    TGIS

I know, I know, it's supposed to be TGIF but I lost a day so now it is TGIS.
I was sick as the proverbial dog thursday nite and all day yesterday. Fever, chills, the whole thing. With the first tingle I started taking the zinc losenges and spraying zicam stuff in my mouth. It does help keep a cold from progressing as badly. Thank you Luscious Larry for being so giving . . .
I feel a lot better now, not 100% but at least I can sit up. I don't remember anything except wallowing in the bed yesterday.
Need to get caught up on my reading.

My goodness, hope you get to feeling better Blondie!

I'm off to a quilt shop this morning to learn how to make the next BOM. Made last months block for myself and my sister. For some reason, her block turned out a lot nicer than mine!

The quilt shop is over 40 miles away, but they also have the best little burrito place where you can buy some really awesome homemade corn tortillas, it is soooooooooooo worth the trip in more ways than one. (Yes, I can make my own, but why when someone else has the best you ever put in your mouth). Hopefully we'll get some grocery shopping in too.

After grocery shopping, it will be home to clean, clean, clean. I'm hoping to find a way to store some of the fabric that has been purchased on the daily deal. This mornings DD is beautiful!!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!!

Ha ppy snazzy Saturday back to ya all!

Making a run to the post office this morning and then back here to red up the bedroom and dining room table before I get something out to sew. Of course most of the stuff I am redding up is quilt things so it will be good to get it somewhat organized again. It sure would be nice to have my own sewing room - would save lots of redding up around here. Oh well. Someday I will have 2 extra bedrooms when all the kids are out on their own so I don't mind my own space for now. Unless, of course, the 22 year old decides to live here until he is 42!
Also need to take some photos of the trees outside for Odie. There isn't much color in his world down at Parris Island so thought a few colorful photographs would help some.

Hope everyone is having a great day - hope that bug is outta ya Blondie. Not a fun way to lose a day.

            Hugs!

A beautiful day for a wedding - hope it's nice up there where you are Jan.

Had to stop at Goodwill here in town - I mean, I was driving past it and there was one open car space right in front of the store - must have been waiting for me!
I got one of those 6 cubicle wire storage thingies for $4.!!! Even though I don't have my own sewing room, I can get stuff for it for the future! Maybe I could set it up somehow in the bedroom and put the quilting stuff in there in it. It would help to get it off the floor, DH can't argue with that.

                Hugs,

Hi all. I had a great day yesterday!!! I went to the local quilt show.. being held in Grand rapids MN... put on by the Loon County Quilt guild... i am joining these folks... dues are 15.00 for the whole year..
My Abbey is seven.... see did great! they had a treasure hunt and had her find images on the fabric... then they gave her a nice gift bag. it had treats and paper and tooth brush... it was nice...abbey owns a sewing machine... a little brats one... i got it at a garage sell for 10.00 bucks. she used it once and the ladies were so pleased to hear. about it... i went and bought some shelving brackets today... i need to organize my fabrics.... no more buying tilll i weed through the pile.... good golly i have more than i need... but some how i don't have enough..... hoarding. i think if it were to be all contained... it would be so manageable. i have broke so many of my rules...

rule 1) no buying more fabric til current project is done. broke rule number one a long time ago..

any body else going through this?
                  all the best

I broke that one about 14 1/2 years ago right after I started quilting 15 years ago!!!!

                          Hi ladies
Thank you for the well wishes. I worked for about 4 hours at the salon and passed a perm onto a co worker. I couldn't make it any longer on my feet with a woozy head and shaking legs. Felt real good for about 2 hours and then it was nuts for me. I stopped at sis's house and made her come with me to the salon, in case I needed her to drive me home. When I got home I napped for about 3 more hours. I really feel pretty good, just exhausted. Which is hard to understand since I slept so much yesterday and last night. Oh well, I will take my sleep as I can get it, that's for sure. I haven't been down to the folks as I am askeered that they will catch this thing. So. it is big brother's turn. He lives even closer to the folks than I do, so he can do his turn. Found out that he sent his wife down there to check on them. What a stinker. Even though he's my brother and I love him I could kick his hiney! Sis and I take turns but me more than brother and sister because of various reasons. One plus is not having too many fingers in the pie, so to speak. While my Mom was at her most critical last year, my sis had a breakdown. She has always been more fragile that way. Brother has some disabilities. So, it worked out for me to take care of both folks and help with my sis. It works out for the folks and I since all the dr's know me very well by now. I could tell you stories about that, let me tell you. I am very much a Pollyanna personality but don't try to mess with my folks. I make all medical workers accountable. Period. Thank goodness for the internet.
Okay, don't know how that rant got started! Good grief, now you know how my mind works. Called short attention span.
Luscious made me a nice PBJ for dinner. Awwww. Tomorrow is our anniversary. I may cook for hiim tomorrow. Perhaps he would like a PBJ?
And ladies, you have NO idea how addicted I am to YOU. (and MSQC) You would have to know that I was almost comatose to not get online yesterday, LOL.
Have a wonderful evening. I am filled with all sorts of ideas once reading these threads again.
Big blessings to each of you.

