    Itroduction from Dora, the quilter

I'm Dora, the quilter, and live in rural New Mexico. I just joined the forum, although I've been purchasing from Missouri Star Quilts for quite a while.
I was gifted with my first quilt at 2.5 years, woke up from my nap and followed "trails" across my quilt, and, consequently, decided to become a quilter. I didn't really begin piecing until I graduated from college (although I did sew all my own clothes). About 16 years ago I decided I could buy great clothes on sale and preferred to put my precious time into quiltmaking.
I was a licensed foster parent for a while and then adopted my daughter, who is a college freshman. I'm a special education teacher/case manage at a unique charter school for grades 7-12. I love my vintage and antique sewing machines and do most of my piecing and quilting on treadles (although I'm saving for a longarm machine).
I also love to knit and to read--and to cook [but just for people I love].

I'm looking forward to reading posts from other quilters.

Welcome from Washington! I also sew on antique machines! I have one treadle, two handcranks, and two electric machines. This is a fun place, lots of great support and encouragement.
