Hey Laura, sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Please do as the Dr. orders and rest. I am glad to hear you are getting re-acquainted with the TV, and if the Dr. says to quilt, well who are we to argue with that?
I just got home from work and have a long list of what I want and need to accomplish on my weekend off. I am hoping to get caught up on my swap blocks, and many chores around the house too.

Laura, if you didn't live farther east, I'd have you over while I sort through this mess. You could sit on the couch, quilt, and chat while I try to figure out why on earth I bought some of this fabric I have in here.
Good Grief! I think I am going to need a twelve step program....
My name is Cathy and I am addicted to fabric.

OK, enough stalling, back to it. I've got to have this done by the time my sister gets here in the morning to start painting.

Is it legal for me to post on this thread if it's not midnight where I am? Deep thoughts!

Laura...so good to hear that you are resting. I don't know what the tv is either. When the docs put me to bed while pregnant I did watch forensic files all the time. And play pogo. My fingers were too swollen to sew. Don't worry about the fuzzy mind. My mind is fuzzy with no excuse.

Have fun painting today. I am not a fan of painting!

You can chat to your hearts content no matter the time. Laura said if you get here at midnight you could start another thread to talk about. Well, it's Saturday morning here and since I couldn't sleep I'm going to try and take a nap now. See Laura, I caught your insomnia. Sometimes day sleep is better anyway. I got used to sleeping anytime I could between emergency calls on ambulance duty. 20 minute naps can work wonders. Especially if you have had 19 calls in one day.

I just finished a ton of errands and am still determined to do some sewing......after the household chores are done, that is. DH picked one of my faves, meatloaf for supper so that should be pretty quick and easy to get in the oven. So, now off to finish putting things away from my errand run, vacuuming and clean the bathroom, I can have the embroidery machine running while I change sheets on the bed and clean the bathroom...WoooHooo! LOL

Re: Saturday October2nd, Gossip and giggles

Hi all...I did not forget you yesterday but typed up a reply and when I went to post it MSQC was down! I could not get back on and then got so frustrated!
Big hugs to Laura...praying for better health for you! So glad you are on here sharing!
Sounds like everyone is busy today. It is cloudy, windy and cool here in the Chi-town burbs and I cleaned house and threw laundry in and have cut my final 10 blocks for the Christmas Swap!
My client ordered 3 lap quilts and 1 baby quilt but she is sending info on who they are for along with a deposit so I am going to work on my other projects till that comes in. Heaven knows I have enough to do!
My little quilt business is just in the process of having a FB page but I have been too busy to do much too it so it is not up yet. I work at a stationery store and so I did print some nice business cards, stationery and some cute hang tags that I plan to hand cut with decorative scissors. Really have no $$ to do this all so it's a good thing I have a good discount and that FB is free! I will share the page info with all of you once it is ready! I hope to showcase my work and the work of other quilters as well.
I have some projects done for a small shop that asked me to share some things on consignment and need to set up some hand sewing things I can do on my train ride in and out of the city each day.
All this has kept my mind off all the other worries and stress in my life right now. When I sit down at my sewing machine my mind just relaxes.....aaahhh.....
Wishing you all a wonderful (and restful) afternoon.
Be thinking of you as I sew,

Re: Saturday October2nd, Gossip and giggles

                      Happy Saturday evening ladies

Long day at the salon and then a trip to the home improvement store to explore our options on the water in the basement from this past week. Lunch at a buffet was my treat from a nice tip from a perm I gave.

I still have difficulties from time to time - never really know when - this site will close up on me and I can't get back in for a while. And like our Patticakes, I have typed a response only to have it go dead. I am not going to complain since I am happy to have found a sweet landing place to visit and am enjoying getting to know y'all better.

I was thinking seriously about getting the deal of the day; I am fairly lame and brain dead to the different sizes, ie; layer cakes, dessert rolls, jelly rolls, etc. I have purchased a few jelly rolls before at Joann's. A batik and a shabby cottage looking fabric. I don't have a great selection of fabric where I live although there is a quilt store in nearby Martinsville, Va. Unfortunately, their prices can be quite prohibitive on my wallet. So, I will be just using most of my piles of scraps and fabrics that I have accumulated. My dear little old blue hairs bring me lots of truly vintage notiions and scraps from time to time. Blesses my heart when they toddle in the salon with an OLD paper bag full of Lord knows what. Good thing I am partial to scrappy stuff!

I gave my daughter her small quilt anniversary gift. I threatened her with NO DOGS allowed on it. We shall see how long it lasts. I put a pic in my photo album - for Sarah - the pic doesn't show the true colors at all but I had loads of fun making it. My next gift for her will be a butterfly quilt. She is my butterfly chic.

Hand quilting my Dad's log cabin throw. He is impatient for me to finish it.

Everyone have a good evening. Off to enjoy this cool evening air with a walk on the property with hubby.

                      Blessings

Re: Saturday October2nd, Gossip and giggles

I wish I could have had a nap today. I've been packing all day in preparation for the big move tomorrow. I think it's all done now but it's much too late for a nap (past 1am now!) so I'll head to bed for the night. While packing I've noticed a major flaw in my plan to use sewing to relax at university: all my tools are my mum's!

I have my own sewing machine, pins and scissors from doing dressmaking before I started quilting but for the past year I've been using mum's rotary cutter, mat, rulers and all kinds of other useful bits and bobs. I'm going to have to keep my eye out for sales otherwise I'll end up spending all my student loan on quilting supplies!

Don't worry christmas block swappers - I've cut out all my pieces so I'll be able to get them together at least!

Jr...you are further along than me!! Are you excited to go back to school? You'll miss some sewing time for sure!

Patti...I have a fb fan page for my business. Let me know if you need help.

Busy day here, but I got to go meet some old friends who haven't met my husband yet or the baby. It did my heart good to show them off!!

I didn't get tomorrows blog tutorial done, and there is a basement full of boys spending the night, so I think it will just be posted late tomorrow night. At least that way I have time on here!
