There are moments which mark your life, moments when you realize nothing will ever be the same. And time is divided into two parts, Before this and After this

    Hi Katie,

My mom is doing ok. Its been a long road since her Covid diagnosis in May. She was asymptomatic of the usual fever, cough and pneumonia. She did experience increased dizziness, nauseous and periods of delusion. She is mostly better but I would say that she experiences delirium on a more frequent basis. This is one of the recognized symptoms that has been identified to remain afterwards in persons over 70 of age.

The residence was cleared on July 1st for visits from family. These are limited to 1 member per family per week, with health questionnaire, temperature check and required Covid test valid for 2 weeks only. We must remain at 6' distance outside, with staff present. No giving her any food or items. I had my first visit on July 8th, and she remembered it was my husband's birthday. It was a good visit, but it was almost 100 outside, and I was just melting. She was fine -- she's always cold. She also gets taken outside by staff to visits around the property. It backs onto a river and there are many sailboats and cruise boats. Quite pleasant. Family is not allowed there at this time.

I went for another Covid test today, and I have 3 visits scheduled, 1 this week, and 1 each week until the end of July. I need to check calendar and keep booking. I am hoping that some of the rules will be relaxed as our province is moving into Stage 3 on Friday. Seniors' residences is probably one of the last to relax rules.

Thank you for asking. How are you doing?

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

I had been wondering about her also. Its good to hear that they are taking all the precautions with visitors . Bless her heart to be sick with this awful stuff, not see her family when she wants how awful. I am glad she is ok and hope she continues to heal.
