    10/9 - Saturday

    Morning all!
Had to get up early to drop the BF at his sister's for a trip down to St. Louis to visit their brother Archie. He had a double transplant months ago and is very very slowly healing from so many set backs. He got a kidney and liver tranplant but then they had to replace the liver again! He has had so many surgeries in the same area that the Drs can't believe he made it through. He is so weak but I kept telling my distraught BF that Archie was a fighter and I would not give up on him and neither should he! That was 4 months ago and he is still fighting and finally starting to heal.
I stayed home to help my daughter finish up her move and clean up her old place. Gonna put a turkey roast in the crock pot so I can give her a home cooked meal cuz that what Mom's are for right?

Laura - so glad you got good news about any heart damage. Hope you continue to improve with the docs help! Your Walmart story must have been mortifying but the way you told it did give me a giggle! I like eating the lowcarb way. I eat all the fat I want, eggs, meat, BACON! Last night was date night and we went to this wonderful mexican restaurant and I ate one tortilla, a little beans and rice and my stomach is killing me this am. I just feel better and have more energy when I limit my carbs to the carbs that are in veggies.
Shauna - my family were not huggers but my bf's family are huggers and kissers. My family is so small and when I fell in love with the bf I also fell in love with his family and the way they are touchy feely! Now I hug everyone in my family and some just stand there stiffly which cracks me up.
Jan - you were up late! Sure hope you got some sleep!
Cathy - Wow...I thought the big city was scary but sounds like your community, which is probably a lovely area, was a scary place for a while. People are so motivated by greed that it is sad.
Suzi - Glad you got some good work done on the wedding quilt!
Blondie - would love a danish with my coffee as I play Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook - perfect way to relax!
Hillbilly - I hope you can get rid of the paranormal sewing machine soon!
Trish - thanks for the pics! You must be so proud of your son's graduation! The baby quilt is adorable and so is Odie!
Blondie - I've seen the pics of the walmart people and I've seen the pics of you....no comparison!!
Shelia - Big hugs to you honey!! I know what that's like. I just force myself to work on something or take a nice nap to make myself snap out of it! Please keep talking to us...maybe we can help or at least be here for you in some way!

Well - my daughter and her dog are still sleeping so I am going to quietly pick up my sewing area and bedroom. Hope you all have a great day!

That must be hard for your BF! I'm glad his brother is improving. I can't imagine how everyone must hold their breath until signs of improvement start. Hopefully he will be better soon and I will keep ya'll in my thoughts!

You are a sweet mom!! Yeah that's what mom's are for! Hope her settling in her new place goes well for both of you and she isn't too far away!

Please don't worry on my account. I was just having one of those weeks and threw myself a pity party and now I'm on the road to recovery. Really I feel bad when I complain because I know lots of people really have it worse than me. I did miss my Sunday afternoon nap last week...hmmm

Laura - I hope you are feeling better

Have a great day - I'll check in later!

Laura be careful when you are out in the sun some of those meds you are on can cause you to get sunburned really easy. I can't be in the sun for longer than 30 minutes and I start to get burned. I am sorry about the phone. You started breaking up and then you were gone. So I'll wait to hear from you here.
Shelia, you have the right to have a funky moment and to complain. Which I didn't think you were doing anyway. You are stretched thin my love. And if you need to talk it out I'm here. As I am sure we all are. You are family and family takes care of their own, no?
You need a dose of Bridgett. She makes us all laugh. Of course you do too. You two should take a comic act on the road.
I hope everyone's Saturday is filled with fun and lots of love.
Laura, make those people wait on you, not you on them. Make Rodney wait on them.
Put your feet up when you get back or take a nap sweetie. You gotta take care of you!
        I love you. Jan

Patti I hope your BF's brother is on the road to recovery. I send my prayers in his direction and to you and your BF as well. Sometimes getting better is hard on the family as well as the recoveree . Been there done that. The stress on my Daughter-in-law and son has been awful with Emily's recovery. They are still doing good though and hanging in there. I'm proud of them. If Emily goes into remission she has her Mom and Dad to thank. But especially Heather lee. She has had to bear the brunt of it all. And still be Mom to two other children and try to keep a normalish household for them. It's been rough on all of them. My son had to work of course so he gets away from it everyday. Where Heather is with all of it 24/7. She and Emily are my heros.
So I'll send prayers for your bf's family which includes you. Love, Jan

Hey there. Going to be quick as we are off for our Salmon day adventure. Roast in the crock pot. Yes gotta love that invention! Had a real funky day too yesterday. Totally can relate. Better today. It is my BD today and my hubby gave me a beautiful antique bracelet and tickets to a concert. My daughters gave me a beautiful canna lily plant in mauve. Mom gave me a beautiful coloverleaf pendant. I am very blessed! So today is a much better day and I have shaken off the blues...time is too short. Wishing everyone well, blessings on you and your families.

                Hello hello Hello!
Late getting in here today - I slept in and was almost late for work. Tried to get in here for a hello but the forum wouldn't co operate so here I am. Better late than never, right?

