    Re: New? Read me first

I joined the forum this week, so I'm new around here, but not to quilting. I've been sewing for over 40 years & quilting for about 15. When there were no more costumes or clothes to make- for myself as well, it's not much of a savings like it used to be- I needed something to satisfy my love of fabric! I'm mainly self taught, it was a pretty natural progression from sewing to quilting. There is so much information available online & I love soaking it all up! I'm married, our kids are grown & live out of state, which I hate, but are both happy & gainfully employed so we make it work. My inspector Finn is in my avatar. He is a sweet boy who wandered into my sister's garage in December not in the best of shape. He needed me to have him & I needed him too! Looking forward to seeing everyone's work & sharing some of mine.
I'm a fabriholic on the road to recovery. JUST KIDDING! I'm on the road to the fabric store!

Hi Everybody! This is my first time posting on a forum ANYWHERE on the internet, but this seems like such a great group of people to be hanging online with!

My name is Tanya and I'm writing to you from Ontario, Canada. Like many here it seems, I came across the website from watching the Jelly Roll Race one night on youtube and have now watched most of the tutorials! Can you say quilting tutorial addict? Haha I have made two quilts over many years and have always wanted to make another. I am also quite busy with embroidery projects and more than a few counted cross stitch pieces. My BF and his kids are absolute lovers of quilts so I started a jelly roll quilt and it has morphed into a quilt for a queen size bed..pictures to follow..I'm now adding mitered borders to get it to fit over our bed.

It's always wonderful to be able to share tips and pictures and fellowship about quilting, stitching and life in general!

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

        Tanya

            Hi everyone!

My name is Mimi and I'm new to piecing. I've been watching Jenny's tutorials and have fallen in love with it! My grandmother was a hand quilter and my mother was a seamstress, I love both, although I machine quilt not by hand...I just don't have that kind of patience. So far, I've only done applique and embroidery quilts with only two pieced quilts under my belt. I joined a couple of groups, one of which does a mug rug swap every other month, so I've been picking up piecing through that venue and I also joined a Birthday block swap to help hone my minimal skills. I'm so excited that I found this forum! Can't wait to meet you in person, but for now... howdy!!

thank you for the welcome. Im originally from Florida. This is the first forum for quilting that I have joined. Chickens, sheep, goats and bees yes. Not quilting. I just started quilting. I have never enjoyed sewing. I cant knit worth a darn. Im the one arm shorter than the other knitter. I live in Maine about 23 miles northwest of Bangor. We have long winters and I started a quilting class last winter. I fell in love and have been enjoying quilting since then. I have finished 2 quilts and working on my 3rd. There is nothing more relaxing that a good Maine snow storm, the wood stove going and me quilting all day.

I am Lynn from the western suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. I was a knitter but am unable to knit for an unknown amount of time, so I took up quilting ! I'm REALLY enjoying it! I never even knew I could sew, but apparently I can! I'm so happy to have found MSQC and this forum! I have bought some wonderful fabrics and learned many new things! My first quilt is a lap quilt and I also made a Halloween table runner! I can't wait to read through all the posts and learn even more from you wonderful people and, of course, from Jenny!

                    Hi everyone.
My name's Kate and I've just finished my first quilt! I wanted to thank everyone at Missouri Star Quilt Co. for the tutorials on you tube. Without all the tips and ideas my first quilt would've probably been a disaster. As it is I think it turned out pretty well for a first attempt. I would like to upload a picture of it but am having problems. Never mind.
                    Thanks again 😀

                        Hello, everyone,
I am new here, just registered today. I am from Maine, US. I live in a small town in central Maine. There are a few quilting shops but not real close to me. I love watching your tutorials. I have learned so much in the past 2 years. I still have not done much FMQ. I think I need to get a piece of something to make my sewing machine and table smooth or slippery. I can't seem to think of the word... Oh is it silicone? Well anyway I have made several baby quilts and tried the stitch in the ditch. They were gifts. I have since then, somehow broken my walking foot. Oh well, if I go slow and easy my regular foot works fine. I have a couple of quilts in the making. ah hum some where in my closet. One is for my daughter and one for myself. I have been making smaller projects lately instead of working on those. Usually what ever I am sewing, it has some quilting involved. You have so many beautiful fabrics! If you had told me five years ago that I would like fabric and sewing, I would have to say "you're crazy!" lol. But now I love fabric. I don't always know what I will make when I purchase fabrics, but I know it will come to me sooner or later. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your community. Hugs, Pat C

                          Hi everyone!
I just joined this form this evening. I have read 19 pages of the thread where some of you have introduced yourselves to newcomers. I started quilting nearly 30 years ago. I love to get others involved in quilting! I love sewing on vintage machines and spread that love to my dgds...my youngest quilter is now 7...she pieced 20 blocks (from her own stash) on my hand crank. My oldest dgd took my BOM class at age 9...of course her sister, 5 yrs younger had to make a quilt too. She finished a D9P on my 1919 Singer treadle when she was around11 or 12....the 7 yr old has an impressive stash of her own!I enjoy quilting as well as machine embroiery, and making pincushions...and hankies too. I look forward to learning and sharing here!

Hi, I'm new here (obviously!) and I'm also new to quilting. I'm almost finished my first ever quilt. I'm from Melbourne Australia and have discovered today that stitching in the ditch on a 42C day is not really fun. Hoping for a cool change so I can get it finished. I also enjoy knitting, cross stitch, scrapbooking and card making. Looking forward to learning from all the experts on this forum
