10 wide mouth pint canning jars- 10 lids and rings
    Cream 2/3 cups shortening
    2 2/3 cups sugar

    Good Morning

Laura, that recipe sounds terrific! And I hope that you got some extra sleep. I slept like a log last night.
Finished the lap quilt up and will be bringing down to Daddy today. I washed it, dried it and it feels so soft, warm and like a lil quilt is supposed to feel. Am I supposed to log out? Most times I just minus out and pop in randomly and have to resign in again? I promise I am not a stalker if my name is on the list of those online. LOL.

We have company coming in from out of town. One of my Aunties is arriving this afternoon. Mom wants to cook the dinner and I am to bring dessert. Oh what shall I bring???

I do know that I need to clean my sewing area a little bit. I have been cleaning it in spurts after all that nasty water. Smells okay down there, still ironing the strings and scraps that got saturated. I did buy a few totes last weekend so all that pile is safe and dry right now, just looks like a rats nest.

Later on I may try to post a pic of some of the blocks my sis and I have been working on. Just some whimsy that the two of us are collaborating on that will be a one of a kind. Lots of embroidery that we will be appliquing. I think this may be a lifetime quilt . Cat does the most lovely embroidery. My stitches are very primitive, hehehe

Off to get my day started. OH! Did you gals see the newest video where MSQC announces that they are doing some professional filiming for CLASSES?

Anxiously awaiting the videos! I have watched nearly all of the UTube videos. They were most helpful in my first quilt, Dresden Plate, baby quilt. I posted some pictures of them a while back.

We are very happy that you are going to be able to "produce" your own movies!

      Good Luck!

        Morning ya'll

Jumping on here real quick because I need to get ready to go to work. Man time flies when I'm home and is slow as molasses at work! I just daydream about what I can do when I get home.
Laura that recipe looks yummy! Thanks for sharing. I'm so happy to see you in good spirits!

Blondie - thanks for the :heads up" on the new videos! Have fun visiting with your Auntie! I bet your Dad will be so happy when you give him the quilt! Yeah!

Hey Pat - I'll have to go searching for the picture of your quilt. I like the Dresden Plate design and hope to make one sometime!

Have a great day and I'll check in after work!

Another quick visit here and I am so in LUST for today's Daily Deal! I can't get it - no $$ but I love the colors, prints, BIG SIGH. Thinking of all the cute and quaint little blocks to be made from this. Wouldn't it make a special kid blankie or table runner or a few for apron pockets or . . . Off to look for my crying towel.

Good morning everyone. Laura I'm sorry you couldn't sleep last night.
Blondie you'll have to tell us the look on your dad's face when he gets his lap quilt. Very proud of you for taking care of your parents like you do. In this day and age it's rare to see a child stand by his/her parents.
Well I'll be getting the house ready for the weekly show and tell my friends and I have. This week we will be working on our quilting homework. And of course we'll be waiting for Dawnie to show us her weekly quilted something she made. She is so good. We love her surprises. Have a good day people and quilt, quilt, quilt! love, Jan

              Good moring everyone!
Laura - thanks for starting the thread but sorry you were up so early. Hope you are resting now. Your recipe looks amazing. Think I will make it to give to neighbors during the holidays. I grew up when neighbors did things like that.
Blondie - Love to see pics of what you and sis are working on. Have a nice dinner with your Auntie and I am sure your dessert will impress! I am in the same boat lusting for the Daily Deal and no $$ to play with!
Pat - thanks for sharing the link that teases us with classes. Isn't Sarah cute? When I met her she said "hi, I am Sewhot (from the board) and I am so not"! But she is adorable and just as bubbly in person!
Shelia - I am daydreaming all day here at work too! The older I get the more I want to just be home, with the occasional visit to the fabric store...lol!
Jan - Did you get the floors done? You should post us a pic of your birds!

Well, had a lousy day at work yesterday. Someone quit with 2 day notice. She worked here a long time but this is the 3rd person in 2 months to leave. I was trying to help the owner with his payroll by not hiring replacements but with this last person jumping ship I will have to or work long hours seven days a week. I am NOT that dedicated since I am not sure how long the store will remain open. Just hoping to make it last til after the holidays and after the first of the year when I will earn my 4 weeks vacation for next year!
Oh well...break is over...back to the grind!
              Happy quilting to all!

I forgot to ask - anyone seen Gina who was going to visit her friend whose mother passed? I was just thinking of her this morning and was hoping she was okay.
Take care - see ya later!

                      Hi everybody!

It sounds like we all have busy days today! I WILL get this space done today! Iwill, I will, I will! This no sewing thing is killing me! I have things to get stitching on and I can't wait to mess up this great newly cleaned area!
I must make a batch of playdough for pre-school first though. The mom who is supposed to be making it is having trouble with the recipe or something. The batch she sent yesterday was bad. It was super sticky and wouldn't hold a shape. That was a huge mess to clean off of the kids, the playdough toys, and the table. Yuck! We are exploring apples this week. So I think I'll make a batch of deep red or a golden color. I'll add a cinnamon scent since I don't have any apple.
I never log out. I just flip to the next site or close out my browser. It must look like I lurk on here all day. I just hate having to sign in! I guess let me know if my dot never goes out, and then I'll know if I need to log out.

                        Hi Ladies!
Everybody is so busy! Laura108, I am having trouble staying asleep as well, and have decided if I can't get back to sleep in a reasonable amount of time, I am just going to get up and go to my sewing room and stitch. If I have to take a nap during the day, so be it.
I am hard at work with my classes, learning medical coding is going to be the death of me, but it must be done so that I can move forward in the working world. I cannot believe it has been a year since I lost my job! I am finally realizing I have been depressed for most of the year, and I need get up and out of it! I am having a hard time with that, but I don't want to do any meds if at all possible. I probably need to exercise, that might do the trick!
I hope everyone is having a great day!

Boo Hoo! Just found out that due to budget cuts in town they will be doubling the cost of our quilting class. Which means we won't be having a class anymore because they already raised the cost since the spring and I'm sure the other ladies can't afford it. Since I am so new at this I really need to find some classes to take.

Your dot is out now toggpine. Patti, Gina left saturday at noon. The wake was yesterday and the funeral was today. She was going to stay for a couple of days to make sure her friend was going to be ok. Yes I got my filthy floors clean, took me an hour but they are clean. I have to get a camera that I can upload photos with. I will send photos of the birds then. I also need a lesson from my son on how to do that. I have one photo of Emily on my computer but don't know how to show her to you. But then I thought I don't want to unless I have permission from my son and his wife. They are very protective of her. With good reason she is a pretty kid. And you never know who is lurking out there. Although I'm pretty sure she would be safe here. I'll let you know. If you are not on the quilters forum your lights are all out. I think if you change to another site you are automatically off. I don't think you have to log out. Love ya, Jan
