    Saturday Morning Greetings! :)

Good Morning, Everyone ~ I see Katrina also is on. I won't be surprised if we both post at the same time.

Beastly hot yest. It got up to 102! It's supposed to be 95 today. I plan to make a run out to Walmart. I have 3 Rx's ready for pick up. I need a few other items while I'm there. I'll go right after breakfast to beat the Sat. busyness & the heat of the day.

As I mentioned yest. DH's root canal went well. He was so nervous about it; he's never had one done before. He doesn't want Novacaine used; it takes too long to wear off. Instead he requests Carbocaine. He was able to eat lunch ok. He took an Acetaminophen before going to bed. This a.m. he said it feels just a bit sore. Neither of us has ever used the "happy gas".

I hope everyone has a good week end.

    Hello and good morning,

It will be a busy day here today cleaning and getting ready for grandson's BD party. He is the only child attending but we will make his day special with a pool party, pizza, pinata, presents, and cup-cakes. I need to help DD today with moving a bed to her home. We have two trucks so always help with moving things.

Yesterday was one of those days I don't want to repeat. DH and I spent 3 hours waiting at the urgent-care for a follow-up from a prior visit. I kept speaking up about it to the office staff, manager, and the doctor as we had a second appointment to go to across town. No one there got the "urgency" message. We did manage to make the second appointment with about 4 minutes to spare. Glad that is over and done!

I finished the stippling on the table runner but not sure what to do with the borders. I tried to use the embroidery machine with the border features but didn't like the design I picked. Time to go play with it today.

Joy, Glad your husband is doing well with the dentist visit.

    Happy Saturday!

You are more patient than I would be. I would have left and told them to reschedule when the doctor had time to see me.

KarenC, I would have added a line to yours, I'll be sending you a bill for my time.

Howard's boss did that to a doctor that had kept him waiting for hours when he had a business to run and inspectors to meet at a job site. He sent him a whopping bill on his company letter head. The doctor saw him on time from then on.

Good Morning to all. I ventured out yesterday to bank and grocery store. Then I did prep work for meals next week. Still having a little trouble getting the sewing mojo back. Even though I bought all new mask supplies I am struggling at even getting started. Guess I was more burned out making them from the past mass production than I realized. So I am just sewing 3" block scrap pieces together for now. No set project in mind, see where it takes me. I am bringing over my dads overstuffed rocking recliner to my house, it is years and years old but the most comfy thing to sit and rock in. I have even rocked myself to sleep a few times :-) Definitely need a throw of some kind to toss over it, so who knows maybe I will end up with a patchwork throw.

My BIL is still scheduled for surgery next week, but so many wrenches are being thrown in the mix of things. He is in the process of having a shoulder replacement, had 1st surgery to clean up and prep (the fix job done years ago was a horrible attempt). and then recently he fell and now has spiral break on the arm with bad shoulder. They need to address that too in the surgery. The nursing facility he is currently in, is in them midst of a covid breakout. If not an emergency, getting medical transport to enter the facility is an issue too. Last I heard there were 19 active cases, 11 recovered and 5 passed away. The nursing facility is more local BUT the hospital doing the surgery is not. He is being tested regularly and all tests continue to be negative!

Hope all have a great weekend.

Mimi, I think that time spent in that rocking recliner is very therapeutic for you right now. And sewing together those 3" blocks doesn't require a lot of concentration. Also therapeutic.

    Good morning!
Yesterday was a fun day-- we went to a casino, then came home and let the dogs out and fed them, then went out for dinner. We just went to the local bar but they actually have good food. I also got a quillow quilted. I still have to put the binding on and do the pillow part.
I'm waiting to hear back from my daughter about when I can take granddaughter's birthday presents to her. Her birthday is Monday- she'll be 5. The three kids still have one week of quarantine to go through. One of the teachers at their daycare tested positive. So far the kids are all ok. At least Mom and Dad don't have to quarantine, but they can easily work from home.
I guess I'll work on the quillow today and try to finish that one up, maybe start on the third one. All the pieces for the front and back are done for that one, I just need to quilt and bind.
    Have a happy day!

      Good Morning All,

Yes Joy, I was on and saw that you were on, so I went over and did my Daily Suduko on POGO. I figured you were about to post, so I'd wait.

Yesterday was another stormy one. Apparently, it rained again during the night as the porch was puddly this morning. I certainly didn't hear it. I hung the pictures back up in my bedroom. It's obvious, Jim isn't going to finish the quilt ladders. I'll have Mike pull them apart and put them out with the bulk trash when it comes next. I'll also be putting out the old car seats, the kids have about grown out of them anyway they won't take them at the Salvation Army, so bulk trash it is. Such a waste, since Mike informed me that car seats have expiration dates. Who knew!

