Well it's about time Friday showed up, lol!!

    funny-friday-quotes-564X504.jpg
Good morning friends. Well my car is fixed and ready to go. I am glad it's Friday. It has been one heck of a week. My DIL doesn't need us next week after all. She is having car trouble herself so is taking next week off as well. She may need us the following week. So that means that I may be working again next week but only 3 days. I will call the boss today and find out if they found anyone. I was at work way too early yesterday but I managed to get all parcels and mail sorted out before the girls came in. I felt pretty good about that. I have to shake my head at some of the stuff I have discovered. With the great shortage and # of replacements that have been there, I have to wonder how their own post offices run. Not that I am anything great, but at least I think I have been doing things correctly. In any case, the post master is coming back next week, progressively and that is why I will work only 3 days.

I was able to score a box of Rapid tests yesterday. I am really happy about that. Covid is running rampant everywhere and I want to be assured that if I become sick, I would know if its covid.

It looks like we are expecting a huge snowstorm on Monday. I hope I don't have to work but will if I have to and drive carefully.

Have a great day everyone, no matter what you do. Hubby wants to 'do' something this weekend. I am not sure what he wants to do as everything is closed but we may go for a drive if I need groceries.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

    Good morning all y’all 🌸

Oh Monique, definitely food! Love your toon. It doesn’t matter to me anymore what day it is……as they are all the same in a sense. At least that’s the way it seems since DH retired. Hope your day goes by fast and want ever you “do” over the weekend is fun!

Well more shopping yesterday. We made 6 stops but the last was the best. We got pizza! I was so tired and it’s been ages since we had one that it tasted great 🍕 even leftovers for lunch! Bonus!

My sewing room quit calling me…..it’s has started to yell…..hopefully today I can calm her down by getting in there!

Hope everyone has a blessed and peaceful weekend. Love and hugs for all and prayers for many 💕

Good morning! Yesterday was full of nothing! First I did diddly, followed by a nap, then squat, followed by computer games. I did do several loads of laundry and made some crock pot beef stew, so there’s something! Lots of leftovers with the beef stew, and it was yummy.

No sewing since Tuesday, I need to do something about that today. Last year about this time, i was totally in to making heart quilts. I am trying to resist Jenny’s cute heart/star quilt on the new tutorial list. Squaring up 160 HSTs should convince me I don’t need to be doing that one.

My daughter found a video of a quilt shop quilting a huge lone star quilt made of all fruit and veggie fabrics. My sister, the life long vegetarian, saw it and really liked it. I am willing to make it for her, but trying to decide how big to make the center star. So far, I have not made one that is bigger than 4 units wide for each star leg. Not sure how to go about making a really big one. Guess You Tube is always there for information!

Snow predicted for tonight. Our last predicted snow was a fizzle, so we’ll see how this pans out.

Take care and hav3 a good day!

Sometimes we just need to spend some quality time with our good friends diddly and squat. They tend to re-energize us for the next day.

    Good Morning

I haven't been here in a while. Today is the first day I am feeling better. Not sure what is going on with me, but I have been to the doctor twice and he is going to refer me to a breathing specialist. Definitely not covid. My oxygen is down in the lower 80's. Kaylee has covid and so does most of her class. Amanda said they were staying completely away from me until they were all clear of the virus.

Really miss sewing. I am going to make "A ribbon runs through it". Fat quarters sends you part of the kit each month. I am really excited about this quilt. One of the prettiest quilts I think I have seen.

    Miss you all!

Diddly and squat have been living at my house for a couple of weeks now. I sort of like their company.
I know that I am in a sewing mood because the dreams are coming back. I counted rows last night and know that I do not have enough HST's cut out for the size quilt I need. Today I will try to do another 100 and blend the colors in gradually to the remaining rows that need assembled. Wish me luck on that. In the mean time, mind has created color combos for my next two quilts. I'll be thinking of patterns for them.
Got a good report on caterach surgery yesterday and approved for the other eye. Next available time is sometime in March. They will call and schedule me and then I'll know for sure.
Fuji sat on my lap with a blanket and me not touching yesterday. This is a real breakthrough in the cuddle department. DH is so jealous. He wants him to cuddle with him so badly but I keep telling him, let Fuji have it be his idea and pretty soon he'll be our cuddle bunny. Oh how I love that cat!!
Big snow storm prediction starting tomorrow is 6-24 inches here in the mountains. They keep putting big signs up on the tv ..."this is not going to be like the blizzard of '93. The big worry for me is DGD who is scheduled to fly back to Texas on Monday out of Greenville SC. Atlanta is getting ice and so is SC so I don't know if the planes will fly???

