    Today is Thursday

Good Morning to all, I hope everyone is well rested this morning and has a great day. I'll check back later on everyone.

    Re: Today is Thursday

Not quite morning here yet! I am never sure if I should start the next day's thread when it is Midnight on the east coast, or post to the current one. By the time I get back to the the thread in my morning, it is noonish for most of you. Oh well, I'll work something out.

I am just about to clear off the last of the junk from my cutting table so I can get to some quilt blocks. This organizing thing has taken much longer than I thought. It is good though. I have been meticulously going through each box/bin/bag and putting the items where they go, or tossing them out if they don't work for me anymore. I have become addicted to the label thingie I bought my husband a few years ago. It was supposed to help him organize his tools & hardware in the shop. Yeah. I think I have also found where everybody's pens go when you can't find them. I'd return them to you, but sadly, most of them don't write anymore. This should leave me with mostly papers left to organize in the file cabinets and I am done in here.
I will have to wrestle with the DSL thing in morning to make it work wirelessly (new word?) from our room. Then I can kick the teenager out of my sewing space to do his homework somewhere else! I can't sew with him sitting in my chair.
Next task ... organize the master bedroom closet! I think I'll need a stiff drink first, and maybe a divorce lawyer by the time I am done. (Those clothes from the 70's are never gonna fit you again Honey.)

I love classic recipes. Of course they are the ones loaded with butter, eggs, sugar, and other horrible for you yummies. I'll have to post Grandmother Eleanor's gingersnap recipe. So yummy! I found it when I was going through an old recipe box of my husband's grandparent's. Got a great zuchinni bread (I can't spell that tonight either) recipe from there too.
Those are the ones you need to make notes on for the next generation. I have been thinking about starting a list of the recipes my daughter and I make together. Then I'll know what to copy for her when she leaves the nest. I am not sure how often she'll need the recipe for playdough in college, but at least she'll have it. I guess since she is only four, I'll have a few years to work on that.
We get to sleep in a bit tomorrow. Speech therapy has been canceled for tomorrow at the hospital. The therapist has a sick kiddo and won't be in. I hope he is better soon.

Well ladies, I'll quit procrastinating on this last bit of organizing, polish it off, and hit the hay.

Good Morning All. Thank goodness I slept alot yesterday ...another sleepless night here but its actually ok Im still peeling apples and now have 3 crock pots going lol
I hope you all enjoy this recipe as much as I do ...Today I made a double batch with cranraisins and orange peel.Oh mercy so good. Rodney however needs frosting on his. Men!!
Make the batter a day before you bake them.
      Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
      1 cup sugar 2 cups Self_Rising flour
1 cup shortening 1 1/2 cups Quick Oats
1 cup raisins 1/4 tsp Baking soda
      1 cup water
      2 egg, beaten
Cream sugar and shortening together. Cook raisin in the water until there are 5 tablespoons of water remaining. Drain raisins, keeping the liquid. Cool completely.
Mix flour, baking soda, oats and raisins together. Add eggs and the 5 tablespoons of the liquid that was left. Mix well, cover and place in the refrigerator over night. When ready to bake, drop by teaspoons of batter on a greased cookie sheet350 for 13 minutes. Makes approx 5 dozen cookies.
I did the same but with Craisins and added a little orange peel. Both were excellent.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day...and EWww now I know what a pole cat is ..
I'm so glad I had this mental picutre of 10 foot tall cat ...slinking around in the dark making skeery shadows on windows.

        Re: Today is Thursday

Hi ladies, I actually have to wait untill it's evening here before any of you get to morning, I could put up the first post of every day.

I thought I would share my special day with you. Today is my wedding anniversary, we have had 32 wonderful years together, plus the courting which makes it 35 years in total. I did suggest some expensive jewelery would be reasonable compensation for so many years of my life, my ever loving husband just laughed, but he did make a special effort to get home earlier than normal so we could go out for dinner. Now he is happily snoozing in the lounge chair, being married for so long must be tiring.

I hope everyone else has a great day.
        Lynn

No time to sit and visit; actually lucky that I found a minute to stick my head through the door here.
Hope that everyone has a wonderful day; rainy here and cooling down a wee bit again.
Laura, that recipe sounds delish! My sis made some oatmeal/craisin cookies on Monday for our sewing day. They were melt in your mouth good.

Toggpine - good for you on the organizing. After that mess in the bsement with the rain the other week, I need to continue sorting out the rest that just got cleaned and straightened. I am a slob when it comes to sewing; I have heaps of fabric that I pull out and then have to put back away. I know I should do it each time but I don't. slob tendencies, I tell you. And the recipe share with your DD is an ongoing thing for my girl and I. She is always calling me saying how did you do this or that. I am in the process of making her and my sons a recipe collection of their favorite recipes of mine. I thought that would make a nice "unbirthday present".

Lynn, Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby! We celebrated 27 years a few months ago, in pretty much the same way you did! LOL dinner and then hubby slept in his chair so I came into the sewing room and stitched away the evening......
Laura, sorry to hear you didn't sleep well last night and that you passed out yesterday! I sure hope they get that figured out and soon. Thanks so much for the cookie recipe, they sound sooo yummy! I will have to try them out very soon!
Blondie, I am pretty much a slob in the sewing room too, but I really do know where everything is!
Togpine I am with you on the homework situation, DD uses my computer alot, since it's the one with the printer, but I make her bring her own chair now so I can continue doing what I want to do in here.
I am off work today, going to work on my swap blocks and cutting these tiny squares for my friend.
I am using a pinking blade on my rotary cutter, so at least they have the decorative edges. There are 4 different pieces of fabric, 1 yd. each and I have 1 completely cut and the 2nd is more than 1/2 done.......do you know there are approx. 952 1-1/4 in squares to a yard of fabric!!! Wowzers that would have been alot to cut with scissors! So, saying that, I am considering these tiny squares and laundry my chores of the day....sew a bit,cut a bit, rotate laundry......just sayin' LOL

Everybody sure is quiet on here today!
I just finished cutting all of that fabric, 4 yds down to about 3800 tiny squares. I am soooo glad it's done! I just focused on that and laundry today. This evening will be all about finishing up the blocks for the swap!

Hey gang I just got this material for curtians in my future mudroom/laundry/sewing room. The room is vintage in decor so I thought this might look fun for cafe curtians.

                      Re: Today is Thursday

That's a great fabric for a vintage look but I don't like it out of principle as if we need to be reminded that we are expected to do all those tedious chores.

Tedious chores yes. Thank the Lord for dishwashers, the new washers/dryers of today and permanant press. I remember my mom ironing bed sheets! Mind you I will let you in on a secret....
I like doing dishes. It is my quiet time as I watch the birds at the feeder.

Hi Ladies I took a nap today and slept the day away , Shame on me. It's 6pm here in Minnesota and 64 degrees and dropping I just finished the top of a quilt that I'm working on the other day. Now I'm stuck and I don't know how to do the border or the back of the quilt . This is my first quilt ,so I guess it will have to sit until I figure that out.
