    Saturday Greetings! :)

Good Morning, Everyone ~ Yest. I browsed the stores for a new microwave. I went to Lowe's, Walmart, Target, and Home Depot. I wrote down info. on various models so I could search reviews on line after I got home. Last stop was the groc. store. I've decided on a GE at Lowe's. I plan to run over there is a.m. to pick it up. They have only 1 in the store; if it's been sold, I'll have to order it. It's harder to find an all white MW these days. So many are SS or black or a combination of the two.

Today is the Interfaith Quilters Show - an annual event, always the first week end of March. They sell their quilts to raise money for 2 local charities. Quilts are reasonably priced to sell. I usually take pics for ideas.

We had a spring like day yest. Temp. got up to 74 in the afternoon. I opened the front screen door for a while for some fresh air. It's supposed to be nice for the next several days.

    Have a wonderful week end.

    Good morning!

The sun is peeking out a bit here. We're supposed to have a good weather weekend -- highs in the 40's today, near 60 tomorrow, and sunny.

I am going up to the local JoAnn's when it opens at 9. I need a couple of spools of embroidery thread for a project. I will be glad when it is done! One of my least favorite things about machine embroidery is the cost of the thread. The other is figuring out which stabilizer to use.

The residents at Mom's facility have a flower box outside their hallway window. Several of the residents have artificial flowers in theirs. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a garland with daisies on it (Mom's favorite flower), and arranged it in the flower box. I thought it looked cute! A little too cute, perhaps -- when I was there on Wednesday, I noticed it was kind of flat. Someone had ripped the daisies off! It lasted maybe a week and a half. ☹
    IMG_1559.jpg

Lots to do today -- after JoAnn's, I have a couple of errands to run. When I get home, I want to try stitching out that embroidery design. It is a large one, and will take a while. It's for Mom's door -- here's hoping it lasts longer than 10 days. I also want to finish my taxes and Mom's. I will go see her tomorrow afternoon.

    Have a great weekend!

      Good morning to all!

Happy that it's finally Saturday. The choices for the day are either stitching on the embroidery machine or painting window trim outside. We are having shutters installed in a few weeks and I want to change the trim to white. We've been in this house for 36 years without shutters. They will make hurricane prep so much quicker and easier as we age in place.

I scored on some downton abbey fabric to make a May birthday gift for a fan. That will be fun. Now I just need to find the right pattern or project.

Joy, Good luck on your new microwave. It's hard to do all the homework even with internet help. Nothing like seeing the item in the store.

      Happy Stitching!

Joy,GE is a very good choice. We replaced our GE with a Samsung and boy are we worry. GE's work well and seem to last forever.

Our appliance repairman said to avoid Samsung & LG. He recommended GE, Whirlpool, or Frigidaire. Our last MW was a Frigidaire with which I wasn't altogether happy, but it lasted 2 yrs. & 3 mos. The door opener always was stiff & pushed in hard. I also couldn't use the timer while the MW was running. And it had only 3 express cooks, not 5 or 6. Hoping for better longevity with this one. It's a 1.6 cu. ft. & 1150 watt. I've been to Lowe's & picked it up already. I also purchased a surge protector strip to use with it.

        Good Morning,

Yesterday we had rain in the early morning and then snow for the rest of the day. My car doors were frozen shut. At least it wasn't one of those big March storms we've had in the past that dump 4 feet of snow. Today is sunny and windy, but it may reach 40 degrees and hopefully melt that stuff. Tomorrow will be even better.

I went to the store very early today to get a few perishables and odds and ends to put in our pantry. The virus has arrived in PA, and I confess that we are nervous since we're both older with chronic health issues. I am immunocompromised also. We will not be going out a whole lot any more for a while. While I was at the store there was a guy restocking the produce section. He was just coughing his silly head off, not covering his mouth or turning away. I just wanted to slap him. Whether it is Coronavirus, flu or just a common cold, why was he A) at work, B) near food and C) exposed to a population of largely elderly people?????

Today is going to be a quiet day of reading and doing odd things that need to be done in the house. My hands are very sore from the sewing lately, I'm going to give them a break. I think it'll be a good day to back up my computers and do some file housekeeping. But right now it's time for a second cup of coffee.

I hope you all have a great day!!

          Barbara,

There may be a warranty/re-call to fix those door latches. We have received notice for vehicles.

        Sunny Saturday morning - yeah!

Its been a crazy week of driving to appts, 1-2 per day. DH's priority is to get battery on car charged. Going to be hard as he parked right up to front wall in garage. Calling roadside service hoping they can help. I guess he should have let me drive his car this winter, or at least start it 1/wk. So many options of things to-do, I will need another coffee before I make decisions.

There's a landscape/garden show at the end of month, so I am researching fence companies. We want PVC, but I really would like the ECo-stone PVC fence. Since we would only do the street side of fence, I want something that would look nice. There's landscaping that DH has been working on for years - I want it finished this year, probably by someone else. He starts, then has back or stamina issues. This is year to Get'er Done.

I've been working on QAYG Hexies. I can handsew about 10 after dinner. I will force myself to work on glider cushions, get'er done before spring arrives.

JulieC - nice arrangements. I guess residents are like kids and pick the flowers.
Joy - good luck on the MW. DH & I both had Panasonic Inverter, his Black, mine SS. I had white one that I left when I sold my condo. Been working for 10+ years. Not certain that any new appliances are built to last very long.