Patti, my heart goes out to your BF. It sounds as if he is very close to his brother. How fortunate your BF is to have you as strong moral, emotional and spiritual support. Big hugs to you for who you are and the things you are doing for others. I am a firm believer in casting bread upon the water. And how can a Mom NOT do what you do to help your daughter. I think all of us here who are Moms can totally relate. I am sure she appreciates your time and tender mercies.

Laura, I wondered if you would be hitting Mt. Airy. Years ago, I used to do the craft show stuff all over southside Va and Nc area. Mt. Airy is always a fun place to be during the fall. And hope as Laura suggested you watch the glorious sun today with the combo of meds. I had surgery in March of this year to have emergency gall bladder surgery and was told to stay out of the sun. I wore long sleeves and was weeding. Broke out in a horrible rash like sun poisoning. Be careful.

                Sally:

It sounds like your day is already perfect. Please let me know what a salmon run is! hehehe I am only assuming it is a fishing expedition?

Everyone else, have a great day. I will try to get back in later; I'm ready for a nap.

Happy Birthday to you Sally! Enjoy the fun day you have planned!

Just wanted to say thanks to all the kind words from you lovely's on here. It is sad to say but I really have no close girl friends here in Chicago. I have them miles and miles away in Michigan and in Massachusetts but none nearby me so it has been so wonderful to feel apart of a group that I can pour my heart out to and also understands my quilt obsession!

Thank you for all the prayers for my BF's brother and his family. I know everyone has burdens to bear but it is much easier when we can share the load with friends.

Well, got the daughter's place all cleaned out and cleaned up. She had to leave and meet some old friends for lunch so I finished up for her and came home with her doggie. Max. Max is sound asleep and I am exhausted, sore and wish I could nap but drank a gigantic iced coffee and am so wound up! I am going to go shower and throw some laundry in and take some pics of the quilt I just finished.

I will check in later - sounds like everyone is off enjoying their day!

Blondie, I know the Wally world pictures you were talking about yesterday. Some of them give me nightmares! And I went to visit your blog and love the spider web runner pattern. How long ago did you make that? It looks like a great way to use scraps; haven't been quilting long enough to have many scraps, but someday I'd like to make something like that.

                        Hi ladies!
I hope your days are going well. I just popped inside for a quick bite of lunch. My husband, Em, & I got up this morning and got the big barn pitched out. Then I decided to trim some feet. Ugh, that tweaks my back, but it needs to be done or they can become lame. Now I'll head back out in the rain and pitch the smaller barn that the retired ladies use. Then I can come in and take a nice hot shower, make some tea, and work on the sewing room some more.
They have caught 5 of the folks that shot up the neighborhood, but they are still missing some. The police think they may be holed-up some where out here on the peninsula. So, we are all still on high alert for strange people or behavior. We are all checking in with our neighbors to make sure all is well. Especially with those folks who live in more secluded spots or live alone. I do love our little community. I am just sorry that this is how people learned about it. It is quieter today. There haven't been helicopters hovering over head all day and patrol cars zooming up and down the main road. You still see them, but they aren't quite so frantic and there are more "undercover" cars.

Happy Birthday Sally! Prayers & positive thoughts to those in need of them.

Hi Cathy, It's good they got 5 maybe they'll snitch about the others hideouts etc. I'd be terrified. that is why I will always have a dog to alert if someone is on the property. They make the best door alarms. I don't mind if they bark. I'd rather be warned. I may learn how to use a gun for that reason. Protection. I would learn right though, and know how to use it safely. And with precision. Lots of target practice. That sounds like fun at the shooting range. I know a few women that pack a pistol. And really know what they are doing. They had a sheriffs deputy teach them how. And one girl's husband sells guns and rifles and shotguns. He made her learn. She's glad she did. Too many home invasions happening around. My son and daughter-in-law know too. Her Dad taught her, and my son learned when he was hired to the police dept. He changed to firefighting but still visits a target range to keep in practice. Sad that the world has come down to making sure you can protect your family and yourself. It sounds like the old west has risen again. Sleep well but not sound Jan

Hi Pat, thanks for visiting my blog. The spider web block pattern was made up of loads of Aunt Grace fat quarters and scraps. I found the pattern at:

I have made up the blocks in several different sizes by reducing on my printer. so much fun and so old fashioned looking. It is a very easy way to get intro to paper piecing.

                              Hello all.

I hope that you have had a good day. Sally, did you have a wonderful birthday??

I got rid of the BAD machine, and came home with none. I have a bells and whistles one in layaway, but will probably just settle on something else. Bless my husbands heart, he wants me to have the best. If I were there alone, I'd have me a machine right now...maybe a bit plain, but not as plain as my Singer with only like 2 stitches. That may be an exaggeration, but not much.

I finally found some white fabric for the Christmas blocks. I have to mark my machine tonight for 1/4" (since I don't have a foot) so that I can start on them.

Sorry I didn't reply to each of your posts today...I just haven't time.
                              Hugs!
