Used to own a quilt shop (in the late 90's), been quilting since I was 8 when my grandmother taught me the old fashioned way--by hand--which I now teach to new quiltmakers. Am currently teaching a class of 7 my sampler quilt called Quiltmaking 101 all by hand. It's def a passion. I do use the machine and have a big Janome, but still prefer my hand work. I love it here however b/c of the tutorials and find the use of pre-cuts very refreshing. I hope to get to know some of y'all and learn more from you too. Glad I'm here.

Welcome to the forum, Jo! It's good to have you with us. I used to hand quilt everything but I have arthritis in my right hand now and it's too painful now. I send my quilts out to be machine quilted and I've been quite happy doing that. I can get more quilts finished that way. Visit here often so we can get to know you Barb

Jo, we're happy to have you join the forum... Would you believe our bags and the car are packed and ready to head to florida as do so many Canadians. But with the storms along the east coast and now today, a storm here in ottawa, here we sit!! I so want to see Disney and check out some quilt shops while there, but gotta check the weather before heading out. It's like the old saying 'all dressed up and no place to go!'

Hi Jo,
I'm a misplaced Floridian in North Carolina. I did live in Tampa for a short while after I 'retired' from the Navy, but came back here to be closer to my beau. I used to do a lot of cross stitch, but had to give it up because my hands/fingers were getting numb a lot. I thought about learning hand quilting, but am afraid I'll have the same problem. Would love to see pictures. Glad to have you here.
