blocks in the "stack n whack" method (cutting 4 at a time) and it really saves fabric.
Just a thought. Hope you find something you really enjoy creating. Debi

Good Afternoon everyone. Today is my granddaughter's 11th Birthday. And that means she is still here with us. I am so thankful for that. Her blood levels are staying just under normal so the Docs are pleased. Thank you for the prayers for this sweet child. Hugs, Jan

Jan, my thoughts are with you on your granddaughter's birthday. Can I ask what illness she has? I'm afraid I haven't been following the forum long enough to know.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Yes, Deb, Emily has Aplastic Anemia. The docs told us if she had leukemia there is a 98%
cure rate but there is none for Aplastic Anemia. If this last round of horrible drugs doesn't work she will have to have a bone marrow transplant and that would be a last ditch effort. They are weaning her off the meds now and we are hoping for remission. If not, it gets really scary. She was diagnosed 2 years ago and it has been a drastic 2 years.
The girls on this web site have been a God send for me. They have prayed for her and have helped us keep her here for a while longer. We are praying for these drugs to work.
She was isolated from the outside world but rallied enough to go back to school this year. Her blood levels are running just below normal and she has gotten rid of one drug.
We are praying hard for this to continue. Thank you for asking. And feel free to send up a prayer for her healing.
She has been a trouper thru all of this. The sleepless nights because of side effects from the meds, and all the times she couldn't have friends to see and play with. And she has a testimonial that has humbled grown men. She has totally accepted the fact that this could kill her but hasn't let that stop her from her school work, participating in church by using skype to share in services, or starting blood drives and bone marrow drives to get people to donate. The first week they knew she had this she had 15 blood transfusions.
We have lost count how many she has had, but for sure too many for a child to go through. Her plans are to get better and keep her A average in school so she can be a vet. she loves animals and wants a dog and a horse. Because of the illness she can't be around any animals. She is my hero! Hugs, Jan L.

                    Re: Where's Blondie?

                    Hello, hello, hello

Goodness, after the day I have had today, it feels good to be missed! LOL.
Got up way too late to even share a cup of coffee with myself this morning, much less anyone else!
It's just been a long, long day and I am just now sitting home. I am getting too dang old for all the excitement the Lord decides I can handle. Actually, that sure sounds ungrateful and I am most certainly in possession of a thankful heart. I just get a wee bit tired now and then. But I haven't gotten cranky yet, so that's a good thing.

Had Mom at the oncologist's after a long day behind the chair. I tell you, once a month these oldsters give me execdrin headache number 109 - all in the same day. I even had one codger tell me today that it was high time I learned a few things. good grief.

anyway, Mom has a bad gall bladder. Easy surgery for most but this will be a biggie for her and I won't bore everyone with details. Suffice to say, she will have to have the surgery in the big city and it will not be a one day stay. We are praying about all this. I know it is all in His hands and so glad of that. God has been most than good to each of us.

Other than being dog tired, I am fine. I am ready to face round two of the dirty hairs tomorrow. What sign is the moon in? I really must make a note of when they get wild.
Of course, I think this week they were really all out of sorts because of the weather. Everyone here still needs ice skates to get from their drive to the roads. The roads are okay. Just everything else is a solid sheet of ice.

Jan, it's a might late but be sure and give that sweet Miss E. a hug from her Aunt Blondie. It always delights me to read of good reports. She is a much prayed for sweetie and a miracle. You know that I keep her in my daily prayers.

Hugs to all; I am taking some pm's and sure wish I can some (rootbeer?) schnapps to take it with. I want a sound sleep tonite! LOL.

Poor Blondie, you sound so beat. I pray tomorrow is a better day for you honey. I'm sorry your mom is sick. You certainly don't need this and definitely your Mom doesn't. My prayers are with you both and for Larry so he can help keep it together for you. Love them wonderful husbands that stand by their women.
Thank you to Shelia and Blondie and Trish for all the prayers and support for Emily, and for me. I love you guys.
Thank you everyone for their prayers.
Have a good day tomorrow all of you are in my prayers. Hugs, Jan

Happy Birthday to your Emily! I am so glad that you have had here here for another year. Let us hope there will be many more!

Careful Blondie! I still have over half of a bottle of that stuff. You might just find it in your mailbox! Although I think that if you mix a can of A&W rootbeer with a gallon of gas you might just get the same effect!

I am hanging some things in the sewing room while I procrastinate on the PowerPoint presentation I am supposed to be creating. I am just so NOT inspired about it. UGH.
Have any of you ever used those 3Mcommand velcro type hangers? They seem to be working well so far. I guess I'll know tomorrow morning if the stuff is still on the wall huh?

OK, I'll get back to what I am supposed to be doing on this contraption....

I had about 3 glasses or wine for you . . . will that suffice since I didn't have any schnapps to drink?

Special prayers to you and your Mom!! I loved the 'oldie' telling you that you had a few things to learn. Don't you just love them when they state their minds? Reminds me of "When I get old and start to wear purple . . . "