Sounds like your DGD might need to get out of town today if possible. The predictions do sound bad for the south.

It would seem that way except the college is closed down and there wouldn't be a dorm room available and her friends are not on campus to pick her up from the airport. She will figure it out. these are the parts that have us become an adult

    Good Morning All,

Busy, busy day yesterday. Mike wants a new mattress, so we went shopping. It's his bed, he's going to buy what he wants. We went to Mattress Firm, Ikea, Sleep Number and he tested out bed after bed after bed. The one he fell in love with $2300 on sale. Well that won't work with his budget, which is why we kept looking. He told each sales person, he was just trying to find what he needed to set up his budget to purchase. He doesn't want to go in debt. Well, I get that, but everybody is running 0 % interest right now, which is a good deal. Anyway, he stuck to his guns, no purchase but he narrowed it down to 2 that will work in his plans. Surprisingly, the Sleep Number was one of the more reasonable mattresses since he only needs the mattress.

My Tis the Season BOM arrived yesterday, with the DD and thread I ordered the same day. Fabric for the backs of the uncles quilts came too. The front porch was full when we got home. I worked last night on the little wall hanging from the Advent box. I think today, I'll work on the pop up container. It's nice to have a small project to work on.

I need to clean up the kitchen before I start anything else.

Have a great day! Prayers for those in need for healing touches, peace and comfort, grace and mercy. Prayers of thanksgiving for all of our many blessings.

Katrina, the best mattress we have ever had (and we now have purchased 3, DD has purchased 2) is the zenia smart bed in a box. I ordered one for our mountain house because we were having guest and I had taken the guest bed to the coast so needed one. We had bought one (king size) for the coast when we moved there and loved it. The new one is just as nice. They are made in Italy. Cost around 5-600 depending on thickness. We ordered one (coast) in 13 inch and the new one is 12 inch because the 13 was out of stock.

We had an antiqueish double bed our guest room and I wanted a queen so we just hung the headboard on the wall. It looks just fine with the queen mattress/springs and metal frame which is covered by a bedskirt.

I'll tell him Terry so he can look it up. Claire, there's no way a queen would fit his bedroom. His full is butted up in the far corner of the room. The book case at the end on the wall is very close to the end of the bed. Mom's dresser sits in his closet without the mirror. The opposite wall is where his desk (my old desk that Dad made for my bedroom), his TV and cabinet for his display of collectables. Between his desk and bed is just a little bit bigger than the nightstand that came with mom's bedroom suite. Mercy, that was supposed to be my sewing room, but there was no way to put his bedroom pieces that room at all. Believe me I tried, and cried trying to make it work. I wanted that bigger room.

Mom had a queen adjustable bed that we used for her in her house. Howard had the head of the bed leaning against the wall and rigged something at the foot to hold the foot board. I wish we could have kept it, but there was no way it would fit. We kept Mom's suite, and used the spare bedroom bed on it when we moved (which was my Grandma P.'s full size).

He'll figure it out, he just wants to save up first.

    Morning all,

Just wanted to pop in and say hello, there is not much news worthy going on here. They are predicting either a wallop of snow or rain starting Sunday-Monday. Hope we are on the rain side of the system.

I purchased a cute Kimberbell CD yesterday to make their felt gift pockets. They look like they work up quickly and would make cute gifts. There are 12 different gift pockets on the CD.

I also mentioned this in another thread but I 'll also mention it here too. In M*' s today only sale the have the pre cut pkgs. of Bosal squares to make the fold n stitch wreaths for $6.50, which is an excellent price. Just a heads up for those of you who make them. I stocked up😊 as I make quite a few of them and have never seen them at that price.

Well time to get started and get the chores accomplished then I have the rest of the day to dilly-dally, nap, or whatever. Wishing everyone a good day!

      Good morning,

Monique, That's so true. DH knows I have "food issues". You have to feed me. He skips lunch-I skip breakfast and want a hearty lunch. Be safe and stay warm with the snow coming in.

Yes, it's Friday. One ringy-dingy and the sewing room is calling me too. The heart projects look so cute. It's a favorite time of year with Valentine's Day around the corner. I pulled some pink scraps out of the box and perhaps can use them up.

