  • Hello from TN

    Hello group -

I'm Darren, and my wife Kimberly and I are a quilting team. She took a class several years ago but hated cutting fabric. Since I'm a math nerd I started cutting for her. She convinced me to take another class with her and now we both quilt. We piece on Pfaff machines and quilt on a Babylock Crown Jewel II. I also own a few vintage machines and love sewing with them also.

We have a nearly seven year old daughter who also is showing an interest in quilting. Her machine is a centennial Singer Featherweight.

I'm a member of another forum and have posted there a lot, but I have also lurked here. Tonight I saw a post about my favorite pattern, Storm at Sea, and wanted to respond, so I joined this forum also. I hope to be active here also as time permits.

Here is a pic of my little family. I will try to create an album with some of our quilts in the next few days.

Welcome from Canada. What a beautiful picture of your family and how lucky are you to share such a wonderful passion with your wife and daughter.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

Welcome to the forum Darren, also from Canada. My husband also took an interest in quilting when I was taking my beginner course. He's also a math genius and jumped right in, taking our second class together where we both made the Jaybird pattern, Gravity. He doesn't quilt as much as he would like as he has many other hobbies and interests, but a great husband for road trips to LQS and shows.

Lovely family picture. I think your daughter is about the same age as my daughter was, when she learnt to sew. A wonderful time ahead.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

Welcome from Illinois! Lovely family and so sweet that your daughter is starting to show interest in sewing. She's lucky to have not one, but two coaches!

Welcome from SW Ohio. Nice to hear of a family getting into quilting together. My hubby is a great cheerleader for me and helps with color selections...cutting and sewing? Nah. Hope you have enough time to share your experiences with us.
