    My Oh My! It's Monday!

I just finished decorating 400 bajillion Christmas cookies. Now I remember why I don't do the cut out kind very often. Of course I had to give it another go after visiting several baking blogs. The most inspiring is The Sweet Adventures of SugarBelle. This woman can do some amazing things with frosting. She has Flickr page too if you can't find her blog. Glorious Teats has a fabulous sugar cookie recipe. Although I won't double it again, as the motor in my poor hand mixer would probably catch fire. The double batch took 9 cups of flour alone! I usually pay closer attention to the volume when I increase a recipe.
I am going to hit the sack for a couple of hours and then get up and attack the last bit of the apron I have on the sewing table.
One bit of good news. We took the plunge and ordered a bed set off of the internet, Overstock.com to be exact. We are a bit nervous since there is a "no return" policy on the mattress & box springs. We went and flopped around on a few at the local mattress store to get a better idea of what we were looking for in the descriptions on line. So hopefully within the next two weeks my husband and I will be able to sleep in the same bed again. We saved about half of what we would have paid in the mattress stores. The shipping was free too. I'll let you know how it goes.

I hope you all are safe and well. I know you are busy, but I just wanted to check in with the quilting ladies in case I don't get back here later today.

Good morning everyone! Had a busy day yesterday.

Make 4 loaves of strawberry nut bread and 1 batch of peanut butter balls.

Almost finished hand embroidery on a cup towel, just lack part of the border and will wash and starch then get wrapped up.

Everyone have a very blessed day!

Busy day here in retail! We opened early but I was here at 6 am to get ready for the week. Good thing is that it means I get to leave early at 2 pm! I am heading home to make Crockpot Peanut Clusters. First time making these for me but got the recipe from a friend in my hometown who says they are wonderful. They sure look easy and it makes a whole bunch. I'll post if it turns out good!
Hope all goes well in your day today! Back to work!
        Merry Christmas!

          Patrice,
Is it the royal icing recipe? I just used the recipe off of the can of Wilton meringue powder. Which, if you have signed up for JoAnn's coupons, you can get for half off this week. The powder lasts f o r e v e r (years) in the refrigerator. The royal icing dries nice and hard which ships better than the buttercream that sticks together. If you are going to try the "fill in" method, I found a really small paint brush helped push the frosting into the corners. I also added a bit of flavoring to the icing, I used a dab of vanilla and some (1 tsp?) toasted marshmallow syrup I use for my iced coffees. Both flavorings worked fine, it has to be oil free or it will "kill" the icing. Have fun!
          Patti,
I remember the retail craziness. Some folks were super nice and others were on the verge of insanity. It seemed the later in the day it got, the worse the customers became. Good luck on the new recipe!
          NM,
It sounds as if you have been a busy beaver! For your strawberry bread what form are the strawberries in? Fresh, frozen, dried, jam? It sounds pretty tasty. A friend made us a lemon-blueberry loaf with pecans. That didn't last too long. It was super yummy warmed in the toaster oven, with just a touch of butter and a mug of hot cocoa.
How cool is it that you have another finish for Christmas! Go you! (Can I loan you my pre-schooler for a few hours so I can get a few things finished?)

To all of the other gals that check in, but don't chat: Have a great day and take care!

I use frozen strawberries (2 boxes). Its something fun to do with my daughter and our elderly neighbors love that the kids make the delivery. One year they went to 4 houses and come home in about 5 1/2 hours. Each neighbor wanted to visit, plus my kids really enjoy it too.

                Hello ladies
I am peeking in for a minute while the dinner down the hill is cooking.

Sounds like you have all been so busy and productive! I have missed my daily visits but hoping to be able to sit and read a bit tomorrow.

I am so thankful to each of you who offered your prayerful support and friendship during this terriblly sad time.

I have to say it was so odd to me to open my mail on Saturday, the 18th and receive birthday greetings, christmas cards and sympathy cards. So surreal.

I haven't stitched anything by hand or machine. I brought some with me to Mom's but that was really dreaming. Hubs and I have been spending the nights down there and now that the funeral is over, we will stay there through Christmas I think. It is only next door but that seems a million miles away when the ground is covered with snow!

Hope to check in later, dear ones. My kitty misses me, too.
