Hi -- I am from mid-Michigan with lots of snow and cold

I saw Missouri Star on my PBS Fons and Porter last week. She did the jelly roll race but added a new twist of cutting it with a zig zag or scallop through it and add a piece of solid fabric. I would like the directions to this. How/where do I get them? Thank you goabe5

Welcome!! I saw that same method for Jelly roll quilt.. I think she said she cut her strips at 18 inches, then sewed in a 2.5 by 2.5 square before doing the long strip (everything all sewn together in one long strip). Hope this helps..

Try. Jelly roll race with spacers on google . I did a Christmas one with 2.5 inch squares sewn on to the end of each strip. The spacers made a nice pop of color ( joined them straight not on diagonal) . Next one I will try a rectangular spacer.

I looked on the Fons and Porter site. Found this. You can purchase the pattern from them.

2303 – Stitch and Slice Quilt

Jenny Doan shares how to use one 40 strip Jelly Roll pack to create an innovative and dynamic quilt. Strips linked with white squares and a quick cut across the entire top creates a focal point of interest. Fusible appliqué and machine blanket stitch complete the raw edge. This is a new twist on the Jelly Roll Race pattern. This quilt will be featured in the May/June 2014 issue of Love of Quilting. A digital pattern is available for this project! That is the one, Stitch and Slice. It is not thru Missouri Star though. It is thru Fons & Porter version of Quilting Quickly.