                            Re: TGIS

Yeah, I can't seem to keep from buying the stuff either. As you can all see, I don't need anymore fabric any time soon.
I took Em with me to the library today and we got her her own card and we spent nearly two hours there. There is the interactive computer station she likes to play with, and they had a big dinosaur floor puzzle we HAD to finish because some body didn't. She has a hard time picking out the books she wants to take home. We have to look through a lot of them.
From there we went to JoAnn's to pick up a couple of stamp pads to use with books I ordered from the library. (I really love that feature.) We will be using Ed Emberley's books on thumb & finger print drawing to make some birthday cards and possibly our Christmas cards if I can keep her interest that long. I also checked out the books of basic drawing. She is not ready for the more advanced pictures yet. She can draw shapes, and Ed uses shapes, letters, and numbers to help kids of all ages create relatively realistic drawings of all sorts of things. The books are under $10 from Amazon and I highly suggest them if you have kids on your Christmas list. After the water fairy costume, I will be attempting to design a carrier for the soft cover books with a pad of paper, and a place for crayons, colored pencils, or markers. I had this brain storm as a gift for a young cousin who's parents are always traveling and like for him to play with things that aren't always electronically based. We'll see if I am this year's cool cousin, or the geeky one.
Anyhow while I was at JoAnn's I had the 50% off coupon for buying the stamps and of course, they were on sale. (I miss the days when they would use your coupon instead of the sale price if it was cheaper.) So now I have this half-off coupon burning a hole in my pocket. I came home with their version of a Jelly Roll. It has 3.5 yards of fabric for $24.99 ($12.50) in an assortment of blue, green and purplish-blue batiks. A that price I don't care if it is "top quality", I know my brother won't know the difference. This is going to be a test run for a quilt I want to make, and the original Jelly Roll was more expensive, so I'll see how it goes together, and get a Christmas gift out of the way at the same time. See, I can't even stop buying for new projects. I think we are all hopeless.
Gina: That sounds like a great outing for everybody. What a fabulous way for the guild to make the show interactive for the whole family!
Trish: Nice score at the Goodwill! That is the way to begin the organization process! May I suggest that you put down either a piece of template plastic or some such to keep things from sifting through the bottoms of the cubbies, and to keep your fabric from getting grid marks.
                            Jan: Enjoy the wedding!
Blondie: I hope you are on the mend. That kind of sick is miserable.
May the rest of you have a great day doing what you love!

                              Hi Cathy
I so admire you and how you are raising the kiddos. I made a divided tote this past year for a friend's granchild. Made it like a shoulder bag, was able to fit coloring book and drawing pad in the dividers. Then on the outside I made the crayon holders - much like a crayon roll and a pocket for little round nose scissors that I sewed a ribbon to hold the scissors in place.
It worked out pretty good for no pattern. You and I are pretty much seat of the pants kind of gals. Works for me.
It is wonderful also that you are teaching the creativity and love of learning so young. Kudos! Great that your library has all this to offer as well. I donate a lot to our library - if the books were by pounds it would be a ton. Love books. And magazines.
I hate it also when Joann's stopped giving the discount on sale items. When I go with my coupon everything I am interested in purchasing is on sale. No fair!!!!
Gina, do your organizing like you eat a steak. One bite at a time. Otherwise you will be overwhelmed. Take it from me. When I get overwhelmed, I can't focus, no creativity and depressed. One box of scraps at a time. Wish I could help you out! Glad that you found a guild and that your sweet pea was with you. How terrific that you are getting her indoctrinated young.