Have be a good day and weekend.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

Suzanne, your DH's vehicle is a Subaru, correct? I purchased a Subaru Forester (new) in September 2017. The battery has been replaced twice already as it failed the testing when I bring the vehicle in for its check-up every 6 months. Thankfully, it's all been covered under warranty, so it hasn't cost me anything. I have my calendar marked to get it checked out again before the warranty expires. Check to see if the battery issue (and the roadside service) are covered under warranty.

MSN - all was covered by roadside. He purchased additional warranty. His is the Ascent 2019. Battery probably died as it was in the garage for 2+ months while he recovered from cataract surgery. Although he started a few times, he was told it should hve been driving at least once for 20-030 mins.

Yesterday I spent the day with my daughter and we had so much fun. We went to breakfast and then to Robins in Trussville to get needles for my Bernina. Come to find out we didn't have to go all the way out there they have just opened a location much closer. We then went to Homewood and each made a pottery bowl and had lunch and did a little shopping. We went back to her house and got the grandkids and Tim and went to PF Changs for supper and then back to her house for presents and birthday cake. ( we all love to eat!) Best Birthday ever. I was exhausted by the end of the night. She didn't need to do all that I would have been happy just spending time with her.

I am working on quilting all the tops I have made the last couple of years. It was time to stop piecing and actually finished something. I do love to sit and piece quilts tops more than any other part of the process. I am not going to allow myself to do any more piecing other than the weekly blockheads quilt until I completely finish something.

Kaylee is here with me this weekend ( I'm a happy grand mommy ) .

        Have a great day

Oh Julie, the flowers arrangement in the box was so pretty and cheerful.. Such a shame someone did that.

That sounds like a really fun day. I went to the pottery shop in Homewood with my grands for a party, the bowls they made turned out really pretty.

Hubs and I went out for dinner last eve and on the way home it started to sprinkle. We woke up this morning to a dusting of snow and it's cold enough that it isn't melting. Come March, I'm worn out from the cold and just wish we could have some days in the 60's.
Today I'll put together the block for the guild meeting Monday night. They always choose one from Quilter's Cache that's quick and easy. Then it's back to Gypsy Wife. I'll be glad to wrap this one up. We have 4 more sections. Thankfully we have a great instructor and the other ladies in the class are a hoot so it's worth it for the social aspect alone.
        Have a peaceful day.

There was a 5.5 earthquake in Northern Mexico that we definitely felt last night here by Yuma. The trailer swayed for several minutes about 9 last night. Since we weren't in any danger it was pretty awesome. I haven't heard if there was any injuries yet. Hopefully it was in a remote area.

            Good afternoon all,

It's been a busy morning. I worked on my SS gift yesterday. I've gotten step 2 done today. Maybe tomorrow or later tonight I'll work on the next step. Enough with the hints.

I was looking at FB, baby Wesley's dad had a story where he was talking to his dog. The poor dog doesn't understand why they're gone so much with the baby still in the hospital. Anyway, Gabby was sound asleep on her pillow and once Joe started talking she started barking hunting for a man. She couldn't figure it out, but she searched for that 'guy' for a while.

Still no word on when Joe will be here. So, I'll keep working on small projects while I'm waiting.

Take it easy today! Be creative!

Good morning all. Today we are going to a tasting at the venue where my DD is getting married in August. So much fuss and preparation for this wedding. I remember it being much simpler in my time. But my girl is a bit of a perfectionist (like I used to be) and everything needs to be just so.

The venue wants to charge $6 each rental for velvet napkins. I found two places online that sell velvet napkins for $1 each. I told her I would go up early and place the napkins myself lol. Hopefully she will go with the standard white linen ones. Well I better get to getting! Have a wonderful Saturday everyone.

I've been out for a while. Life got in the way. I think I told you my best friend's son committed suicide, and she has stage 4 breast cancer. That's what I have been doing, spending time with her and going to my various doctors. Nothing much wrong. I just needed a couple of cortisone shots. They helped, but pain in my hip is returning when I walk too much. It's bursitis, not a problem with the hip replacement.

Then, just as I was getting through the grief cycle with my friend, my DD called with awful news. Her husband was having a lot of problems with pain. They went to the VA and spent a day doing tests which were inconclusive. Monday, they went to an oncologist. His prostate cancer has spread to his bones and a couple of other places. They did a bone scan yesterday, and will get the results next week, and will suggest treatment. He is about my age, 17 years older than Terry. There are lots of other things that I won't go into now. Just help me with your prayers. I don't even know what to pray for. But mostly that he will make good decisions, and that DD will be comfortable with those decisions.

I'm so sorry that you SIL is going through pain, but I'm certain your DD is there for him.

It does seem that life hits us all at once. Prayers to you and your family & friend.

Thank you, ladies for your prayers. We found out Monday that the cancer has metastasized in his bones, and his vertebrae are collapsing slowly. He also has tumors in his lungs and 1 on his brain. They are giving him 6 months to a year. He doesn't want treatment, but Terry is taking him to a pain specialist. He is now on 2 Fentanyl patches. I will talk to him this weekend. There are treatments which will shrink the tumors a little, and may ease some of the pain. My Mom had some radiation which really helped her pain, but didn't prolong her life.

The palliative care folks can really do a lot to ease pain and improve his quality of life. Please take care of yourself, Navy Wife, so that you can provide emotional support to your daughter. Hugs to you.
