    Hello

    Hi.

I just joined the forum and will share a bit about me. I live in Maryland and sewing has been my passion for many years...in fact, probably for more years than many of you have been alive. I'm 77, and altho that's pretty old, I'm still "going strong." I've been married to my best friend for 57+ years and he's a definite keeper. I've been sewing since I was about 5; my DGM had lots more patience than my DM did, and she taught me to embroider, cross stitch and sew by hand. I graduated to the sewing machine at 8 and have been addicted ever since. I sewed for myself and my kids, especially my daughter, and my only regret is that I didn't discover my real love, heirloom sewing, before she was grown. I had the joy of sewing beautiful garments for my DGDs, but my DGC are all now in their 20's with no DGGC in sight. Hope does spring eternal...so maybe one day. I also really enjoy machine embroidery and have done some Anita Goodesign quilts for children (that I hope to give to a DGGC someday). Recently, I made my first two real quilts, actually they are large throws (75 x 88). They were very simple, made with centered panels with rows of borders from fabric from the design line. They turned out surprising well and they were the first quilts I had professionally quilted. It gave me a taste of quilting and I did enjoy making them. Now I think I might actually piece a bed sized one. I look forward to learning from you and sharing when I can.

Welcome from Colorado, Barbara ~ There are plenty of seniors on this Forum, so you're not so old. I took up quilting after I retired from nursing 10 yrs. ago. It's very addictive. Glad you joined us.
