New Member Who Bit Off More Than She Can Chew

I'm signing up on the forum because I got tempted at the quilting store with the America's Garden Quilt kit and bought it. I've made a few quilts, but am far from an expert and now I'm worried I bit off more than I can chew. I'm hoping that with the help of this forum, I can figure this thing out. So far today, I already cut some of the fabric wrong--not a great start, but I can go get more fabric and try again, so I'm not giving up!!

I live in Camarillo, CA and love to play tennis. I have three adult children and am happily married (26 years). I'm a Christian and am a Young Life committee member. I work out at Orange Theory, but I'm still pretty chubby. I also love to waterski, wakeboard, and snow ski. My husband and I just bought and renovated (with the help of a contractor) our dream home and moved in a few months ago.

    Hello to everyone.

Welcome, from Tacoma, Washington!! I think I might be the only one here who is doing that quilt. It is the one w/all the blocks the same, but different fabrics for each quilt, right? What is causing you problems? I had wanted to be done with mine by now, but life got in my way so it isn't!!

Hi from a sunny but chilly West Yorkshire, England. I'm not a very experienced quilter but there are many on this forum so you'll get plenty of help.

Hi from Victoria BC from a fellow quilter and tennis player! I'm pretty new here too but have found some helpful tips looking through past posts. I just looked up that quilt you are making online and wow! It has lots of pieces!

Welcome from NJ! I'm also a Christian and prayer sure works! Lots of great friendly help and advice on this forum. My only advice is to read and measure twice - cut once! Ask me how I know!

Yes, I think we are doing the same one. I'm doing the fifty state version. I guess I'm not having any problems. I couldn't understand the directions at first but now I figured it out. Also, I made the first three cuts wrong, but fortunately, I was able to use that fabric for another piece, so I don't think I wasted much fabric. So all is well now. It's a really big project for me too. I'll be happy if I can finish by a year from now!! Good luck on your quilt!