I was planning to clean up my sewing room yesterday. I made it as far as turning on the light/fan. Unmotivated, that was me! It has to get done today, as I would like to work on Mike's portfolio cover while he's off on Monday. I really would like to move the sewing room around. The sun in the window is really bugging my eyes in the mornings. I just can't figure out a way to move the furniture that it won't feel like the room is too small! Well, it is too small! It was supposed to be Mike's bedroom, but his bed and desk wouldn't fit. So it ended up being my sewing room. Part of me would like to get rid of my desk and buy a smaller sewing table, but the door and framing would have to come down to get it out, lol, unless we took a saw to it!

It's beautiful outside this morning. More storms are expected this afternoon. I guess we'll see what happens then. Have a wonderful day!

      Good Morning,

Yesterday started our warmer and more humid weather. House is closed up again, yuk. Today is supposed to be hotter and more humid. I did run Jim up to Walmart to get his phone and dropped him back off at the rehab facility. He is back in quarantine because of that little jaunt. He doesn't mind though because he is basically a recluse. He was that way when he stayed with us.

I ended up making a bunch of phone calls yesterday afternoon that took up all afternoon. I had an order from M* that had a backorder but the fabric itself said gone forever so I contact them to see if I would get it yet or what. Not getting the fabric (it was a bundle of 5 yards) but was told to pick out fabric and they would send that instead. Worked out okay. Then I had to call on my 401K and that took forever it seems. Also had to call about my grandson's life insurance policy that we purchased when he was 7 (he is now 22). There is an opportunity to increase the death benefit by $25K. After talking with my grandson we have decided to cash it in. Christopher does not feel he can afford the extra premium and Dave and I want him to take over the payments now.

Worked in the sewing room for a bit last night working out a block that is not coming together correctly. I think I have finally got it figured out and will try again today. I only have about 6 blocks left for the sampler.. I was going to start on some wall hangings but decided to hang in there and get the blocks done first.

I have some tomatoes that need to be taken care of this morning otherwise I have nothing planned for today. I may make a trip to the two quilt stores in my "section" for Quilt MN so I can finish the section. When you finish a section you get a "gift". Their gift is 10 FQ.

Time for some coffee and breakfast. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning all. It's a bit of an overcast and humid morning. I think we will head over to see Henry play ball for a bit later this morning. Other than that, I don't have anything else on my list. There are projects around the house, out in the gardens and, of course, in the sewing room that need my attention but I don't know just what one will win out.

We were awakened last night around 3:20 by silence. The power had gone out. It is amazing how a sudden change to silence would awaken us. Not sure just why it went out but it only remained off for about 15 minutes. My sons got their power back last night around 8 as well as Kathryn and Joe. My sis got hers back the night before so everyone has lights again!

Tim seems to be doing ok after the surgery. He actually posted in our family chat last night. His throat still hurts a lot so we aren't going to call and talk to him just yet. But we have been sending him messages in our chat. Including little Zeke. He did a "you will be better soon Uncle Tim" video. Tim got a kick out of that.

Ok, time to decide what to wear today. I've been just sort of lazing around this morning. I did go out to the garden after breakfast and pick some tomatoes that were ripe. What I wear if we aren't going anywhere except front or back yards is definitely different than what I will wear to go out into public.

        Have a good day everyone.

Lol this man of mine complains when I do that. I do have days where I'll be sweats and a tee. Most days I dress up at home. He says why would you look better for strangers and then for me? I pick my battles lol so most days I'm dressed up with make up. Too hot to have my hair down though. Good thing I like dressing in skirts! I hope you have a great day out!!

Good Morning. I got up with plans to get start organizing the sewing room closet. So far I made the bed, did a load of laundry and now I’m sitting here with a cup of tea. It’s still plenty early to get a good start on it.

Joy, it’s good to hear your DH did well with his root canal. Any way you look at it they aren’t pleasant.

We’re getting some light rain...the good kind. When they predict rain we don’t get it and when they say we won’t get any we do. Crazy!

Im trying to decide what to make for dinner. I would like to fix tacos but we are out of lettuce and tomatoes. I hate pandemic cooking. I may just cook a pot of beans and ham and call it done.

Have a great day everyone. I’m off to eat a bite and tackle the closet. Hugs....

I’m having issues with meals as well. Dave gets tired of eating certain things so I try and do something else. He is getting tired of sandwiches so what to do. Hot dishes aren’t a choice because he says those are cold weather dishes. I was thinking BLT’s but that is a sandwich. Maybe I’ll go with omelets instead.

Check out delish.com they have some great ideas! We've been eating zucchini boats ...what I put in them depends on what I have. Last night it chicken, tomato, spaghetti sauce, the cooked zucchini that I hallowed out from the halves and top with cheese and bake. We do stuffed peppers too. I've even played out chicken thighs cut slits in them and stuffed them with veggies. Bake. Also egg cups are different and we've done those for variety. Check it out you might find some recipes that suit you. I make modified stuff for the man as he's a picky eater.

