Today when the sun comes up I am definitely making more of the Applesauce cake ...The recipe is as follows
the recipe is as follows
Applesauce Cake in a Jar
10 wide mouth pint canning jars- 10 lids and rings
Cream 2/3 cups shortening
2 2/3 cups sugar
beat in 4 eggs
3 cups of applesauce or 25 oz
taste at this point and add 2/3 cup more sugar if needed
2 tsp vanilla
3 1/3 cup plain ole flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
Blend everything together
add 2/3 raisins or nuts or both...depends on what you like
Bake at 325 for 45 minutes
Pour into clean well greased pint jars. 1 cup of batter in each one. (set jar on wire rack in oven)
When done removed 1 jar at a time from the oven.Have your lids already soaking in hot water. Wipe off the top of your jar and seal...go to the next one ( check later to see if they are sealed you should hear the popping all over the house )
When cool- cut a circle of fabric for a cover and a pretty ribbon wrap around the top of the jar.
I put my name on it for gift giving.
Small elastic hats for dolls work too )
she notes on the side that this recipe is so fun to do and soo yummy!!
I will be on for a while... and this time I will remember to log out lol!! instead of leaving my name on for hours...