Our second meal of the roulades was delicious last night. I had to make the gravy and cook the rice. DH enjoyed them again and complimented me. He is always appreciative of my efforts. Dinner was ready in 15 minutes. I use the microwave for cooking rice and it comes out so nice. My dear MIL used to cook rice for holiday meals. LOL! Tonight we are ordering pork roast dinners from a local deli. The meal includes roasted potatoes and a vegetable for $8.95. We are cheap dates.

Hope you enjoy some Friday Fun!

Good morning. Here we are at Friday. But I agree Anita, since retirement, everyday could be Friday. Looks a little cloudy out there. I guess we are looking at some nasty weather heading our way on Sunday night into Monday. We may only get rain here but I think that my sons and my sis may get a bunch of snow.

Yesterday I was feeling better so hubby and I finished getting all the Christmas stuff away. I just have the dining room to work on today. The holiday dishes need to be put away and the leaf taken out of the table. Other than that, I don't know what will be on my agenda. We are babysitting tonight so it should be a lively evening.

Time to go check out today's tutorial and the daily deals. I might think about getting some of that bosal Cathy. Monique, glad your car is fixed and Terry, glad you got a good report on your cataract surgery.

Have a fun Friday everyone. Be well. Stay safe.

          Good morning all,
It's a bit warmer only -8C today. Balmy, haha. All the weather guys talk about is the big storm coming on Monday. This has happened before, and nothing, nada, rien. Hubby has to bring in his car to dealer. He had his car starter installed when he bought it (3yrs ago), and it has only worked a few times. They fix it, it works for a week, then doesn't. He's not good with follow-up or complaining about poor service -- so I nagged him enough that he went to the dealer. I told him, don't leave until you get an appt to get it fixed, or they will have to deal with me. I guess that worked. Monique - I'm glad your car is fixed. I'm surprised that they are not providing you with rapid tests at work. You might want to check on that.

Yesterday we brought Sox to vet for bloodwork for his diabetes. His vet called this morning, to say he has improved but needs to do better, so we are increasing his insulin up one notch. He will be re-tested in 3 weeks to see if there's improvement. I pressed and loaded another VQC top to quilt, which I did while I sat at my white FW and added one more piece to 80 blocks. Slow but sure. It's nice that it so small and portable, so I was parked in front of the big screen, watching HGTV Hawaii Life. Nice to escape, even if on screen. Hubby's youngest is in limbo in LA for the next 2 weeks. They had started filming, and then put a pause on for 2 weeks. I suspect there were positive cases. They will pay his expenses, and let the crew know if it's a go to film, or send them back home. I just hope that he doesn't pick up the virus in the meantime as he wouldn't be allowed back into Canada.

Hubby is at his appt for annual hearing aid check-up. Well they will see that he never wears it. His excuse, I don't go anywhere, and if I do, he risks losing it because of wearing mask and eyeglasses. That's true. But I am here, and I have to repeat and talk louder. Can't teach this old dog new tricks. I will continue sewing and maybe quilt another top. My GF is coming over for her birthday dinner, and has requested tourtiere. I will pick up assortment of small pastries at local bakery.

Enjoy your day -- goof off if that's what you want to do, and run at full speed. Your day = your choice. Stay warm and be safe.
Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Oh Suzanne you have my sympathies. After years of needing a hearing aid my husband finally got one and has been good about wearing it but he still asks me to repeat things. It does get tiring. When covid first hit he did lose a hearing aid while taking off a mask. Luckily he had only been to one place, and someone saw it and turned it in to lost and found. Since then, he has been very careful removing masks rather than just ripping them off.

Nope Suzanne, Canada Post is NOT giving us rapid test kits. They give us medical masks, not the n95 kind, hand sanitizer, gloves and wipes. That's it.

Hubby had refused to get tested, saying I had hearing problem. Well I might, because he doesn't speak loudly as it hurts his lungs (polio). BUT he wanted to get his gliding pilot license and a requirement was to get hearing tested. So he did and has to wear aids while taking lessons. He hasn't had lessons since pandemic started, so he only wears on occasion.