Mines is an extremely picky eater. He is a meat and potatoes man. He only eats peas, french style green beans and corn for vegetables (carrots only if they were made in a roast and then he doesn't have very much). He also absolutely will not eat frozen veggies (except corn). They are too crunchy. We come from an era where his mother cooked the canned vegetables until they were mush. Gets frustrating sometimes because recipes call for chopped onion, mushrooms and/or peppers. I have to leave them out or he will not eat it. I use dried mince onion sparingly if the dish is being cooked long enough to soften. Part of the issue with onions and mushrooms is the texture. I think that goes back to his mom overcooking everything. We've been married 46 years, so I can get around it a little. Sometimes I just make two dishes so mine has all the extras but that is a lot of work.

Today will be a little yard work, not much as my short fence order has not arrived, on Monday it said it would arrive on Wednesday, which Wednesday is the question. I have some iris to plant and that will be it.
I figured out how to put a sanding barrel on the dremel and played wit it a bit in prep for working on the dogs toenails, I told her this was going to happen today and there will be treats involved, she was not impressed.I need to wait for DH to be available to hold her and he is weed eating for now.
I dremeled a hump off the juki ruler foot so it will work with a ruler all the way around. Crazy that they designed it to only work on 3 sides. I hope to get practicing with that today when it gets too hot to be outside.
I have no idea what is for dinner, hot dogs last night so I need to step it up a bit today. 😋 I think pork chops on the grill perhaps
I am getting more excited about Glacier National Park, we got a map in the mail yesterday that shows all the mountain names as well as turn outs, where there are bathrooms😆, where the hikes start, food, waterfalls and everything, it is very cool.

        Good morning!

Today will be another beautiful day -- high in the low 80's and sunny. I am enjoying having the windows open. Tomorrow will be hot -- around 90 -- and I will have to turn the air back on.

I woke up with a bit of a headache this morning. That doesn't usually bode well, but it hasn't gotten any worse and the Tylenol is kicking in, so I may get to spend some time in the sewing room today. I want to get started on my Halloween quilt.

There's another glitch in my thread order with the third party seller on Amazon. I received a partial refund yesterday, some of the thread I ordered is now out of stock. Of course it is the thread I really needed. I ended up ordering it directly from Superior Threads. I should have done that originally, but they only had it in a cone, and I just wanted a spool. Oh, well. It is a neutral color, I can always use it for piecing.

Time for another cup of tea. Have a wonderful day!

Good morning!! I slept in today as it was a rough work week. Very stressful! Glad to be able to sleep in. Not sure what we'll do today. The AC went out in the truck so we don't venture out till the evening if we do. I think I'll cut fabric for the dresden quilt I want to do. I have so many UFO's because I do this...I get so excited when I get an idea I put everything else aside. Oh well.

I need to shower and start moving around. Have a great day...Rachel

Spent most of yesterday playing with the new toy, learning how to keep seams straight and maintain a 1/4 inch. Really didn't have too much trouble maintaining the 1/4 inch since I took it slow and steady. This morning we made a run to Joann's because I thought it might make more sense when I start to try to piece the Comfort Civil War quilt to make a prototype with cheap fabric so if I mess it up it isn't the Kansas Troubles stuff. It will also serve double duty, allowing Cheryl something to practice on as she tries to do more free motion quilting. We need to spend part of the day pulling everything out of Cheryl's closet because I think it can be better organized, which would allow us to get some things off the floor and make more room. The sewing room is only 9x15 (and is also home to our chest deep freezer) so room is at a premium. Now, with two people in there more often it's already feeling somewhat crowded.

Also bought an Ott magnifying lamp, so maybe now I will be able to see to thread the needle. We have a fairly decent track lighting system, but my eyesight has grown worse with each passing year, so I needed some dedicated task lighting. I wanted to pick up an Olfa 45 mm ergonomic rotary cutter. They have them so that an employee has to unlock them to get them off the shelf, and then the clerk had to carry it up to the check-out. Well my eyesight isn't the only thing going. I completely forgot to tell the cashier that we had the cutter. It's not like we don't have any others, but I like the ergonomic handle on the Olfa. I told Cheryl it seems silly that I can carry a light worth $122 with me, but I'm not allowed to carry a $30 cutter (it was on sale). Strange.

            Rob
There's nothing more directly linked to who we are than the fabric that we make.

I'm sure the reason for them walking the cutter to the counter for you is because otherwise many cutters would leave the store in someone's bag/purse without paying for it. Sad, but that's the world we live in.

I have that cutter and it's my favorite. I have others as well. My kids are all grown now but when they were going thru school I had one just for their projects. Hard lesson when I walked in my sewing room and my son had used my rotary cutter to cut cardboard and paper. We was like but I needed it perfectly straight....kids lol
