    Friday, Dec 3

Don't stop the press just yet. I am peeking in real quick. The company will leave today while I am at work and yet another set of visitors will be seen tomorrow. But they are only a one day visit. I really miss getting in here and reading. I really miss sitting here at the computer a bit and I really miss ME.

I have had a boat load of fun with my cousin this week. We did get a nice rag lap quilt finished for my Luscious Larry this week. And yesterday afternoon when I finished meeting all the family hair needs at the salon, sis, cuz and I drove to the Joann's and used some coupons and sale items. I purchased a rag snipper with a 50 % off coupon, took advantage of some Olfa rotary blades at 6.99 for two and splurged on a desk top ott lamp for my sewing table using another 50% off. Yay for me. When I got home with the haul, hubs says, what's in the bag. Sheepishly I tried to smile my most winning grin and said, Merry Christmas to me?

Hope to get caught up some more in the reading this evening after work.

    Missed y'all.

Good for you Blondie. Merry Christmas. I'm off to a Christmas party and lunch/birthday party. My girlfriend was born on Christmas day, so we try to make it a birthday with roses on the cake in her favorite color instead of Poinsettias. That way we celebrate her too.
I'm a little short on gifts this year but they won't care. Thank goodness. Love to you all have a wonderful day. We got lucky with the weather. Just 70 miles away from us got 28 inches of snow and had the Thruway shut down for 16 hours. People sat in their cars stranded while it snowed on them. It was awful for them. We only got 4 inches here. We lucked out. But it is coming I'm sure. The weather man said it will snow from now till April.

Blondie, glad to hear from you! Enjoy your house company, and then enjoy your quiet house when they have all gone home!

I stayed up too late last night (early this morning) after we took my sister out for her birthday.
Yesterday was a much better day all around. The car was taken in for repair and the insurance will cover all but the deductible. Apparently the insurance company is happier if you hit a deer than if you hit another car. I guess they figure that Bambi won't be filing a claim or trying to sue you for every last dime.
Emily had a really good day at both speech therapy sessions. We left her new "herring aids" for repair. OK, so they are only going to swap the ones with the clear housing (Mom thinks they look cool, but not as cool as the giraffe patterned ones) for the tan/flesh-toned ones that Emily wants. Who knew that a 4 year old would be so adamant about the fact that she wanted the boring, old-fogey "brown ones" with all of the cool colors and patterns that are available on the market? The new sound compression feature does seem to be helping, so I'll sacrifice the cool factor for the ones she'll wear. Then she got to go to Nana's to play while we went to Seattle. Happy day for her! She loooves her Nana!
For her birthday, we took my sister to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. That was my first trip there. Wow! I swear they have anything and everything you could possibly imagine on the menu. The thing was at least 12 pages. Of course the last two were exclusively desserts. We counted 35 types of cheesecake alone! I had the farfalle (bowtie pasta) in a garlic cream sauce and a slice of Turtle cheesecake for dessert. **Note to self: As tempting as it may be, DO NOT have the cup of espresso with your dessert if you want to go to bed before 2 AM** Since I did stop myself from eating more than half of both items, I have plenty leftover to make myself a wonderful lunch and a very indulgent dessert tonight. I was also able to breathe comfortably through the concert. Portion control & will-power (won't power actually)! Huh! Who knew!
From there we went to McCaw Hall in Seattle for a concert by the a capella group Straight No Chaser. Apparently the reason we had to see them during the week was the concert hall is used for the Seattle Ballet's Nutcracker with sets by Maurice Sendak (Where the Wild Things Are) Friday through Sunday. (It has been years since I have been to see it, but I think Emily will be old enough next year!)
The concert by Straight No Chaser was fantastic. I would have been thrilled with only Holiday music, but they did a nice mix of their non-holiday fare and then hit us with the Christmas tunes. It is hard to believe that there are NO instruments during the whole concert. There were several songs I loved to hear in person, but I think my absolute favorite was their final encore. They came out on stage without their individual microphones and did a rendition of O Holy Night that was absolutely breathtaking. I swear there wasn't a single sound from the audience until the last note cleared the air. If you have some time to spare, I strongly suggest you look them up on YouTube. Their story is pretty amazing. We'll try to see them again the next time they are in Seattle, as my husband had a good time too.
Well, I have prattled on here long enough. I am going to go try to catch a few more winks now that Hubby has left for work, and before the preschooler gets up.
Have a good day and take care!
      Cathy
P.S. Jan: HOLY COW 28 inches of snow!!!! You did luck out by only getting 4. I think that may be the first time I was ever happy to hear of anybody being shorted on yardage! Have a good time with your friends! Your presence will all ways be the prefect present if you are there because you care about the person. -C