The mystery quilt layout was posed today on B Hunters blog, it is going to be pretty when finished but oh my word there are lots of pieces. I am taking it fairly slowly since I haven't even gotten all my fabric.😆
I think today DH and I will go on adventure, a tornado damaged an antique store about an hour and half away, they are trying to sell off some merchandise to make space and probably money for the repairs. There is also a fabric store in the town, sounds like a good road trip to me. We do ave to wait until after the housekeeper is done so I can sneak in a little stitching before we leave.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I follow Bonnie's blog. I've never made any of her mystery quilts. They always involve such small blocks. I really don't have time to do a mystery quilt, or BOM, etc. I've had so little sewing time lately. I need to make a dent in my UFOs.

I haven't made any of Bonnie's mysteries either, mostly because I know there are a lot of pieces. Many of our guild members have done them, and a few who were on the online Sew Day showed us their progress. Some have changed the colors she suggested. Pretty but lots of pieces.

Good morning everyone. Not sure what I will do today. I am waiting on new supply of iron on fleece, I used the last of my supply in the little suitcase project. I have some old jeans that are sweet talking to me. After I clean up yesterday mess in the sewing room, I just might start talking to them.

But first coffee... more coffee!!! Hope all have a safe and happy day!

Good Morning, Everyone (at least for a few more min.) ~ Cloudy & cooler today. It won't get out of the 40's. We had sunny & 60* yest. I was able to hang all the pillows out on the line for a good airing. Got DH's bed sheets changed & some vacuuming done. Did 1 load of laundry. I took my time & rested in between as needed. It hurts to tuck the covers under the mattress because of the arthritis in my hands. Anyway, got everything done I had planned on doing. In the eve. I made it to the sewing room for an hour. I've had 12 large blocks laid out on the floor for some time just waiting to be sewn together. It's the Tula Pink quilt. I alternated 4-patches with rail fence blocks. The blocks are 6.5" which I already had sewn into 12.5" blocks. The background fabric is teal. I'm still undecided about adding a border. If I do, I'll have to piece the backing, unless my border is only 1.5".

Today I've done 2 loads of laundry, made DH's salads for the next 2 days, done his med. proc., etc. Here it is noon already.

I get Karen Brown's newsletters & links to the videos. I'm not participating in the de-clutter challenge. Too much going on my life right now. But the videos will be there for me to watch later. I do enjoy her videos.

I haven't yet watched Jenny's tutorial for today.

I have been watching the videos, and some of the days I have no issues with. I did get into my bookcase yesterday as I needed to add about a dozen Block magazines on the shelf for that. Well -- a lot of paper patterns and stuff I didn't need went to recycling. Patterns I had that were free and I know I will never make are in a pile to pass on to my GF, to keep or toss.
I also went through my shelves in the library and cleared 2 -- mostly photo albums that are my son's pictures since he was small. I kept them as I know he didn't have space -- it's now time to let them go.

            Good afternoon everyone.

It is a very snowy day today. We have been in the 30’s and 40’a most of the week and almost all the snow was gone. Not so anymore. Temp right now is 20 and has been gradually going down all day. We have at least 4 maybe 5 inches of snow. Predicted total for the storm is 5 to 12 inches. It’s looking a little better now but an hour ago it was snowing pretty hard. So thankful I didn’t have to go anywhere today.

No sewing being done around here and probably not for the next month unless Dave changed his mind about doing the flooring in the sewing room. The kitchen is done and now the fridge and the stove have been put back and are operable. He is working on the dining room now and I figure that he will be done with the flooring by Monday but then has to do the trim. Right now it doesn’t look like we will have enough flooring to do the whole sewing room. I’ll have to see how much we have to figure if I want to do just part of the floor.

I started some crochet just because I hate sitting at night not doing anything. It will take me a while to finish. Since it fits into one of my bags so I took it with me while I sat with Carson while Jennifer went to her doctors appointment. Her doctor was very pleased with how it is healing. She has another appointment in a month. The crochet project will keep me busy for a while. I don’t want to start anything in the sewing room since there is a good chance I will need to start moving stuff out of the room in the next week so we can rip up the carpet and put in the LVP.

Praying for those in need. Wishes for the best of days to all.

Good afternoon. I planned to get all sorts or piecing completed this week, but that didn't materialize. Work has been crazy and we had 5 lambs born in the last 24 hours so I have no spare moments. Monday is supposed to be a company holiday, but several of our clients don't take that day so I will probably have some work to do. I did tell my colleagues that I would be around if they needed me, but I'd probably be in my sewing room. Fingers crossed that is correct.
